morning all, things definatly calmer, saw josh yesterday and took him some shopping, and my mum had bought him a hoover and i'd bought him a sandwhich toaster, took those too. while i was there i bought him some tokens for the washer and dryer so he can clean his clothes, refusing to hand over actual cash at the moment, he wasnt too happy at first til i pointed out that food and laundry tokens etc actually cost money anyway and that he was lucky i was still doing that for him.
next week i'll also take him to the shop and top up his electric meter, feeling better in myself for being calmer, and finished knitting a baby cardigan last night, including neckband.
jean, take it easy hun, and make sure you dont over do it
kathy, how frustrating all the red tape, hope its sorted soon

    Hi everyone

Chalky - I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to your poor DD2 in Oz; you must be beside yourself with worry about the situation. I hope by now that something has been sorted out for her, especially as you are going away tomorrow, aren't you? Any luck with MIL's purse? What a stressful time for you.

Shaz - I'm glad things have calmed down a bit. I don't know how you cope with all the worry; I really hope that things settle down soon.

Thanks for your comments about the red tape. I haven't got very far with it so far this week, mainly because a lot of offices close on Monday (daft, isn't it? Even the banks close on Mondays here!). We've also been helping out our friends on the farm who have somehow found themselves with two broken-down vehicles, so we've been running some errands for them. We've found a good English mechanic here, so DH has lent Mr Pig (the name the farmer calls himself - not an insult from us!) his van until one of their vehicles is running again. Ot feels as if it's been all go here and it's only Tuesday!

Mrs Moneypenny - would love to see a photo of your bunting when it's finished!

Jean and Elaine - hope you are both following doctors orders!

I've also been thinking about Maytaurus, Mrs MW, Prfungi, DPixie, and all those who have been MIA for a while.

Right, off to put the kettle on, then get back to the chores!

    KathyXX

I will definitely try and get the update done this afternoon!

  • Chalky - hope things are a wee bit more calm at your place today........you really didn't need all that excitement
F1 - my expression is "I am not in my body" as if my spirit has left and gone off on some journey, I do know what you mean tho'
Shaz - well seems things are settled a wee bit more in your neck of the woods too - hope that lasts as well
I am being quite 'conservative' for me.....managed 2 hours in the sweatshop yesterday....BUT realised rapidly that things are not yet back to normal. So gave up and went and got a book to read - see I do know when I need to just sit and reflect - I might not always remember to do it tho'
toying with a couple of knitting machine projects - but they involve a wee bit of counting and working out so perhaps I should look at them again in the morning when I am fresh out of bed and raring to go.
Miolliere - they are shut on Monday - allegedly cos the work on Saturday - but I haven't seen much evidence of that one either - you are not alone with the fight on the red tape front..........I dare not even start with it or the blood pressure will be right out through the roof - all to do with health insurance too, oh it all makes work for someone no doubt but I just wish to heck they would sort their flaming act out once and for all. Not helped now as its August and the main workers are all on their months holiday so its students and part timers covering .........boy..........give me strength! RANT OVER (not like me is it?)
Off for a cuppa and a sit down with that book I found yesterday, sprinkling your day with love, kindness and smiles - oh and some sunshine too for you all.

    Afternoon all
lovely and sunny here just had lunch "al fresco" it always tastes better no idea why, sat watching the birds chattering and splashing away in the bird bath.
OH is asleep on the sofa the trek around the dental hospital has worn him out I think...
He has another appointment with the oncologist Thursday morning at 9.30

We got the car back yesterday thank goodness, with a new engine, must say I am  OH has been telling them for months there was something wrong with it but they would'nt listen, he's only had it 6 months and it was still under warranty. They supplied a hire car though

kathy - Red tape sounds horrendous hope you get it sorted soon. The wedding looks lovely but sooo looong not sure I would have had the stamina for days of it :rotfl:
chalky - :eek:how awful DD and MIL suffering from the selfish mindless minority, I hope all is getting sorted now, not only does that sort of thing knock the confidence but its bl***y annoying and causes a lot of work
shaz - glad things are settling down for you now, good idea with the tokens/topping up the electric meter. Hope all goes well with the lady from the council
psso - you did that yourself now come on own up :rotfl:It reminds me of the OXFAM one some of us took part in a couple of years ago for stillborn/miscarriges in I think it was Africa!!! it was handed over to Sarah Brown in the House of Commons,in fact there is a pic of it in my wooligans album laid out on the floor in one of the halls in the H of C. It was going to be split into smaller blankets and then distributed, and contained if I remember rightly 10,000=10" squares EDIT:here it is at the bottom

I rescued a ball of wool yesterday...:o well to be honest it was 6 balls, of various colours lilac/white/pinks just to give me some variety...no I did'nt really need more but one can never have enough of the lovely soft squidgy stuff...and I did'nt want to run out that would never do ;)

(((hugs))) for all poorlys, under the weathers and recoverers take it easy all xx

Well I am off to the garden to chop a few dead heads off and tug some weeds out, back later

assessment from council went ok, they checked house, and apart from some internal doors, that i know i need to replace, as the boys made holes in them, then everything else is ok, and i should know by friday whether i'm offered the bungalow or not.
am excited and probably getting my hopes up, because it is being offered to another person before me, as they were first on the list. still fingers crossed
tootti frootti, darent give son shopping vouchers, as all the local ones sell games, which he could buy then sell, so for now he is getting food deliveries and tokens from me
    hugs all
