I see the newbies are all settling in great and getting addicted to wool :rotfl:
Well my village newsletter came yesterday followed by neighbour who is organising me for some items for the show in September - I think by what she was saying I should have started last year
PLEASE CAN SOMEONE STRETCH THE YEAR A BIT - I FEEL LIKE IM ALREADY BEHIND!
Totally NOT MSE - Ive treated myself to a baby doll that you re-born (make to look like baby) (it was only very cheap though not as expensive as some kits) - i think i am having mid life crisis - am just waiting for bit of equipment to come paints etc and then will begin!
BUT I did buy some patterns from a lady that I saw on ebay and am knitting a papoose/cuddle sack - preemie size (its my first attempt and may well be donated to shezmit as the pattern is beautiful) but was knitting one for my dolly - oh im so sad - I should be charity knitting not painting dollies! Does anyone else like dolls? - Ive found that we often have the same "likes" - cross stitch, knitting (obviously), card making etc
Had better go and get breakfast things cleared up as I want to catch up with Island Parish when DS goes to school
Love and hugs to all xxDebt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0 -
morning all, planning a peaceful day today, my last night of respite for the lads, as the resedential facility at daniel's school closes today:(. a lot of staff who have become friends to both me and my sons over the years will be losing there jobs too
f1, im not overly fond of dolls, but i do like soft toys, especially ones from the build a bear shop, that you can buy lovely clothes for them too, plus i have knitted them little cardigans etc too
psso, i like buttons too, but we can buy them really cheaply in town, as they are sold loose, and u can buy as few or as many as u like.
hugs all

F1 I LOVE dolls, so did my mum so I guess it's inherited. I used to make oodles of clothes for my sons action men and my first GD's many dolls, sadly GD2 is not a 'girly' girl, but I shall keep trying to convert her. As I've mentioned before, GD1 used to bring something to be dressed on every visit, and by making things together she learned to knit, crochet and sew and still does it, but for herself now. For her 18th birthday I bought her a sewing machine and all the bits, so she's been going geat guns for the past year. As Puppetlady said action men and sindy type things are ok for the boxes we now have an excuse to indulge ourselves!0

Right I have allowed myself 30 seconds on here as I have been left behind on the airport run--- bit of Mum and "her boy" bonding .I am supposed to be doing the housework which has been totally neglected for the 2 weeks DMIL has been here--- So here goes and counting!!!Try and do a good deed every day.0

Elaine -- I never log off and have just done 1 hour and 10 minutes SOLID cleaning -- I only popped back as the kettle is boiling for a quick cuppa to see what you are up to--- Energy levels drooping now though!Try and do a good deed every day.0

psso - thanks for the link to the button seller - indulged in a happy hour or two of picking and buying. Now have, I hope, several years worth of buttons so that I won't have to get the bus to town and then buy something super expensive every time I need a few matching buttons that can't be supplied by my recycling of buttons from my tin.
Was also tempted by some oyster shell buttons from

I've always loved mother of pearl buttons and these have the same sheen.
Well, I've done a few more rows of my jumper so time to stop shopping and do some more! It's a variagated cotton for a small boy and needs to be ready for the orphanage trip The Lewis Charity is making in July. Miles away, you may say, but I am a very slow knitter who is easily distracted!0 -
Hi everyone
Yet again the day has run away from me mainly because we have been visited by two different sets of friends and the only thing that has worked really hard today is the kettle! In between visits I managed to get a few chores done but I am now all talked out and longing to get back to my crochet.
Hope you all have a lovely evening and I will catch up with you tomorrow.

to proove I have been industrious with needle-just not knitting one!! This is the first of many granny's garden
hex's that will go into my throw. My granny made mum one and Im doing one for me as a long term project - very time
consuming as you have to cut paper hexagons, fabric, then sew fabric round paper hex and finally sew them all tog and when
all done remove paper and ugly cream thread!! Felt very close to my granny while I did this and think she would be very impressed
by my tiny stitches! I do miss her but know Ill see her again so that helps but meanwhile she's left a hole ...
F1 - yuck ikky motor racing-even the sound makes my back crawl so was a tad chuffed she missed it! Have to say not a
dolly girl myself...I have my original teddy (aka big ted) who is a bit threadbare but loved! Think I missed that stage of girlie development
as was always a big of a ragamuffin tomboy!
chalky house will be quiet after dmil gone...bet it was lovely for her to have a break! Know that my week in the sun will be fab and am excited
about it already! Hows the teddy addiction?!!
good for you miol! Hope you enjoyed nice company and a cuppa as only a British person can, abroad or not!
I love buttons too! seakay bet we can rescue some at woolfesthingy!! are you excited yet?!!
I feel I should explain for newbies that as you get into the wool addiction that it becomes necessary (with increasing regularity-much to many an oh's dismay!) to rescue poor, sad, lonely, cold, wool from shops (after paying one must add!!) and bring it home to a place of safety and contentment, ready to fulfil its lifes purpose in a loving and secure environment!! As you will see we have a committed group of wool troopers who cary out daring rescue missions (often involving cake, coffee and friends!) throughout europe! Beautifully bonkers as chalky would say!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0
