By the way - I really haven't forgotten the update. It just fell to the back of my mind - I will concentrate on it tomorrow. I hope you will all forgive me.

hi kathy - i am loving being here. its a bit lacking in stimulation as the tv is still not set up and i am running to and fro trying to get it sorted. why is it so difficult?

i am going to have to do my shopping tomorrow as i have once made the mistake of leaving it until saturday - took me ages to get through the till line - i think i must have aged about 3 years during that time.

oh well, time for a bit of "talking books" (pride and prejudice - again, i think) and a bit of hooking with a glass of wine to help things along.

    have a lovely evening all

DPixie - sorting out the TV is just one problem! We brought our old Sky box from the UK (no longer subscribe) and bought a satellite here which DH installed himself; it was actually easy. You can find the settings by googling something like 'satellite settings for Sky box - it only took ten minutes to get it all set up and running. We use that with a portable in the kitchen but, for our bigger TV, we brought a Freesat box from the UK - they run off the same satellite. Not a heck of a lot of choice of channels but we get all the usual British ones. You have to key in a postcode on each box - we used our old UK one so we get the news that is local to our part of the UK. Having not had TV for almost six months, we didn't really miss it but the thought of long winter nights made us decide to get it organised!

Good luck with the shopping! It's not just getting through the tills in this part of France; it's also negotiating people who can't use a shopping trolley!

Have a good evening - I'm about to join you in a glass wine. Now that is something the French know all about! Sante!

    Hi
Been quite a week. Took two daughters to Gatwick on Wednesday they were off to the USA to see their sister. Nice early start. They needed to be there by 6am due to a 9am take off. Takes us about 2 1\2hrs to get to the airport, so it was a 3.30am out the house. I decided not to go to bed Tuesday night, as I'm not the worlds best sleeper, felt it wasn't worth it lol. So stayed up and cat napped in the car(I wasn't driving lol, hubby was doing that) Then had a couple of busy days doing all sorts, but couldn't tell you what lol. Anyway. Hope to do some clicking with the needles later, though today looks like a day that's going to run away with me !!! Oh well whats new lol.
Have a blessed and prosperous day. Hugs to all who need them ((((hugs)))) Love you all.

    Good morning everyone!

Well here I am, I know its been ages since I posted anything but I have been lurking, trying to keep up with whats been happening.

I’ve finally come out of the dark place – its been a difficult few months, more family problems, broken relationships (not mine) etc. The upshot is my DS is now living with me while trying to sort his life out. It shouldn’t be too bad as he works mainly offshore – 4week cycles just now – so I get some good company and some necessary solitude.

I’ve just got back from Spain, had a lovely couple of weeks, met some new neighbours plus a family who own the house next but one to mine, we’ve never been there at the same time in the 6 years I’ve had the place.

I’ve done very little knitting/crochet this year but I’m now getting back to it again. The latest newsletters from Knit A Square (a challenge for around 56,000 squares) have decided me on a plan. I’ve set an objective for myself of at least 5 squares a week for starters – this should help me reduce the stash a bit (I can’t stop rescuing wool from Kemps!) To keep it interesting I’ve bought myself the “200 Blocks” books, both knitting & crochet – good old amazon had them reduced by 40% - but I think I’ll start off with a couple of diagonals.

Before I close, I want to thank you all so much for the good wishes, hugs and prayers posted so often on this thread – it really helps to know that there are such kind, loving people within reach.

    Blessings to all.

Hi everyone, thanks for the lovely welcome. I can't promise to post regularly, it depends how my bones are for typing. I used to post on the OS Daily, but I'm afraid my OS has gone a bit. Still old though.
I haven't knitted for about 20 years, but I have an Arthritis type illness which has worsened and I can no longer do a lot of things so I was very depressed. My Dr suggested knitting to keep my fingers moving and although it was difficult at first I am now addicted again. I have a selection of needles, bamboo, quite good, Ivore, OK but a bit fragile, Brittany Bich, lovely, but best of all, Kollage square needles. Very easy to hold, not a bit sticky and produces very "crisp" looking stitches.
I made lots of baby things for my stepson & wife but then didn't know what to do because I can't do big things, too heavy, so I made kiddies clothes to give to the local charity shop. However I now intend to join Loving Hands and I have 7 toddler size sweaters to send when I finish the sewing up. I'm also doing a lap blanket for my neighbour's 90th birthday, I knitting strips of squares to avoid all the joins.
Sorry it's so long, just wanted to introduce myself.
Have a nice day and enjoy the sun.

  • Mrs Rush around here again, just trying to keep up with you all and failing miserably I hasten to add. Mioliere bet you and Chalky had a great time chatting and crocheting, hope you don't miss her too much, its horrid when the visitors go, isn't it?
French supermarkets Thursday - you were lucky to find one open....it was a general strike yesterday, something about the pension age going to be 62 in France, as I say you were jolly lucky to find one open. I do know what you mean about the queue, its the best place to practice your French tho', once they get to know you its just like being in the UK and they do eventually smile at you - least the ones I use do.
Dpixie, glad to see that your suitably esconced in the lap of luxury that is your home in France, wine on tap, sunshine to boot - can't really ask for much more than that can you?
Heard on the wireless today its exactly 6 months to CH..st..s - so I am going to make a start on some little snow men and stockings and this year be ready for all those last minute fairs!!! Well, that's the plan, but as DSIL and her bloke are still here and we are due to have DS the first couple of weeks in July (instead of his usual month), can't see that being undertaken just yet.
Doing hand knitting this week - boobies only, and I am off down to look after the three wee monsters on Sunday while Janette is in Hospital for three days of tests, so won't have a great deal of time to post YET AGAIN.
Lovely to see Mrs MW - do like to have new folk joining in.
Also must say I am so pleased to see you again Pam, what a big surprise that was for me to-day.
Kinsey - see your a grandma - at least I think that was what I read, honestly I don't know if I am on my head or my heals these days. Still the sun is shining and the washing is all up to date, so I believe I shall go sit in the garden for a wee while and try and take it easy.
Cuddles and great big love washing over everybody, hope to be back again soon
