    Hi

It's a lovely grey day here today lol.
Hope everything is ok with you all. I started one of those net type twirlly scarves last night. Made one last year, so thought I'd make a new one for this year. Don't like knitting with it really, but the end product is worth the dislike lol.
Meeting up with a friend this morning for a coffee. Probably go to a cafe rather than stay here. She needs to talk, and there's too much traffic going on here what with the dog who seems to like to growl at her, the cat who always wants to sit on her lap and young bodies in and out on search for food, laundry and whatever other distraction they can think of, so the outside world is a safer place I think lol. Think I'm going to encoursage her to start up knitting again. I got her on the needles a couple of years ago, but she didn't persevere, will see if I can get her to knit some squares, I'll do some as well, and perhaps we can do a blanket together. chatrity knitting would apeal to her I think :-)
Have a blessed and prosperous day. Hugs to all in need ((((hugs)))) Love you all.

Hi everyone. A busy day again today, but I'm trying to plan a quieter one before the week is out, if possible!

Salome - I meant to say your gift sets are lovely, and they're a brilliant idea for presents for anyone, depending on what you put with them! I might have to pinch it! It would be good if you could get your friend knitting again. I always find working with wool so soothing; I haven't been able to do much of it myself lately, but I'm sure that will change once things here have settled down.

Chalky - hope DD's partner doesn't have long until he's recovered.

Jean - life sounds really busy for you lately. Hope you're finding some time to relax.

My mum is having a cataract op tomorrow, so she's been on my mind lately. My sister will be with her, so she won't be on her own. She's dreading it but the op is quite routine now, and she definitely needs it. Sis says she walks with her eyes down all the time, which isn't right, plus she's not been able to read or knit for ages. They will only do one eye this time, and they've told her that that should be enough.

Well, August has been a strange month, and I shall be glad to see the back of it, really. This coming week will make me think of the children going back to school. My DGS starts big school, so I'm a bit nervous for him! My friend here has had to go shopping for her children; they each have a huge list from the school of things they have to have - not uniform because they don't wear it here, but special pens, paints, folders, and so on. She spent $300 on two children, and that was just on stationery! Then she's had to pay €60 for a bus pass for the term (not the year!), and another fortune for their school dinners. Last year, she wrote the cheque out for the dinners, and the school didn't bank it for three months; I don't understand how the French operate?!

Anyway, I'm waffling so I'll go and finish off the dinner. We've been invited out for aperitifs this evening; normally a very refined affair but this time it's with the neighbours who like to drink a lot of eau de vie, so we need to line our stomachs!

Will really aim to get the update done tomorrow. I'm so sorry that I haven't managed to do it yet.

Take care, all of you, and special hugs for all those who are anxious, or unwell.

    KathyXX

hugs Shaz, sorry the boys are both being so nasty, i agree that you need to stay strong and let them understand while you are their mum and you love you are not a cash point machine or an emotional punchbag for them to vent off on.
i know this hard but you need to stay strong to win this one.

This was my `secret crochet project` recently, the one I ran out of lemon wool, have finally got a photo although DD is no David Bailey you get the idea of the white /lemon/pale green blanket. This was my first non granny square attempt at crochet and I`m very pleased with it.
