hi all - had the tv chap here this morning (now have an ex-english chap who is lovely and very helpful). tv is working with sat/freebox and i have the football on in front of me. its so boring - neither portugal nor brazil have anything to play for at this stage.
pam - how lovely to see you. i am so glad that you are feeling better. re your resolution. can you believe i felt exactly the same way. i am a sucker for a sad story (and i know how i hated the winters in south africa when i went back - nights are really very cold as the houses dont have central heating/double glazing or carpets - as its too hot in summer). i have made a resolution too - i do hope to keep it. anyway, good on you!
kathy - tell me about the trollies - i think some of these people need a driving lesson. also, i have noticed that old people always queue-jump. i was told that it was quite the done thing as the oldies dont like waiting too long, so they just push in front. i can tell you that i was not impressed. i cant believe that its evening again and almost time for another glass of something interesting.
jean - you are right about people recognising you in the shops. a while ago i was shopping with my OH and he was rabbiting on about something and i was miles away and walked through the isle and started putting the stuff into my bags - only ... it was not my stuff. the man in front had walked off in order to get some boxes to put his groceries in and i thought they were mine. i was so embarassed, my husband told me off and the cashier thought that i was trying to nick the old chaps stuff. how silly of me. i have not done that since, but they still do watch me at the shop.
hi there isom - good luck with the work stuff, i will be thinking of you.
anyway, i suppose its time to tidy up for the day and wait for the gardener to come and check out his stuff (he planted some things that have since died and i want them replaced). then for some (hopefully) interesting telly, dinner, a glass of wine and some more hooking in order to reach my total of 12 little jumpers before the beginning of october.
have a fab evening everyone - i hope you are loving the sunshine.

Hi all - been busy today helping DH with the outside of the house. He needed to get some more bricks for the doorstep so I decided I'd go with him and he could drop me off at the haberdashery shop. He didn't get what he needed but I did, and more! I bought some buttons I needed to revamp a raincoat, and a gorgeous pink bib with a cross-stitch panel to embroider, which I will do for Summer. I've got loads of embroidery thread and plenty of cross-stitch patterns - just have to decide what to do!
Pam - how wonderful to hear from you. I'm so glad you've left that dark place behind, and hope it never bothers you again.
DPixie - I haven't noticed the old ladies queue-jumping; I bet I do from now on! Glad you've got the TV sorted.
MrsMW - I thought I recognised your name! Hadn't realised it was from the OS daily thread. I haven't been on that for a good couple of weeks - don't know why. I keep meaning to post on there; I used to be a regular, too, and it's a thread I really enjoyed being a part of. Good luck with the knitting - I hope it does ease your symptoms.
Jean - good to hear from you. I hope you are managing to take some time off. Six months until C*******s, eh? I must admit I was thinking about that as I was going to sleep last night! Nothing like panicking early, is there?
Anyway, I've been ironing this afternoon, after the morning spent helping DH. The weather has been so so hot but it's quite cool inside, thankfully, although too cold in the winter!
Anyway, hope you all have a great evening.

Mioliere & Dpixie, one of the very first things I was TOLD to do in supermarkets was to let elderly and pregnant people in front of me, which I do automatically these days.
I have never forgotten taking my old neighbour shopping (couple of years before she died) and she stormed to the front of the queue, demanding I pass her all her goods. I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me, not one person batted an eye. She used to also demand on another till being opened if the queques were bad and because of her age (84) she jolly well got it too, perhaps its a respect for the elderly thing. I do know its alive and kicking in Brittany.
Glad you have the telly sorted anyway Dpixie, and trollies here are specially adapted - they go all over the place without any assistance from anyone! The Hooligan Wooligan – age 9¾

:wave:Evening all, been a bit antisocial lately (head has definitey been in a bucket) but I`ve been in lurking mode, just to make sure you are behaving.
Good to see you Pam, glad you`re feeling a bit better. Sorry about your DS, is that the one who was up north of me ?
Glad to see the `mum`s` seem to be improving - less worry for the families.
Jean - remember to take your knitting (and enough `smalls`) when you go back to Janette`s - hope everything goes OK at the hospital.
dpixie - hope you`ve recovered from your marathon drive and are relaxing now into your French lifestyle.
Seems to have been very quiet on here lately, everyone watching footie or tennis maybe. I don`t do either, I`m not a sports fan.
Been busy with the knitting though. Have finished a Sands blanket and started another one and done some more squares in between. Not been in the right frame of mind for concentrating on anything with a pattern, so easy stuff only.
Right, off to do a few more rows till it`s time to pick up DS from work.
Oh nearly forgot Welcome MrsMW, I`m sure you`ll like it here and look forward to seeing you over on Loving Hands too. There are a few of us from here on there as well.
Sorry if I`ve missed anything important, brain is mushier than usual.
Hugs for anyone who needs one - oh heck make that one for everyone - you all deserve it.
See you soon.

morning all. when i am in france i tend to sleep with the shutters open, so wake up pretty early. it is lovely here and i have walked around the garden with a cup of coffee, dealt with my e-mails and am now thinking about listening to the news and doing a bit of hooking before i go out and visit the weekly market for some fruit and veg.
i was so concerned about the little african children last night, i was crocheting in my sleep - at about 50 miles per hour as i thought i was going too slow and was not producing enough for them. i will just have to take it easy and when i go and collect OH from the airport tonight, i will take my hooking and do some whilst i wait for him. as it is the last easyjet flight into toulouse tonight, it may be late - has been known to be 5 hours late, so that could be a lot of work done. my crochet bag is stocked and so i am ready.
well ladies, i hope that you are all having a lovely weekend and not working too hard and none of that housew*rk to be done! its an instruction, this may be your whole summer (this weekend) so enjoy it to the max.
jean - thanks for that, i must be honest, when i mentioned the queue-jumping to someone, they put me straight immediately, and although i think it a little cheeky, if it were my grandma or even me in 40 years time, i would want the same!
kathy - i hope that you have not got too much labouring planned for today - perhaps you can take it a little slower today as its weekend - in lieu of overtime!
by the way - spoke to the gardening chappie yesterday who promised me the fleece from all of his 6 sheep (for nothing) so that i can spin them into wool - am very excited.
have a great day everyone, i will be thinking of you all - to be honest, you are all well known here already (my knitting ladies that i talk to on the internet) - people here think you are very kind and generous.

Hi everyone - absolutely gorgeous weather here again. I think we're all getting it at the moment - let's hope it lasts!
Elaine - good to hear from you. Hope everything is going well and that Jayden is well.
DPixie - hope your DH's plane is not too late although you are obviously going prepared! How lovely of the gardener to give you all those fleeces - would be great if you could post photo of 'before' and 'after' when you've turned them all into things!
Kinsey - I've just found these two patterns; now I don't know which one to do for my granddaughter's birthday! The squares one is really special, I think, and great for using up scraps of wool.

Well, I have dusting (yawn, yawn!) to do, floors to wash and veggies to prep, before I can treat myself to some hooking.
Hope you all have a great day.

Good Morning everybody
Just a quick pop on to say hello as we are supposed to be packing up to move to the top end of Brittany today!
Well trip has been amazing so far and of course the highlight was spending time with Kathy It was so lovely and as you all predicted it felt like we had known each other for ever. Just lovely. Her home is wonderful and after even more hard work it will be even more so.
It was lovely that Mr Chalky and Mr M got on really well. They were soon at work with the tools and it felt so lovely just to be a part of everything.
So now we have driven on with a lovely warm glow of friendliness and happy memories.
Well hooking has been going on big time as we travel --- over a 1000 miles now!
Well I must go and wash up -- my turn!!
Lots of love to one and all, welcome to the newbies and special gentle thoughts to anyone with their hands full!! Hope the lurkers are feeling a bit brighter
Will probably have to wait now til next Weds when we get home to speak again but I think of you all often xTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
Oh, Chalky - what lovely words! I can assure you that the pleasure was all ours - we thoroughly enjoyed your company, and your visit was over all too soon. Safe trip back to the UK - will look forward to your next post!

Posting this now as I am still in a bit of a flat spin and might not get back on over the weekend. Bit of Barbie going on this afternoon, friends, family and neighbours all due at 4pm and I want to be "prepared" (that will be a first).
Lovely to see you Chalky, hope your meander round Brittany is going well, you certainly have got some sunshine, I am in the big floppy hat every time I go out the door.
Elaine, don't beat yourself up, its early days still, I think we all understand "Edna Bouquet" some more than most eh.
Knitting is packed and ready as is the SMALLS, plenty of them this time as we don't know how long they will keep Janette for, fingers crossed its a quick in and out.
Right off for a shower then get stuck into some serious prep, might even have to force myself into a glass of something cool while I am at it.
Love to everybody, hope to pop in quickly tomorrow and catch up before I leave for the MONSTER sitting.
Have a great weekend, hope you are all getting this glorious weather where you are

Morning all
Not been in AGAIN for a few day's, too much on I'm afraid.
MIL is back home and settled in moaning as usual, as OH said a sure sign she is better:rotfl:
My Mum had the endoscopy on Friday and they found out she has a swelling in the Duodenum which could be the start of an ulcer, also a small Hiatus Hernia, which the doctor seems to think is what stops food going down, apparently it is the swelling around it which is the problem. She did'nt even have the sedation just the throat spray.
My Mum is amazing she takes it all in her stride and lets nothing faze her, they all were surprised when they realised she is 88.
I have'nt done much of anything except running around and washing, did do a few squares though will do my update next. My friend Jo has done a few squares as well so will put those on
My DIL is doing the Run for Lfe today down in West Sussex, she lost her Mum when she was only 9 to bowel cancer. She is a lovely girl and has given us 2 beautiful little grand-daughters the lights of my life:smileyhea:happylove
Better go and get stuff done,
TTFN
Anne
