:DAm delighted I found this thread! As a newbie I'm still discovering new boards.I am not a great knitter, but I did some 1-2yr old hat and jumper sets a while ago then lost them and the patterns before I finished sewing and finishing them:oFound them a while ago while scrabbling about in my Cupboard of Doom for other craft bits.Anyway,I know what to do with them now and am so pleased as they are pure wool and I thought the cs would sell them for very little. This is a much better source.
Will buy some more wool and keep going-the patterns were from a Debbie Bliss book and simple enough for me so I can knit even for small periods watching TV or so:jand not feel I'm wasting time1
Thanks again-looking forward to being on this thread-everyone seems great fun and really kind:A

Ooooh I do love a nice trifle - no sherry or fruit though - just sponge, jelly, custard and Dream topping (always made by mum with dream topping as I dont eat the creamy stuff - triple yuk - its only been a few years that I have started eating marg/butter - dont like cream and only a scraping of butter - yes I know "la la" that I am ;)
Now its got me going - OH's Mum makes me one sometimes - jelly, choc swiss roll, choc custard and dream topping, crushed flake on top - thats the DIET version obviously!

All this talk of pudd im off to investigate the kitchen although do have some very nice white chocolate with strawberry pieces in from Asda ..........................

Hi Trifles, and a very warm welcome to you! We're as pleased you found us as you are! I see that the others have pointed you in the right direction, but please do ask if you are unsure of anything. I love the idea of a Cupboard of Doom - I think we all have one of those!

Hope things have gone well with Jean and Elaine, and love to you all. We have visitors tomorrow so I've been prepping today!

Thank you for a warm welcome.:A
I do love trifle- especially with sherry!:D but I thought of'trifles' as I once did a OU course on Shakespeare and one character described himself as a'snapper up of unconsidered trifles' and I thought that was me summed up very well! I LOVE 'upcycling' things from CS shops and fiddling around with bits of broken jewellery etc-friends tell me they don't throw anything old or broken away unless they ask if I have a use for it:o
Am better at sewing than knitting, but a simple pattern I can just about follow.I think I will enjoy this very much with radio 4 and a pot of coffee for company:jonmy days off.
So, off to check any other wool about, then bed-looking forward to start up knitting tomorrow.
Will remember those in need of positive thoughts/hugs when I light my candle tonight-hope everyone has a pleasant day tomorrow:)

Welcome Trifles - yum yum especially for breakfast.....
Thank you all for your warm wishes, yesterday went bye in a bit of a blur - spect that was the Valium I had to take in the first instance! Not a very pleasant experience to say the least but hey worse things happen at sea....being the first treatment it was obviously going to take the longest and scare the cwap out of me worrying, now I have done one (and it was UGG) I know what to expect on the next three, spaced a week apart so I have time to psych myself up again. Not all helped by the fact that I thought we should do a bit of supermarket sweep on the way home.......honestly do I ever learn -- no don't bother answering that one, I already know. So had to take myself off to bed extremely early, with gallons of water to sink over the last 48 hours and at least another 2 litres today, I shall probably spend most of my time in the lav! Will pop back later - love and squishy big cuddles to you all.
