the ironing pile is in danger of being decalred a national monument but as yet ive not been shamed into doing any, however i usually have a blitz before we go on holiday so it will get done at some point,i plan on doing stuff with the kids to stop them spending 7 weeks on the xbox, then i have my cross stitch which i can only do in bright sunny weather as its navy adia with at the mo dark blue silks (it will be the titanic when im done, then theres knitting crocheting and doing the odd competition as well as baking and popping in here for a chat and reading whats going on.
off to make a cuppa now ive planned summer anyone else wnat one and is jaean about to supply cake
first priority is sending you some kisses;)SPC~12 ot 124

roamin.
i am not actually bothered any more, i am going to be removing myself from here aswell and i would like to be removed from Loving hands aswell so as you are in with them please can you do that for me please.
I thought this place was good for supporting people but i have always known there was a click and i have been proved right
all i asked was for the patterns to be removed while i sorted things out with another group but no i get slagged off for it, so i see any more messages about me or PreemiesUK from any of you lot i will report it
i dont know where that attitude has come form but it is totally uncalled for there are loads of people on here who knit for you and supported you so dont try blaming anyone in here for anything. for soemone who runs a charity that is a most uncharitable attitude.
i would now like to say sorry to any newbies who have just joined us as we are a lot more friendly than this so please dont let this put you off joining us or knitting for charities.SPC~12 ot 124

Howdy Folks - Know I havent managed to pop in and say hello for ages but all this upset about who owns what patterns etc has been rocking boats on both sides of our forums ;0( Never mind - just wanted to say hello and we will be posting the new Loving Hands challenges up on the site next weekend ;0) Loving Hands has been growing so fast and it has rather taken over my whole life - not that I am complaining - together we have helped so many thousands of babies, kids, old folks and animals and I feel so overwhelmed that it has come to this from me sitting alone in the community centre in Kelty just 4 years ago ;0) We now have almost 2,400 members and 10 groups up and down the country. What amazes me most though about both Loving Hands and this Knit a Square group is the friendship and support extended to all those in need of it. I often get lovely letters and phone calls from members who tell me that they have a new lease of life since joining us - a reason to get up in the morning ;0)
We now supply Knitted Boobs, Prem baby and burial items, Sands Blankets, Kiddies Clothes (for hot and cold countries), clothing and lap rugs for the elderly, balaclavas and cool ties for the troops, nose bands for donkeys in Palestine and Bethlehem, Chicken coats for battery chickens who lose their feathers, coats, beds and blankets for dogs and cats, bags to save baby puffins, hats and balaclavas for seafarers, wigglybags to hold the ivs for kiddies with cancer, wheelchair wraps, zimmer bags, hot water bottle covers, and lots more besides. It is amazing the many requests we get every week - seems like we are now known throughout the charity world ;0)
On Monday a couple from Forfar came with a minibus and picked up a whole load of warm clothing, blankets and toys to take with them on a trek to Mongolia - there the kiddies and single mums sleep under the streets on top of the pipes in the sewers - the pipes are heated to stop them freezing as it is below -40 degrees for 6 months of the year there. They are going to drive the minibus all the way over to Mongolia (it will take a month to drive there!) and once they have handed the things out and spent a few weeks helping out with the projects there they will leave the minibus for the aid workers to use - they apparently make the journey every year so we will be able to help them again next year ;0).
We are also supplying all the school uniforms for the Springs of Life school in Kenya - last year there were just 96 kiddies between 3 and 8 in the school (all of them suffering with aids or hiv) and this year she has over 250 !
All in all it is amazing how much the wonderful members of Loving Hands (and a lot of them are also members of this forum too!) manage to do every single year! I am extremely proud of every one of you - give yourselves a huge pat on the back and keep up the good work ;0)
Do pop over and say hello on loving hands - we always welcome newbies - everyone there is lovely - honest ;0) www.lovinghands.org.uk is the web address and you just click forum at top of the page to take you direct to our forum ;0)0 -
Oo lovely to see you lou...(although ISOM hangs head in lack of loving hands contribution shame!!) keep up the good work!
Sorry to see that there has been upset again...probably best to move on from it and hope that some equilibrium can return and we can focus on doing what we do best which is supporting each other and making stuff without the need for nastyness.
Just home after a long but uneventful journey. Had my last meal trying to miss the Friday rushour traffic and just had my first pack which was truely revolting! For those that dont know am trying to shift some of my massive bulk by doing cambridge diet...!!
Welcome Marbella. I hope that you will join us for what is usually a supportive and friendly group of people! Dont worry about quanties...there is no pressure just lots of chat with hookyness and knitting in between!! I hope you will be happy and comfortable with us!
Socky I hope that this weekend is ok and that you do manage to get a break soon; hopefully the house will be more restful now and less stressful for you.
Mrs M Im very jealous of your loooong holiday...my week went in a flash but I have Christmas to look forward to as mum and I will be going over then too!! Enjoy time with the children and forget the ironing!! National monuments are an important part of our country after all!
Roaming hope you are resting?!!
Right off to drink water and try and get some shawl done before the initial rotten feeling sets in - at which point Ill be doing chalky squares!! big hugs those that need them!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0
