    Hi everyone

Maytaurus - thank you so much for the lovely pattern and the gorgeous piccies! It's good to hear from you especially knowing how difficult it is for you to post. I hope today is a good one for you and your family.

Hardpressed - that chair must have been amazing and a real labour of love to cover in granny squares! It just goes to show what can be achieved with a hook and some wool. Thanks for posting about it. Please feel free to join us!

Shaz - I hope things calmed down last night, and that you had a good evening.

Well, most of the straw in the barn has now gone, with the rest being collected on Friday - at least I think it is; the farmer not only speaks no English at all, his French is very 'patois', too, so a lot of hand signals are needed! He did come in for coffee when invited, and he was amazed by what we have done to the house; he knew it when owners from years back kept farm animals in it! DH couldn't believe how fast the farmer loaded the straw - he must be a good ten years older than DH and DH reckons he couldn't have done it as quickly. Anyway, it's so good to know that it will be used rather than burned or dumped, and the site of the barn should be a lot clearer when the chaps come to demolish the rest of it on Saturday.

I'm still chasing up our health cover and have been given an address of an office in the nearest town that should be able to help so I shall call in either today or tomorrow to see how they can help. I just wish things weren't so exceedingly slow here - it will very gradually turn me insane! DH doesn't seem to mind as much as I do, but I always like to be completely organised and that's just not possible here when you have so many loose ends that never seem to get cleared up. I met one couple recently who have lived here for seventeen years, and they are selling up and moving back to the UK purely because of the red tape - can't say I blame them. They've simply had enough of the battle. The worst thing is that the French just put up with it which means it will never change - well, not in my lifetime!

Anyway, hopefully, once I've called in at the right office, we may be another step closer to being able to plan our trip home.

The weather yesterday was sunny but with a cool breeze, so I hope it's a bit warmer today. At this time of year it's so hard to know what to wear - it's cold one minute, and warm the next. Roll on summer proper, that's all I can say!

Anyway, I'm waffling so I think I'll go and have another cuppa!

Hope you all have a lovely day!

Morning everyone. Having a pretty terrible day today - hard to believe it's been four months already.

Finished a gown and hat set which I'm pleased with (as there is almost no sewing up to do ;) ). Now working on a gift for my friend's birthday. Really strange that the busier I am with work, the more knitting I get done - surely it should be the other way around!!

maytaurus - love the picture. Really wish I could crochet!

Hi everyone - it's quiet on here today; hopefully everyone's taking the chance to get out and about in good weather. I hope so.

Chalky - are you OK? It seems ages since you posted.

Seraphim - I hope today is a better day than yesterday for you. Like ISOM, I'm not sure what happened four months ago but, whatever it was, I hope the pain eases for you as time goes by.

ISOM - I'm sorry that your tooth hurts when you bite on it. Sometimes, unfortunately, not all the nerve (s) can be removed straightaway during root canal treatment, and may stay a bit sensitive. Don't leave it too long before perhaps phoning up the dental surgery and asking to speak to the dentist, or to let him examine the tooth, just to put your mind at rest that it's recovering well.

Jean - I hope the cough has gone by now?

Well, I managed to complete a Mrs Twins square (for her Tropical theme) so I shall get another one done, then start on a panda for DGD1, followed by a couple of little teddies for DGD2 and 3. DGS will have his Android robot (still, poor thing, awaiting eyes!), and I hope to get them all in the post for Easter by Monday. I suspect they won't get there on time but I can hope! At least I can tell them they're on the way!

All the straw from the barn has been taken away and has been shared between two local farmers, so I'm delighted that good use will be made of it; much better than having to throw it away. We had quite a traffic jam outside the house this morning - two tractors, and a friend and his 4x4 and horsebox who was collecting some old wood (that has also been in the barn for years) for his woodburner. So, a good result - everything cleared out which saved us having to clear it and dispose of it, and three other people helped out, too! Tomorrow, the chaps come back to dismantle the rest of the barn, and then it will be as if it was never there!

We've had pretty good weather all week - not as hot as last week but still nice enough to be able to get outside with a coat.

We've been told that we can collect one bit of the red tape we need from the relevant office in town on Monday, so that will get us a step closer to being able to plan our trip back to the UK.

Anyway, I hope you are all keeping well and that you have a great weekend.

Thank you both. I lost my daughter 4 months ago which is why I'm now happy that I can knit for Preemies & angels in her memory.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend! :)

Well we have had a really hectic couple of days with Ds and DDIL making a surprise visit --- So lovely but we have been going non stop for 48 hours since their arrival -- Launching themselves off the mountains in the Sierra Nevada's -- Doh has been in his element as I of course have had the company of some woolly stuff

Seraphim I was so sad to read of your news -- Please pop in here often. I find it such a wonderful place of friendship and support. Sometimes a kind, supportive word helps at really difficult times. Also sometimes it is easier to " Talk" to someone a little more removed from a situation IYKWIM. Anyway the gentlest of thoughts to you xxx

Well off to bed fora ggod sleep I hope xx
Try and do a good deed every day.
