I feel I should explain for newbies that as you get into the wool addiction that it becomes necessary (with increasing regularity-much to many an oh's dismay!) to rescue poor, sad, lonely, cold, wool from shops (after paying one must add!!) and bring it home to a place of safety and contentment, ready to fulfil its lifes purpose in a loving and secure environment!! As you will see we have a committed group of wool troopers who cary out daring rescue missions (often involving cake, coffee and friends!) throughout europe! Beautifully bonkers as chalky would say!
^^^^^:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:^^^^ How true.
And I for one am proud to stand up and be counted as one of the committed :j `Scuse me while I adjust my ballyclava

Back home now with a rotten cold/sore throat and headache, so on the honey and lemon for the day and see if I can shift some of it. Monsters tamed.....THREE, meals all cooked and eaten - I do appreciate it when folks clear their plates, makes it all worthwhile. All boys delivered to various venues ON TIME, remembered to shift the clocks forward too. Phew, so I will take my time catching up with everything on the forum and get back into the swing of some knitting during the week. Love and cuddles to you all

Morning all, it`s a bit damp and miserable - dreich as we say here.
Any and all colours of ballyclava Kinsey, so long as it`s not black, that`s a dead giveaway.
Giving the old thumb a wee rest from the knitting and picked up a crochet hook instead. Sat with Lucy`s blog (attic24) and refreshed my granny square technique. Managed to do three before I got fed up, far too much concentration required I`m afraid. Might have to resort to knitting some more squares as they are nice and small and light.
Lots of little jobs to catch up on today so I`ll definitely be in `butterfly mode` all day. Here, there and everywhere. Wasn`t there a song called that - or something similar?
Get gargling with the h&l Jean. Hope you feel better soon, it`s all that monster watching - it wears you out doesn`t it ?
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all
Yes, psso, it's a bit driech here too. Time to get hoovering! (DH is away, so hoovering is allowed. Normally he works from home and doesn't like the noise - fine by me - until he complains about the dust!)
Once that's done I can get on with my life! Hoping for bit more rain today anyway to wash in the weed and feed I put down. Why does it always come out in stripes?? One of life's lityle mysteries, I guess.
Had a go at Chalky's little crochet bags yesterday, but got stuck figuring out what she meant by single crochet. Is that really an english double, chalky - it looks like it in your picture. I'm sure it will become clear but I'm a beginner at crochet. Maybe this is why I didn't have much success in teaching our OCC craft ladies how to do it the other week!
Oh well, I must stop wittering and get hoovering!
Have a good day!

Good morning everyone from what was a wet early start but is now mild, bright and sunny.
Jean - well done on surviving the week and managing to keep everything under control! So sorry that you've been rewarded with a cold, though; that's not at all fair. Hope you feel better soon and you are doing the right thing with the honey and lemon.
Elaine - try just doing a normal square not a granny square - you won't have to keep looking at where you are going, if you see what I mean! Chain enough for the size of square you need, then just go row after row in whatever stitch you choose until you've made a square. You can change colours and do stripes, or do plain and add a flower or something a bit later on. I find this quite relaxing and ideal for when concentration is not at its peak.
Well, DH was meant to be on a roofing job this morning but rain stopped play, so he's glossing doors at the moment, which I don't mind because it was going to be my job today!
Update on mother and baby - both doing really well but DS2 has to go back to work tomorrow and he's been such a domestic god, apparently, that DIL2 wants him to stay at home! Luckily, she has lovely parents and a sister close by, and DS1 and DIL just ten minutes away, so she's not alone. The baby is feeding and sleeping well, which is really good, and Summer just loves her sister and can't bear to hear her cry!
Update on BIL - he's had his second chemo session and has had a few rough days but is still fighting fit and positive, so we are all relieved at how things are going at the moment.
Update on our next trip back home - we're just waiting for the paperwork then we can apply for the equivalent of the EHIC cards so that we can travel back to the UK, but we are definitely a step close!
Well, I'm going to sort out some more snake-coloured wool and see how many of the slithering creatures I can make before the next upate!

Hello and love to one and all x
Kathy -- Glad to hear about 1 more step closer to "acuddling" time! And also BBIL -- Fingers crossed for his progress x
PuppetLady--- Blimming crochet terms! You are right it is a UK double Crochet between the scallops but to be honest the one lovely think about crochet is it is so forgiving it does not make too much of a difference unless you are working to a particular pattern which has to be a definite size.
Thank you for pointing it out though-- My Yoga teacher wants me to give her some crochet lessons so I have just googled the stitches I use and have written down the correct names. Hopefully this will help her and me! Saying that she is South African brought up in Israel now living in Spain so I don't know where that leaves us!!!! I will go with the UK terms!
Jean -- Hope you are soon fully recovered . What a star looking after the boys!
Kinsey, Seakay and PSSO and I will include all the lurkers---I am also glad to be a part of the nutty, woolly, beautifull bonkers, wool collecting and grooming team !
ISOM I love the patchwork-- I made a quilt once but gave it away to the Charity shop in a moment of fashion changing madness!!! I absolutely love decluttering but sometimes regret being so ruthless---- NEVER WOOL though!!
Well we are missing DMIL today nd she wishes she was here as it is horrible in Devon.
Kathy The house is like a snake pit!!!!:rotfl::rotfl: And I have a new project on the hook which is catching as well ! To be revealed when I have perfected it with excellent advice from DOH !!:TTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
Thanks for clearing that up, Chalky! I've now successfully scalloped round top and have just to - ahem - double crochet around the edge! All will be revealed, but DH has just arrived home - unannounced - he usually phones on his way - so must go and serve him dinner!
Lovely evening, everyone!

Love the patchwork - I once did a quilt with hexagons using all my OHs shirts that were really old and not worn but he wouldn't throw out. It took ages but it did look good.
Do you have details for woolfestthingy? I missed the last knitting club and Google says Woolfest is in Cumbria - is that the one?0 -
love the patchwork isom, i'm using same method, but as it my first attemp, mine is going to become a bag.
my mum and dad have been broken into today:mad:, they've taken all my mums jewellery and sentimental keepsakes. plus, some money they kept in house plus they also took josh's nintendo ds and all his games, which he left there at the weekend, dreading telling him,
there are some cruel nasty people about, who only care about a quick fix, and dont realise the hurt they cause, my mum is so upset and shook up
shaz xxxloves to knit and crochet for others0
