  • for comfy socks around the house u could use dk, but for socks to wear with boots or trainers, sock wool is best, as it is harder wearing xxx

A very Happy Happy Christmas to you all! I hope you like this photo - it shows some of the lovely decorations that have been put up in the main square of our nearest town here in France!

Maytaurus - I cannot begin to describe how good it feels to hear from you; you've been sorely missed by us all, and I truly hope that next year brings you and your family all the health and happiness that you deserve.

Although I would truly love to be back at home with the family, DH and I are spending today in very good company, and I know we will have a lovely Christmas. I so hope that all of you have a wonderful day today.

Thank you all for being 'there' for me this year, especially over the last few weeks when the foundations of my little world have been turned upside down. Your support has meant such a lot, and really does make a difference.

Thank you, also, for another successful year for the thread, and for all your time and generosity in making so many wonderful things for those less fortunate than ourselves - so many more lives enriched and enhanced; it truly warms the heart!

I hope that you and your families have the most wonderful day today.

    Happy Christmas to you all!

hello everyone and a happy boxing day to you all - its quiet around here, i dont even think that a cow has given birth today (they seem to on every other day) it feels so strange with no one around, even the farmer is away with his in-laws.

anyway the sun is shining, its freezing outside and OH is in front of the telly watching footie. i am in my study reading a "christmas book" and crocheting and am as happy as larry, however, would be happier if someone brought me a coffee!

thank you wonderful people for being around for so long, for being there when i needed an ear (especially you kathy - i have needed more than an ear from you) and also for being the lovely kind, giving people you are and making me feel that my skill in crochet is not something strange or odd, its something that can be used for the good of others. its at this time of the year that i know that my efforts are worth something. thank you for helping me realise that.

    have a peaceful day all

Hi everyone. I hope you all had a lovely day yesterday, and that the rest of the Christmas season is just as good for you and your families.

DPixie - thank you so much for your kind words. I'm only too glad that I've been able to help; I know how much Jean has helped me with all things French since I moved here. It is lovely to know that there are now three of us here!

We had a lovely day at DH's aunty and uncle's yesterday; great company, way too much delicious food, and an easy relaxed feel to the day, surrounded by numerous cats and dogs all sleeping in each other's baskets! After a huge dinner, we had a quiz which was great fun and such a good idea - we all enjoyed it and, because we were all adults, there was a great deal of cheating going on! Of course, I missed the family a great deal so it was lovely to have a day that made not being with them a little less painful.

Today, we've just completely chilled out and done next to nothing and, of course, this will extend into this evening and maybe tomorrow, too!

I hope you are all having a lovely day and that the weather is not causing too many problems. Here, it's absolutely freezing cold but it has been bright and sunny all day, as it was yesterday. The sky was so clear last night, I could hardly believe how many stars were in the sky - I hope they are shining on us all.
