  • Dear Secret Santa,
Thank you so much for my lovely lovely parcel. It was full of lovely treats that were just perfect, a really pretty bone china mug, a fragrance burner with 2 packs of fragrant beads and three balls of beautifully soft pale blue chunky wool. I feel really spoilt.

thank you so much, i hope you had a lovely christmas day

Well had a relaxed but busy christmas! christmas day was church and then lunch with close friends and a game of monopoly which I won (money making strategy actually worked!!) and then early night; yesterday church and trying to research Gaspar the bearded dragon as he didnt seem to happy (think he was cold) and then today is a bit of shopping and a trip to Bristol to see my cousin and meet her new man! Got given two pie dishes (been looking for ages!) - one very posh stone one and one innovative lakeland one that has an inner so you dont have to put baking beans in! Much moving around of furniture as the vivarium was a tad larger than I anticipated!! Its now the tv unit and looks better than it did! Just need to get shot of the turtle... Gaspar is slowly getting the hang of his enclosure and I hope will eat a bit today! Such a worry they are. Will try and do a piccy later to introduce the fella to you!

  • morning all, hope you've all had a wonderful xmas,
may, wonderful to see you posting again, take things easy, and hope you feel 100% soon
it was a very quiet but calm xmas here, me and the boys had our xmas dinner on xmas eve, and spent the whole of xmas day, unwrapping presents, playing games, watching tv , went to see my parents for a couple of hours and exchanged more pressies, mum had bought me amonst other things a crochet book, and some more wool:j
been chatting to a guy online for quite some time now and we spoke on the evening of xmas day, which was lovely, he is back in the uk, at the end of january, and we shall meet up then.
back to my knitting now, before the boys remind me its nearly lunch time, they must have clocks in the stomachs lol
    hugs all

  • PHew....that was a great couple of days gone, but now I need to get back on track....Janette and the monsters left just after lunch, so I have three lots of bedlinen to get washed and dried and its bucketing down (big surprise). I hope you all have a lovely Christmas, didn't eat far to much?? Think I outdid the frock size by yesterday, so will have a bit of a break from the chocolate for a wee while. I see Maytaurus made a lovely colourful entrance too...WELL DONE - you take it easy - you can catch up in very slow time.
Shaz - how exciting, looking forward to hearing how that all goes towards the end of January, fingers crossed for this one too. OK I will have to go and look up GASPER and try and work out how you are going to look after it ISOM but that shouldn't take me too long.
Love and hugs to you all, I will try and get caught up later on this week when Farmer etc all return and I don't have all the running around to do. Take great care as I hear you are still having ROTTEN weather.

Phew here too!!!!!!!!!!!! At least it has started to rain and the snow is starting to disappear!
Well saw DD1 ,partner and Buster off this morning - Packed up to the hilt as we are trying now to get everything from Christmas excess to nothing left by Friday when we start our travels. I have purposely not mentioned it and have been trying not to think about it til after Christmas was over but found myself awake a lot in the night so know excitement is kicking in!

Spent most of the morning tidying( stroking and cuddling )wool stash which was very calming! DDIL -- understands perfectly!

I wish I knew if you were allowed short plastic needles on the flights as that would keep me occupied.

DH and I promised to exchange, like a book for Christmas -- So I gave hime a new James Patterson plus an extra one from the Charity shop --- he well -- I did love it and I can see his reasoning but a Kindle hardly equates but he is right 1 book lasts him 2 weeks whereas 1 book lasts me 2 hours

    HELP PLEASE

I know its a lot down to taste but any all time favourite reads -- As I want to download some
    I don't like Crime or Horror. -- Now there's a surprise!

Well Love and big hugs to all and dragons. So glad everybody seems to have had peaceful Christmas's and new horizons are appearing. xx

time for a coffee now, and a look at the latest knit today mag, it came with free cable needles, and 2011 is the year I WILL LEARN TO CABLE, that my only new years resolution.
last year i promised to use mosre wool than i bought, and failed miserably lol

    Hi everyone.

Chalky - great photo! Why don't you call the airline and ask about the knitting needles? If they are not allowed, I'm sure a crochet hook is not classed as a dangerous weapon. I hope you can take something - after all, it's going to be a long flight! I know we've talked books before but my all time favourite is Forever Amber by Kathleen Winsor, and my next favourite is Wild Swans by Jung Chang, followed by Sky Burial by Xinran (a true story and one of the most emotional books I have ever read). For real escapism, try The Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean Auel (along with the four, maybe five, books that take the story further). Then there's The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, by Mark Haddon, and A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian, by Marina Lewycka - both really unusual but compelling reads. At the moment I've nearly finished a book that I haven't enjoyed (so I won't recommend it!) but , once I've read it, I think I will start Charlotte Gray, by Sebastian Foulkes. Anyway, I hope you find something you like!

Sounds like everyone's been busy while I've just been pottering around. I've had some lovely Skype calls with the family, which has helped to make them feel a little closer, although I really think we will find a way of having Christmas back in the UK next year; I don't think I can stand another one without seeing them all for real!

No further news about my BIL - he is due to see the consultant on 4th Jan, which seems ages away. He and my sister had a lovely Christmas day, though; their DSD1 and his family stayed with them and took over the cooking completely and they really enjoyed the day with them.

Shaz - good luck! I really hope things work out for you - you so deserve it.

It's still quite cold here but not really freezing, and we've had lovely sun all day which makes everything look more cheerful.

Well, I had better think about dinner. Yesterday, I ate very little, having completely binged on Christmas day! Pudding, I think, will be choccies - we seem to have amassed several boxes and, of course, we can't waste them, can we?

I hope you all have a lovely evening.
