aww congratulations miol and chalky on new babies! Wonder what was going on 9 months ago - thats 3 babies I know of in a week!!
Quilt is coming on and now just the top edges to striaghten and finish and then the quilting which is the hard bit as its so big! Wont be able to use my little table as the weight makes machining impossible as it slips off due to the weight. Will take some time to do though so not going to be done overnight...Thankfully there was almost enough fabric for the backing but Ill need to be careful with my cutting and not get it wrong as REALLY cant afford to make any mistakes...no wooly stuff done but hope to finish cat blanket some time this week. Got a quiet weekend planned again to recoup from a busy week in work! Thankfully I have some time off next week...definately getting old!
Nice to "see you" PTB, salome and Kinsey!
What quilt are you doing socky? Do you have a pattern?Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
Thank you so much, everyone. Her name is Megan and she weighed in at 8lbs 12ozs. The wonders of technology meant that I've already had photos and she's truly gorgeous - another one who looks just like her mother!
It's only now that I realised I've had an awful headache all day - I think it was the worry, but now I can raise a glass or three tonight to the wonderful addition to our family.
Kinsey - it's not as simple as holiday insurance, sadly. When we lived in the UK we were covered, like everyone is, by the NHS. When you move to another country in Europe, you have reciprocal cover for two years but, after two years, you have to make other arrangements. Our two years expired in January, so we are in the process of going down a different route, which is taking its time like everything does here! We will be chasing it up from tomorrow because I am desperate to get back and see the whole family.
Anyway, where's that bottle of wine?!

Hi everyone and thank you so much for all your good wishes and congratulations; they mean such a lot to me, and it's lovely to have you all to share such good news with, so thanks for being there!
Chalky - it's a real coincidence, isn't it? And so close in weight, too! There's two new precious little girls whose birthdays won't be forgotten in a hurry! I hope Isla Hope is doing well and that her mum is recovering well. My DIL2 looked lovely in the photo that DS2 sent - I wish I'd looked that good after having my two! DS2 has already Skyped this morning, before taking Summer to hospital to meet her new sister. The nurses said that the baby was born hungry, apparently, and was trying to suck her thumb. She went straight onto the breast with no problem at all, and slept right through the night, so that's a good start. Let's hope it continues like that but, with one child of seventeen months, and a new baby, I think it will be challenging! It's DIL2's birthday today, so I'm wondering if they have enough space on their mantelpiece for all the cards!
Anyway, I'm going to try and finish a present I've made for Summer that I will send when I send my baby pressies - I thought it would be nice for her to open a present especially for her.
I'm still floating around on a cloud so I'm not sure how much I'll get done today!
