This will be quick...........I am so nearly ready to re-launch myself into the land of the living but not quite 100% just yet. I am trying to be oh so good and failing at every turn - my own stubborn streak I think. I shall now go and read up on the last week and a half of postings that I missed. Love and squishy cuddles to you all, I will be back again soon.

Hello everyone, just thought it's about time I posted something.
I really appreciate being kept in your thoughts, many thanks to you all. I lurk most of the time, just to keep an eye on you all - lol, however - my depression tends to make me uncommunicative to say the least!
I know many of you are going through trials and hard times just now & wanted to pass on special HUGS to PippaS, Psso & Roamin; plus anyone I may have missed, chin up; deep breaths and positive thoughts for you all.
Mioliere - you sound so busy just now - fingers cross that you get a holiday soon!
Chalky75 - congrats for the next grandchild - isn't it exciting - I have a new one expected around Xmastime !!! You were looking for a 'top down' v neck yolked pattern for babes - here is one I found - plus a matching hat!!

Hi everyone
Well, there are weddings, and there are French weddings! I'm in the process of putting it all on my blog and will add the link to that later, when I've finished adding all the photos.
The event lasted more or less the whole weekend which, apparently, is typical of a wedding here. There were several stages, the first being the civil ceremony conducted by the local Mairie in his office. This was the legally-binding bit. The church ceremony is not official, just something the bride and groom can choose to have - a blessing, suppose. What really surprised us was the casual informality of it all. Guests could wear what they liked so some people were dressed up, and others weren't, but it didn't seem important either way! There was no solemn walking down the aisle to organ music - just everyone entering the church at the same time, with the bride and groom joining the throng. The service was sweet and simple, no hymns, just a couple of prayers and responses from the congregation, then it was over, and we were all outside taking photos and chatting. Then we all trooped off to the first reception - called the vin d'honneur, held in a village hall in a neighbouring town. This lasted about four hours; only wine was offered, so people were getting fairly tanked up on empty stomachs! Heaven knows where the gendarmes were that day, but everyone was quite happy to drive to the next reception with no fear of being stopped and breathalysed (it would never be allowed back in the UK!).
The next reception was held at another hall in another village - this was a five course meal (not including dessert, which was provided at 11pm!). The hall was packed out with over a hundred people, and there was a free bar ALL NIGHT. One tradition that we hadn't been told about took us completely by surprise - every twenty minutes or so throughout the evening some special music would be played, and all the guests would climb up onto their chairs and do the strangest dance we've ever seen! We couldn't believe what we were seeing or hearing. As soon as the music stopped, they all sat down and carried on eating as though nothing had happened! By the third time, DH and I had been shown all the moves and were joining in as though we'd been doing it all our lives!
The evening went on and people were getting more and more drunk. Many of the guests had brought their duvets along so that they could sleep in their cars in the car park; even those with young children. This seemed to be quite normal! We managed to sneak out at about 3.30 in the morning, but the party was still in full swing, and the drink was still flowing like water. Apparently, the bar finally closed at 5am! Throughout the day, people started gathering at the bride and grooms' house, and still more alcohol was consumed - not by DH and I; we just couldn't keep up with the rest of them. I always knew that the French have a real capacity for alcohol, but I couldn't believe how much they were all drinking without any signs of aggression or bad behaviour at all! Eventually, by early evening yesterday, the last of the guests left with much honking of horns and, all of a sudden, it was quiet and peaceful again.
I'll work on finishing my blog post later today so that you can see photos - the bride looked absolutely stunning in the most gorgeous dress, and her bridesmaids looked lovely, too. All together, it was an amazing wedding - very different from weddings at home. Lovely as it was, I much prefer the real sense of occasion and formality of a British wedding. I also don't think the guests at a British wedding could sink even half the amount of booze and still be standing at the end of it all!
Will call back in later.

YOU SNEAKY LOT....................
Ladies I am humbled, I am not worthy of the precious gift you have made me BUT I WON'T BE SENDING IT BACK AT ANY TIME EITHER!
Thank you all, I just hope I don't have to be incarcerated in a care home or carted off to a convalescent place or anywhere else where the fellas with the white coats come to get me (then they lock the doors on you) in order to enjoy sitting in the chair wrapped in the love and kindness that is my lapaghan (SP?).
DS has just asked me how you make the ones with the flowers in the centre................she scratches her head and explains "I shall ask for directions from those who know more than a google search engine" - so if you could point me in the general direction I will be most grateful. I am still fighting with the little crochet converse trainers - which I should just dump as a bad idea but won't as I am far too stubborn. I have three little sewing projects in various stages, as the sewing is my first love - one is a mere flight of fantasy, one has got as far as me making a pattern but as yet no "garment" and number three will be extremely useful - just as soon as I crack the "how to make it" stage.
Once again ladies thank you so much for your love and kindness.
Kathy - Janette (FD)married Jean-Charles here in Arradon - We stayed for a week - non stop partying - oh and the Breton tradition of onion soup, out of the potty at midnight the night before the wedding - some strange customs but boy did we all enjoy ourselves. I got to sing at the reception (the only one from the UK contingent), not realising that I was to alternate all night long with the French singers...................made everyone get up and do the hokey cokey in the end, we missed our original booking for the return ferry - we were still drunk on that day! Off to get on with some sewing, will pop in later - biggest squishiest cuddles to you all.
