    Hi

I've been caught up with all sorts and haven't managed to get on again for ages. Bit of a lull in life at the mo so have grabbed the chance to log in :-)
Haven't had chance to catch up with posts so I trust everyone is well and have enjoyed the last few days.
My needles have been busy knitting fingerless gloves with the mitten flap. Think I can do them in my sleep now lol.
Anyway. Have a blessed and prosperous day. Hugs to all in need ((((hugs)))) love you all.

Hi everyone. Hope you are all OK, and that the weather is improving over there. It's quite mild here at the moment and the sun is shining; a little too early to hope for spring, though, I think!

Chalky - you must be bubbling over with excitement by now. I passed the Clan of the Cave Bear to my mum and both my sisters, and they got hooked on the series, too, so you're not alone. Having thought about the books, I've decided to read the last one now that I've finished the book I was reading. At least, I think it's the last one - The Shelters of Stone. My copy is a huge hardback that I picked up in a charity shop ages ago. I've just looked at the dust-jacket and it says that Ayla and Jondalar have arrived in south west France, which already makes it look intriguing!

Well, it's been a funny few days here. Christmas just seems to come and go over a couple of days in France, and it already feels as though it was weeks ago. The shops are very busy because they have sales on (but not like the sales in the UK - the reduced items seem to be bought in especially for the sales).

I'm still crocheting wristwarmers because they're easy - I shall sort out which ones will be presents (I'm still working on Christmas presents because I have time on my side!), and which ones I can send to LH. Next, I will do some things for the new baby, due in March - if not sooner; when we see DIL2 on Skype, she seems a lot further on than six months!

Salome - good to hear from you.

Maytaurus, I hope you are doing well?

For any newbies and lurkers who would like to join us - please look at post 1885 on page 95 for all the info!

Well, I shall see what I can get done before DH interrupts me to give him a hand with the plasterboarding on the landing ceiling. Once that's finished and plastered, the stairs need finishing off with more spindles, newel posts, and, well, so it goes on!

    Have a great day everyone.

Salome How lovely to see you posting - Happy New Year to you and your family.

Well DS and DDIL left this morning and we set to and sorted the house ready for our departure. So lots of polishing and cleaning and we are getting there. It has been such a miserable day which does not help with the washing!! We have both packed and have actually for the first time ever actually managed to get everything( well not everything ) but what we are taking in the cases we are taking.
I am going to risk plastic children's needles and a bamboo hook on the flight-- spares packed in the other luggage of course!

Well will pop back tomorrow of course but love to one and all x

Now we are just relaxing and trying to keep calm! We are meeting some friends for lunch tomorrow and then DD1 is cooking us a meal tomorrow evening. Then a taxi booked and coach to Heathrow on Friday.
Try and do a good deed every day.
  • Hi there!

    HELLO EVERYONE

i had a quick smile to myself when i read chalky and kathys comments about ayla - i have just re-read the first book of the series and am going to re-read the whole series over the next few weeks. gosh i loved that series, and, i read somewhere, that there might be a sixth book coming! yippee, i would love that, although i do think it is unlikely as the last one took about 15 years to put together.

have done a bit of crochet over the last few days, have set myself a target (once again) of about 15 little jumpers to send over to SA with my SIL when she comes over for a visit.

other than that, as kathy says, the weather has warmed up a bit and should stay like this for a few days and then on saturday, the cold comes back, which is a pity as i have been enjoying working in the "garden" - more like a jungle at the moment.

have a fabulous day everyone, and lucky you to have rescued wool in the sales, no sales in our little village and definitely no wool, poor me, i will just have to continue to use up the stock that i brought with me earlier this year.

    Yoo hoo :hello:
Hope you all had a good Christmas and are looking forward to the New Year :D

Not been on the lappy since Christmas Eve did'nt realise it was that long.
I have decided 2011 is going to be the year of the big clear out, so have been rootling around in the bottom of the wardrobe.....trouble is I keep finding things I had forgotten about and they end up back in there ;)(shoes mainly)
REALLY MUST GET A GRIP AND BE RUTHLESS, havent worn most of them for years :o

Finished off DGS's neck/chest warmer, DS2 popped in earlier so he has taken it over for him, he's at nursery today, havent seen him since Boxing day when we went over for Lunch and had a wonderful time playing with all his new toys.
He loved his blanket and wrapped himself up in it as soon as I gave it to him, :D

Will have an hour later to read back, we are off to Selco now, the handle in the downstairs loo broke off so need to get a replacement PDQ, or I will be running up and down stairs all day to the bathroom :rotfl:

Love and lots of (((hugs))) to all

    Hi everyone

Kinsey - I do hope you are feeling better now; what a shame you had to be ill on Christmas day, you poor thing.

Chalky - bon voyage for tomorrow! Hope the trip goes as smoothly as possible.

DPixie - yes, the Cave Bear books do take a lot of research, judging by the blurb on the dust-jackets, but they are so worth reading, aren't they? I have the fifth ready to start any time now, but I didn't know that a sixth one was being planned, so that's something to look forward to.

Pippa - hope you get the loo handle sorted out!

Well, not much to report here except I've been helping with yet more plasterboarding (or should that be plaster BORING because it is so boring!) It feels as if we must have used up all the plasterboard in France and he's still at it!

    Off to make a cuppa.
