hi all - kathy - i am indeed in france - although it took me 16 hours with 2 x 10 minute stops for petrol and a "pit stop"(so to speak). i kept my eyes peeled on the road for the sunshine bus, but did not see it - however, whenever i thought that chalky might me in the 100kms around me i waved like mad anyway. it was something to do other than talk to tim the satnav man. i must admit that i was absolutely exhausted when i arrived home. i locked the car (with everything in it) opened the house and a bottle of wine, made some toast, had a glass of wine and went straight to bed.

today the weather is lovely and i have done all the shopping for the week and am hoping the telly man will arrive as planned tomorrow. i have a huge bag of wool, some wool tops and my new spinning wheel to amuse me for the rest of the week until OH arrives. does that sound like bliss or what.

anyway, hope all are well and that you are enjoying the lovely weather.

    speak soon

Welcome home, DPixie - well done on your marathon journey! I remember mine well, and how exhausting it was, although it wasn't as long as yours! I hope you settle in well and wish you lots of luck now that you are finally here.

Hello everybody, I've been lurking on your thread for ages and decided to join you. I wanted to tell you about a lovely site I have found that has lovely bargain priced yarns. It's called Hejhog.co.uk and is well worth a look. I placed an order on Sunday and it arrived today, beautifully packed and free postage if you order over £24. I got some gorgeous Artesano alpaca and I can't stop squidging it. They also have organic and natural toiletries and the most lovely baby clothes, look in the clearance section.
I have nothing to do with the site, just wanted to share.
I only recently started knitting again and now I can't stop, got 5 things on the go just now.
    Must go DH wants feeding.

    Afternoon all

Where is everyone??? It's been very quiet on here lately hope all are ok

Just waiting to find out when MIL will be allowed out, hopefully tomorrow.

Mum rang this morning the appointment for the Endoscopy has come, it's for tomorrow morning at the new Queen Elizabeth
Hospital. Glad it's come through so quickly.

:wave:Welcome to you MrsMW glad you decided to join us....oooo a new site how exciting off to have a look, not that I really need any more stash but no harm in looking is there ;)
MrsTwins - thank you so much for your lovely card the blankets on the front are gorgeous x
Kathy - hope things have settled down in Chez Mioliere now you're back on your lonesomes again.

Just finished reading 'Divas Dont Knit' and 'Needles and Pearls' by Gil McNeil really enjoyed both of them, was even better because they follow on. Mum read them first and said you should'nt read these they have some SWEARING in them.....how old does she think I am :rotfl:

Had a good knit last night squares mainly. I have been doing Russian Joins with all my ends of yarns and have a ball about the size of a satsuma now.
I'll use it for the IS hats like I did last year, got about 20 out of the ball I had last time. They come out ok as well sort of stripey :)

Off for a :coffee: have good days all

hi everyone - hope you are all okay - welcome mrsmw hope you enjoy your stay here.

kathy, thank you for the welcome home - i am loving it. the weather is perfect (and the neighbours have thanked me for bringing it) and the pool is warm, there is lots of ice in the fridge - perfect. i have done some hooking, and was glad that i did after receiving the update mail from knit a square. i was reminded how cold and nasty it is at the moment in south africa and how those orphans must be suffering. i have started unpacking my stash in order to motivate myself to finish at least one little jumper a week until i go, that should a) take up no more than half of my suitcase space and b)keep at least 12 kiddies warm.

oh well i am going to do a bit of hooking and then take myself outside to enjoy the warmth.

    have a fab day everyone.

Pippa - well done on having the patience to do Russian joins with all the ends! Glad the appointment for your mum has come through so quickly - far better than having to wait ages. Good luck to her.

DPixie - glad you are enjoying yourself after all the hassle of moving and driving there! The weather really is gorgeous, isn't it? Far too hot for hanging around in the supermarket while the French leisurely load their shopping on to the conveyor belt while chatting away to the cashier! Took me no time at all to load my trolley but twenty minutes almost to get through the till - and I was last in a queue of only three! Still, that's the shopping all done for the week. I find Thursday lunchtime to be the quietest time and it's great that the supermarkets stay open all day now.

Well, I'm balanced on the edge of my office chair because the cat has taken a shine to it and I don't have the heart to get him off! Not very comfy so I'm off for a glass of the lovely lemonade I made with the lemons Chalky brought me from Spain.
