Hello to everyone and lots of love tucked in!
Well it is gorgeous here to day so just relaxing and enjoying a bit of quiet time--- Did tidy and clean some corners this morning which is making us feel virtuous!!
I love Wimbledon and was so sorry about Andy Murray but the squealing/grunting in the womens final spoils it for me--- And she did not do it when warming up!
SOM I --- Can we be of any virtual help when you get back off holiday. Bribery with balls of wool or a cat blanket for every 1/2 stone or something?
Psso -- Keep on with that gentle journey to full health!
Jean,Pippaand Doh , MRS MW, Sealkay, May and anyone else feeling below par please have a gentle hug from here in Chalky's World!
Kathy -- Hope the holiday house changeover goes well. Love to you both
Well DMIL is coming for a cuppa so I must pop the kettle on!Try and do a good deed every day.0 -
Hello all, hope the sunshine is making all those with health problems feel a bit better. I have had a busy few weeks with OH being poorly - it never rains but bloomin pours. He is improving slowly but surely but each illness takes its toll and his disability increases.
On the knitting front, have been trying extreme knitting, 5 strand of wool and 20mm needles - I made Dgs a rug in 5 hours :T not bad for my first attempt. Have made some squares in crochet too just need some fresh wool as my supplies are boring now. Have also been making some little shopping bags ( child size) for Christmas, going to fill them with bits and bobs for the nieces. I was wondering if anyone here could use a few for any of the charities as I have masses of fabric and they don't take long to run up? Maybe with a knitted teddy in?

I will get my caravan0 -
Hi everyone
ISOM - your excitement is bouncing off the page! Not long now, eh? Would love to see the shawl when it's finished. I have some gorgeous very fine wool (may even be cashmere) in two colours, one cream and the other one a sort of egg shell blue, about 1000gms of each, and I've been hunting for a pattern to use it on. I've been thinking about a shawl or a cardie, but just can't find the right pattern. I want to make something for my mum and something for myself with it. Good luck with the diet, especially as you're in pain. Enjoy the holiday (you can't go to Italy and not eat the wonderful food!), then come back ready for the challenge! We'll all be here to support you, even if, as Chalky says, it's only virtually!
Chalky - yes, the changeover went well apart from the fact that the washing machine in the house broke down a few weeks ago. After searching for an engineer to look at it (there are hardly any domestic appliance engineers here - people throw their machines out because the parts here are so expensive), one finally turned up, took it away, gave us a quote which was approved by the holiday home owners, and promised it would be ready last week! Well, it wasn't, so I've been chasing it up and hope it will be ready this week. I've offered to do the guests washing myself but, luckily, the lady who lives opposite the holiday home has kindly offered the same, so the guests are quite happy with that.
I've just realised that the wedding we've been invited to is next Saturday, so there's not long now! We will have two caravans in our garden for some of the guests; they'll be staying here on Friday and Saturday night. Luckily, we have plenty of room. I still haven't decided what to wear - I can't find anything I like in the shops but, to be honest, I haven't had much time to look, so I'll have to sort something out this week.
Ginnyknit - poor OH; it must be a worry for you both. I hope he starts to improve more quickly. Would love to see a picture of the rug - it sounds intriguing!
Well, the weather has been gorgeous again today, not that I've had a chance to sit out in it. Maybe tomorrow.
Jean and Elaine - hope you are both relaxing. Hugs to everyone else.

Hello to one and all and lots of love too!
Well the weather has been absolutely gorgeous here-- clear blues skies and sunshine. I actually got the bunting that I made for DMIL'S 80TH birthday out from the drawer yesterday and hung it in the garden. Things are too special just to have out on high days and holidays!
We ended up having a bit of an impromptu bbq last evening and to wake seeing it fluttering in the breeze started my day off beautifully.
I have just given a very "old" friend an hours Reiki treatment and I feel as relaxed as her!!
Well we are going to walk into the post office this afternoon to send DMIL's little hats off ( She has made a 100 now!) What a star! and also post off the hooky project!
Kathy -- You must be so busy gettring ready for the wedding -- Hoipe you have decided what to wear!
Jean, Elaine. Pippa and DOH, Mrs MW, Seakay, Ginnyknit and anyone else feeling a little low or with their hands overflowing - Lots of gentle thoughts!
ISOM --- Not long now! How exciting!

Hi everyone from a baking hot corner of France; it's so hot that the washing dried in about an hour this morning! DH has just gone to the tip - usually I have to help, but a friend called in so I roped him into doing the trip with him.
Chalky - I'm still undecided on what to wear to the wedding, but I've narrowed it down to one of three dresses! Whichever one I wear has to match my comfiest dressy shoes, simply because it will be a long day, with dancing, and I'm too old to put up with uncomfortable feet! DH, of course, is all set because men are so easy, aren't they?! I've bought two lovely picture frames as a wedding present. I was hoping to have been back to the UK by now, when I could have bought something typically English for them, but I'm still waiting for documents to arrive. In fact, on that issue, I've emailed the European Commission and they are helping me now! It's making life very stressful, and I have to force the matter out of my mind, otherwise I'd go mad! In fact, I'm so fed up with it all that I really want to move back home. I don't think I'm meant to be here, because just about eveything has been a real challenge, and I feel that life is passing me by!
Anyway, enough of that. I have just received more online work, so that will take my mind off things. I just have to make the time to do it!
Anyway, I hope you are all enjoying good weather. DS2 Skyped last night and he said it's been lovely where he is in Hampshire. Both the girls are just so gorgeous - I can't believe that Megan was born in March and I still haven't cuddled her. Oh, there I go, getting angry again because I can't get out of here yet!
I'd better go and put the kettle on, I think! There's nothing like a good old cuppa (made with proper English tea!), is there?

ISOM - thanks for the hug; it was most welcome! Battling with the civil servants here is very wearing, and it does get me down now and again (well, quite often actually!). PG Tips are the best! Have a nice time with Seakay!
