I should have pointed out to you all that you need to log in on the Loving Hands site for the Pattern Collection, sorry my single brain cell has been a bit squished this last couple of weeks.

I also have the Monster Watch to commence on Thursday evening through until next Tuesday Morning, so that will be great fun, I have a timetable of all their events.....cor I will be really thin when I get back up here. The parents are off for a quick birthday break to the UK. PARTY TIME .....erm NOPE. I shall put the Mrs Sensible Head on for the whole time but we will have fun too.

Think it will be sewing machine today and ease myself back in gently

CHALKY, would you mind if I put a link to your CROCHET BAG tutorial onto the LH Patterns Collection thingamiejig? I see I have also missed the boat with the purses, so will go see what Little boys like, what about the eyeball juggling balls - oh wait a moment they cost me a load to post cos I stuffed them with lentils....will think about that one over the course of the day.
Have a smashing day everybody, -2C overnight but the promise of +12C - yep I believe that one cos the sun is already up................yipeee

    HI everyone

I've done the update which you can find by clicking into my name at the side of this post, then going to my 'homepage'. If I've made any mistakes, please let me know and I'll put them right!

F1 - thanks for the congratulations. Yes, mother and baby are doing very well indeed. Having seen both my sons and their families together on Skype yesterday, I am feeling like a very lucky girl indeed!

Well, today I shall see if my new internet browser will let me in to Loving Hands. Firefox wouldn't despite all my efforts; I'm on Opera 11.01 now which does seem a lot easier to work with.

I'm painting today (which I hate but it has to be done!). DH is breaking through a granite stone wall to put in a lintel and a new doorway today - but not here, yippee - someone else has all the dust! They're away at the moment and I'm hoping that DH and the chap he's working with will be able to get rid of most of the dust before they come back.

It's the most beautiful day here - a beaming sun and cloudless blue skies; apparently, the rest of the week will be the same. Shame I didn't have enough washing to justify putting the machine on.

Anyway, I shall paint for another hour then have lunch and take some time off this afternoon to sit outside in the sun and do some woolly stuff - as long as I don't get any interruptions, which is what usually happens!

Anyway, I shall see if I can get into Loving Hands now - I still have coffee in my cup so I'm not resuming painting until it's all gone!

    Have a great day, everyone.

F1 when you log in to Loving Hands on the main (whole) board index page half way down is a section PATTERN CENTRAL....its the middle of the three options available LINK TO LOVING HANDS PATTERN LISTINGS there is only one posting in the section called LOVING HANDS PATTERN COLLECTION................the link on the first post takes you to the whole thing, which might just be a list of names on your screen, but you just click any of them. Then in the right hand column there is a next button so you can scroll through -you don't need a google account or sign in on google. I would love to have your feedback when you try it - that way if anything needs sorted or made easier we can try and do it and you are not dim, well no more than I am anyway!

top up the coffee cup Kathy, you may be a while

Kathy have a lovely day not being Dave!
Jean Would be thrilled if you flagged up the purses -- so link away. Thanks so much for considering the boys for Aunt Dorothy but totally understand about posting costs. Wish we were coming up by this summer in the Sunshine Bus!
F1 I use photobucket and copy and paste URL -- Works for me. I agree the purses are really addictive and I really have used up some of the wool which was a little rough for babies clothes

Will send a message to the Puppet Lady as she is a friend on Facebook and get her address!

Well returned to Yoga this morning so am really chilled now -bet I will be stiff in the morning!

Love to one and all -- Salome what are your lovely bunch up to these days?
I am off to try a puppet like a teddy will report back later.
Try and do a good deed every day.
  • F1- imageshack....they just changed one wee bit - here's how it works now.....I only just posted it on LH yesterday

Some clear instructions below for adding photo's using imageshack - which have changed just recently (other mediums are available).

OPEN A TAB on Loving Hands and go to doing a post
Using either QUICK REPLY or FULL EDITOR
OPEN ANOTHER TAB on IMAGESHACK (note its best to do this in the am before the net gets busy)

The screen that comes up has a BLUE BUTTON marked UPLOAD NOW next to it can't upload? Try this. CLICK ON THE CAN'T UPLOAD/TRY THIS.
    New Screen up

check that the image size is reading 640 x 480 (for message boards) with a tick alongside it
also check yes or no for the LABEL THUMB option - depending on what you want to do

click the BROWSE BUTTON to locate your photos on your computer or IF you have an account go there and choose your photo
pick your photo and click on OPEN, then back on the imageshack click on UPLOAD NOW....wait while it loads through and
takes you to the next screen - you should see a copy of your upload in the small screen
go down and left click on FORUM CODE or ALT FORUM CODE to copy the code into
TAB YOU HAVE OPEN FOR LOVING HANDS and paste the code into the post, submit your post.

OK print them off and go see if it works

If you have any trouble, let me know, I am always happy to assist.
    xx

    Hello everyone!
I'm Janet and I'm the puppet lady.

I've been lurking on this site for a number of days after Chalky told me about this group, and posted a couple of my patterns, which I am delighted about.

I see everyone is busy making purses for Aunty Dorothy, which is marvellous, but if you have any to spare, I'd be more than happy to receive them too. I am involved with the Samaritan's Purse Charity which operates the Operation Christmas Child (OCC) campaign each year. I help to organise the group in my area which checks the contents of all the shoeboxes donated, to make sure everything is suitable to be sent. We usually get through a large number of 'fillers' which we put into boxes if we have to remove something else. (This may be because it is not clean or in good condition, or is war-related, or unsuitable for other reasons). We might also just add a little something to a box that doesn't have much in it - just so the children all get a nice full box.

Somebody asked what could be made for boy's boxes, and of course puppets are suitable for boys as well as girls, which is one reason why I like to make them. Another thing that you could make is cuddly snakes - these are good for boy boxes too.

You can find a pattern for these on my blog side-bar. (They're best made with chunky wool and large sized double pointed or circular needles but are very quick to knit up.) (Sorry, because I'm a new user, the system won't let me post links to my blog, otherwise I'd have made things easier for you!)

I'm more than happy to receive knitted or crochet items as fillers - just pm me for my address if you wish to send anything.
Hats, scarves and gloves/mittens are always very acceptable too.

I'm happy to answer any questions about donating for OCC and happy to have joined this group!

    Thanks for reading!

But Chalky - I'm painting, and I call that being Dave! Anyway, I've stopped now and gone on strike while I crochet for a couple of hours in the sun.

Jean - thanks for the info. I always used to use Imageshack after Maytaurus recommended it, and it worked really well. I liked it because the pictures didn't turn out too big on the page. Since it changed, I've used Flickr so you just click into the link, but I'll try your instructions for Imageshack a bit later.

The famous Puppetlady! A warm welcome to you; how lovely to see your post!

I've been wracking my brain thinking what to make for boys. I experimented with bookmarks but then thought that some children may not have books, so I scotched that idea, but snakes really appeal! Would you pm me the address to send them to, please? I am so glad you've joined us.
