Offers at Aldi this week from Thursday!
Hugs Suex0 -
Mrs Twins - the offers look great; thanks for posting the link. I shall see if they are in my nearest Aldi!
Puppetlady - I've just watched the video on your blog of the lady making the friendship bracelets! I couldn't get your link to work so I'll postn it here http://puppetystuff.blogspot.com/2010/06/frienship-bracelets.html I loved the grandchildren who were 'helping' her - it really brightened up my morning! I shall give the bracelets a go tomorrow when I've a bit more time; I think they'll be a good way of using up all the 4-ply that I have.. Today is 'chasing up red tape' day!
The sun is beaming madly in a perfect blue sky - spring really is here!

Hello and love to one and all -- well weather has turned really mean here-- wet, windy and cold -- shame for DMIL but hopefully normal service will be resumed tomorrow- She is still beavering away with preemie hats so a little parcel will be winging its way to Shelley in May.
Kathy Hope the red tape has turned green! You must be so wanting to go acuddling!
No Aldi here -- so no temptation!
Shaz -- Lots of gentle thoughts for you.
Pippa -- washing done yet?
Well I am about to attempt a slimline teddy. Will let you know how I get on later.
Dpixie- How are you -- have not heard from your corner of France lately x

Oh Chalky, what a shame - its been a GLORIOUS day here in the UK!
Good luck with the skinny teddies.
I'm still struggling to get my cardy finished, then I can bash on with some puppets! And try some of the crochet ideas that have been emerging of late.
Have a nice evening everyone!0 -

Hi everyone,
Just popping in to ask some advice, this seems like the best place to ask! My nan taught me how to knit many moons ago but I have all but forgotten. I'm now looking to pick it up again as a bit of a hobby. Can anyone recommend a good book or website or general source of information for beginners? And what sort of equipment (for want of a better word!) should I be buying?
It's been about 20 years since I held a pair of needles so be gentle with me!
Thanks in advance!:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -
Hi 4nnabella and welcome. Have a look here for starters.http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=how+to+knit+for+beginners&aq=1
Your best bet is DK (double knit) yarn and size 4mm needles.
Let us know how you get on and good luck.0 -
Just realised that most of those instructions will be American and some of their terminology is slightly different to ours so if in doubt please ask, there's always someone here who can help.0

Chalky I just love your Teddy puppets, especially the hearts, such a clever touch.0

Morning all, been MIA again for a couple of days, life getting in the way again.:p
Chalky - chunky teds are cute, how are the skinny ones doing ? Are they an obsession yet ?
re - little J. The wee monkey can now do a mean bum shuffle and gets around at a fair pace Starting to try to pull himself up with table and chairs so just a matter of time now till he gets properly mobile, then look out world :rotfl:
Kathy - good to hear your BiL is getting treatment now. Hope for good news soon. Hope you are managing to get the red tape untangled so that you can get home for lots of cuddles with the littlies.
4nnabella - http://www.learn2knit.co.uk/knitting.php this is a UK site so the terms used will be more familiar - unless you are American of course
Don`t be afraid to shout if you get stuck with anything, there will usually be someone along fairly soon who might be able to steer you in the right direction, we all had to learn and as in your case re-learn. Enjoy.
Well, had to go to Aldi for some veggies and the wool was just opposite the carrotsUsual baby wool in pink, blue, lemon, green pastels as well as white but I`ve got plenty of that stashed away. Was tempted tho` - came home with a pack of a raspberry sort of colour and a ......mmm wellllll...can`t think of the colour really - sort of blueygreeny, not teal bit more green - must have a name but brain won`t oblige right now. I`ll probably wake up in the middle of the night and recall it
There was also red, a proper green, a light terracotta, purple bright pink and a couple of other colours I think, all DK at £4.99 for 500g. They also had aran weight but not a big selection of colours there and the scarf kits. Could have spent a small fortune - well a LARGE fortune really - but trying to keep some pennies to spend at the knitting show at Perth in May.
Must finish off the sleeping bag I`m doing first although my fingers are itching to open one of the new packs, and I`m very easily tempted.......maybe tomorrow though if I get cracking on it today.
Have a good day all, back later maybe.
Elaine.x
ETA - had a wee snooze (not been sleeping at night) and BINGO ! the colour I was searching my so called brain for is Jade. At least I didn`t wake at silly o`clock in the middle of the night.Fully paid up member of S.A.B.L.E.
