    Hello everyone.

Many thanks for all your good wishes, much appreciated here.

I was on the list to just have the angiogram pictures done but when the registrar was going over all the details, I asked if it would be possible to have any stents done that day so that I didn`t have to go through the waiting around again. He went and checked with the Boss and came back to say `The man from Del Monte he say yes.` I presume that was because I was last on the list and wouldn`t be holding up the queue.;)

Things seem to have gone well yesterday although the cardiac mannie gave me yet another shock. Seems two arteries were getting rather narrow so he felt it would be best to put two stents in each, not just one. Just as well I was lying down at the time. It`s such a weird feeling lying there listening to the conversation about what`s happening in your body and strange feelings in your arm when the wire etc goes through. Had to have a wee bit of morphine when that happened to take the edge off the pain.
A couple of hours later I got back to the ward feeling a bit tender and dozy from the wee morphine jab in my arm but awake enough to have some food and a cuppa, and then was allowed home after eight o`clock.

Although I had a stent in 5 years ago it was different this time. Went in through the groin last time and it was a bit uncomfortable sitting, but he did it through the wrist this time, the right one, so now I`m bored silly.

Can`t knit or crochet because of the tenderness and bruising and too much repetitive movement might start the bleeding up again. Not allowed to drive for a week so confined to barracks, although DiL2b has offered to come and take me out anytime I get stir crazy.

Even typing this is making my arm ache a bit so I`ll just have to sit with a cup of coffee and a book I suppose, but I get fed up with that too. Mind you a cuppa is about as much weight as I can manage right now:( so all activity has been curtailed for the moment.
Well I suppose as the nurse said before I got home last night, I`d better take it easy for a few days as poking a bit of wire around in my body isn`t exactly natural.

Welcome trifles, hope you enjoy being part of the gang
Think I might have to get DD to make a trifle for tea tonight, quite fancy something like that. We have fruit and sponge on the bottom with a splash of sherry, then jelly and topped with fresh whipped cream. Can`t stand cold custard on trifle, yuk. Used to have Dream topping when we were little, gosh that brings back memories. Mum used to whip it up and then my brother and I would fight to be allowed to lick the whisk clean :rotfl:haven`t had it for years though.

Jean, we did a supermarket sweep on Monday just in case I wouldn`t be allowed to drive but forgot to stock up on bread, just as well DD1 will be popping in later and can bring some with her.

Off to investigate and see if there`s a jelly in the cupboard for my trifle.

i found a ball of black wool in the drawer under the bed stash so was able to do one cant believe how quick and easy it was to knit i did a two needles pattern as i hold my needles too weirdly to ever cope with dpn. i only hold one needle the other ends up tucked in the top of my leg and i move the wool and work round it. yes i know im very strange- i also knit with my head inclinding to one side that dips further down as i get to the end of the row then pings back up like some kind of old fashioned typewriter wen i change rows. well thats how someone who watched me knit described me once so now you know why i knit in the privacy of my own home ;) and to add to my problem im a lefty.

  • anakat .......thank you for those lovely flowers, I can smell them from here in France
Mrs Moneypenny - I really am trying (well that's what DH says) only doing little bits while on my feet.. we have notices all over the house....EVEN IF YOU WEAR YOUR PANTS OUTSIDE YOUR CLOTHES - you are not SUPERWOMAN - he has got me there with that one.
Elaine, so pleased they did the deal while you were in, no listen to me - you need to rest up and be thoroughly spoiled and then you will be all better in no time at all. Even with the shopping list we missed stuff..........doh, brain dead/fog sure gets the better of me. DH says he will go again tomorrow - while I rest!
Mrs Twins, your blankets are just all so gorgeous, I will keep practicing in the hope I can be good enough to contribute.
ISOM - poor kitty, at least you have a great V.E.T. some of the ones I have come across in this part of the world really make me wonder if they are in the right profession! Regarding the swapsees, how flaming annoying is that, join in the next Loving Hands one....... They had one at Christmas and it went so well, having another think its the 20/22 of this month, but limited to a fiver this time (plus postage) Dawn T (Purple teddy bear) does the organising and I just know it will be perfect - like the Christmas one I have done a bit of sewing (which I don't count) a bit of machine knitting (also I don't count that) and will buy some super duper chocolate and a ball of yarn - I know that will be my fiver gone I also know that whoever receives it will be chuffed to bits............you have to really enter into these things I knew I wouldn't get to the shops with lots of time to spare, so planned ahead.
sock knitter, I am sending you positive thoughts, for the ordeal you face over the next few weeks/month......
OK ofskie for yet another glass of water............oh it is working.

mrs-m - that sounds difficult... but hey ho no matter as long as the outcome is the same :D
jean - :rotfl:visions of you rushing to the flushng room
psso - ouch... hope you are resting... that goes for you to jean
anakat - ooo lovely flowers and Hever castle sounds like a good place to go
MrsTwins - blankets have turned out beautifully. The Willows was where OH's mum was for her last few days in September last year sadly she had no idea where she was but it was so much nicer for her than Heartlands Hospital

I started a tie front cardi for a 4/5 year old when I was at Jo's earlier, I'm using some bubbly yarn Mum bought me, it's been hanging around in its packaging for at least 18 months

We have the first of OH's hospital appointments tomorrow morning at 10 am, its for the pre-op, seems strange to have it this early the op isnt until next week

    Enjoy your evenings everyone

Hi everyone, hope all who are not well for various reasons are up and about soon. I joined you all then disappeared! I had a bout of arthiritis in my left shoulder and havent been able to do a thing for a week now. Gp actually was worried I was having a heart attack as my BP had shot up ( never had a problem before) I have had many bouts before in almost every other joint but nothing like this. Anyway got some new meds today and already feeling much better, I can actually pick up a cup now or scratch my head if I need to - thats how bad it was!

So am off to knit some squares for Mrs Twins. Just a quick question though - is there a pattern for the butterflies Mrs T? as I could make a few of those too for you. The photography on your blog is lovely, such pretty colours in all those blankets.

    morning all,
jean and elaine, hope your both resting, and taking it easy
    ginnyknit, welcome back

big favour to ask, can all you lovely people send positive thoughts, and prayers if u believe to my mum and dad please. they were broken into for the third time this year, and are obviously very shaken and very upset. there isnt much of value as all jewellery and valuables were taken previously. they've taken a watch my dad got from work when he retired after 30 years in same company, more sentimental value, then money. they also took lots of food from fridge and cupboards, (hungry thieves?) other than that the rest was pure mess and damage to furniture, everywhere had been tipped and even matteress was off bed, properbly expecting to find money there.
sorry for long post, but my mum means the world to me

    Good morning everyone,

Shaz your poor parents, broken into AGAIN. How horrifying, they must feel so devastated. Thoughts and prayers to them and you.

Roamin' and psso I have some audio books on tape and cd going spare if either of you is interested, can knit and listen at the same time!

pippa good luck at the hospital hope all goes well. We had to take my sister to hospital last week, an hours drive away, to be told for the fourth time that her shoulder, that she broke last june, needs to be operated on. They wanted her to go back a few days before the operation for the pre-med, but we managed to get them to agree she could have most of that done at the local hospital, all except the mrsi test which they did there and then. We thought it was just a mouth swab, hah! Still no date for the actual operation though.

Hope everyone else is ok, including Isoke.
    Love and hugs, xxx

Hi everyone - I'm so sorry I've neglected the thread this week. It's been really busy, what with visitors yesterday, dealing with the holiday home and a washing machine there that decided to stop working. Domestic repair firms barely exist here but luckily our neighbour found one who had to take the machine away, so we're hoping it won't cost too much to repair. Most people here, apparently, throw out broken machines because the parts are so expensive - they just go and buy new, but how wasteful is that?!

I see that lots and lots of hugs are needed on here lately. Jean and Elaine - I hope you are taking it really easy; you've both been through a heck of a lot, and I hope everything works out.

Pippa- - hugs to your OH.

Anakat - hope the arthritis eases up for you.

Mrs Moneypenny - you made me laugh with your description of how you knit!

Well, I shall try and get the update done later on today. Right now I'm ironing the bedlinen for the holiday home, ready to put back on the beds tomorrow. They have changes of linen for each bed but I like to wash and dry the same ones to put back on because they are so much prettier - beautiful Laura Ashley French-style prints, which really are gorgeous, with cushions to match.

This afternoon, I have another episode of red tape. It now seems that, to get my new Carte Vitale (so that I am registered under the French health system), I have to provide an officially-translated birth certificate. Well, for the first two years that I was registered here under a different scheme (only in France would it be this complicated!), I had a Carte Vitale that didn't need a translated birth certificate. I've actually found an EU directive that says it doesn't need to be translated, so I shall arm myself with that and go and do battle this afternoon! If I have to have it translated, it will cost around €40 (France has always got its hand out for money), and will take about ten days. The other day, I read a very powerful article about the civil servants here - it seems even the ordinary French get the run around and their name for them is 'ink-s******s'! I've leave you to fill in the asterisks!

On that note, I shall love you and leave you and call in later.
