You are all so important to me and we are all really important to one another so lets hope the love and support that is here for us all continues to flourish in 2011.
I know so many are finding this Christmas particularly hard and my gentlest thoughts go out to each and everyone of you. Such an emotive time of year. A time filled with memories which definitely become more poignant as we climb the ladder of age!

We need some pictures of little Jayden, and news of the gorgeous grandchildren Summmer, William and Pippa's gorgeous little grandchildren and news of the "littlies" in Purple Teddy Bears house and F1's son add a sprinkling of Shaz's boys and anyone else who is nurturing the next generation because that is truly where the future lies. May they have days full of hope and happiness.

I am going to my great nieces Christening tomorrow and am in the middle of knitting her a hat as they arrived for the special occasion and Christmas from Abu Dhabi to day!!!!!!!!!

Love and lots of it to one and all x

  • evening all, can't believe where the time has gone today, this is the first opportunity i've had all day to look in, ok so i may have been online earlier, but only to chat to a friend, via yahoo messenger.
kathy, , hugs for u and your family, i'm not good with words, but i want u to know i'm thinkiing and praying for you and your family
and i know you miss family at this time of the year.
it was 19 years ago now that i lost my grandad, xmas stopped being the same from then on, of course i made the effort and shared the excitement of my own kids, but now they are teens, they dont seem that bothered about xmas, in fact daniel, said, i cant wait to go back to school, so he can study for his exams
the only excitement from josh is when he sees all the xmas food we have in the fridge and cupboards, the extra treats that we dont normally have.
also this time last year i was still with my ex, i havent missed him in ages, but i do feel lonely sometimes, no one to share things with, except the friend i chat to on yahoo, and you lot of course
i dont know how i would have coped without all your friendship and support this year, and i want to say a big thankyou to all of you
    lots love

Stayed up late last night to finish Great Neices Christening Present. I think she/or her Mummy will appreciate the hat with the sudden change of temperature from Abu Dhabi to Devon!

    Hi all :santa2:

Cold but dry here no more snow as yet...just put some grated cheese out for the Robins they love it,

kathy - I wish I could give you this in person (((HUG))) you certainly sound like you need a few. I hope the news is better for your BIL and the itching calms down a bit
shaz - Enjoy your chillin day doing just what you want x
chalky - love the hat and the snowman is so cute, my DGD's would love him :xmassmile did you Russian join all your odd ends for his hat? I did that for some of the IS Hats
jean - Glad you had a nice birthday and what a lovely birthday present
ISOM - sipping sherry in the bath how "deliciously decadent" (I'd have gone for Brandy myself though):rotfl:
kinsey and dpixie awww thanks for your kind words :o They can't get out, their only daughter lives in Liverpool and their DGD has 2 small children and its difficult for her, so we do odd bits for them,I like to think someone would do the same for my Mum if we were'nt around, you know what they say 'what goes round comes round' A little kindness here and there costs nothing and helps a lot

DS1 received his neck/chest warmer and the hat, he told me yesterday my DGD's would like one too, so it's red for DGD1 and pink for DGD2, so that's my job for the next couple of day's :)

Off now to ring Mum she has an awful cold, and blames it on the flu jab said she's never having it again...I have to have it every year and never had a problem with it, but she is adamant thats where it came from, so who am I to disagree ;)

    Hi everyone

Thank you all so much for your words of support; I've said before that they mean a lot, and they really do.

We are a very supportive bunch on here, aren't we? I've been thinking about this year and how close we have all become. There have been many ups and downs in the lives of most of us, and some have had more than their fair share to contend with, haven't they? For me, there have been some memorable highlights and the memories of them keep me going when I feel down. For instance, this year I have spoken to the lovely Jean by telephone on more than one occasion. As a beacon of commonsense and with her understanding of everything French, and her fantastic sense of humour (I don't think she ever feels down), she has really helped to keep me sane, and then there's the wonderful spreadsheet that she designed - and keeps maintained - to keep our totals up to date. I have had the true pleasure of meeting - in real life - the lovely Chalky and her wonderful DH, and spending some happy hours with them. I have also spoken to DPixie by telephone, too, and that was just wonderful. It's great to share that 'newbie in France' expereience with someone else! Then there's May, whom I know we have all missed dreadfully; without her hard work searching for and compiling all the links for us, we'd have fewer things to try. Merry Christmas, May, and the happiest of new years to you and your family.

From my heart, I thank you all for being there, even though it is only virtually. To have somewhere to come when bad things happen makes such a difference; rather than raging against the world, I can post on here and it makes me feel a little better.

I hope that the next few days - amongst all the paraphernalia and preparations for the big day - bring you all contentment, happiness, and good times; the sort of good times that make the best memories. Thank you - all of you - for being there.

And now Im going to close with reiterating kathy and chalky's lovely words - each and every one of you are wonderfull not only in what you do for charity and everyone else but just for being there - I know I dont always come on as often as I would like but I know whenever I turn on you are all here with a sympathetic ear or a gentle word of encourgement and its priceless - it should be bottled - you all mean so much - thank you for being there for another year - lets hope 2011 is a good year - that health improves and luck changes - and to those that have lost someone or have been poorly this year my warmest thoughts - I will have one of my silent words and think of you all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all and your families xxxxxxxx

  • afernoon all, just back from my parents, and what i suprise i got, for the first time in my life she baked me a proper birthday cake, when i was a kid, i always had a fruitcake with marsipan and icing on, decorated with seasonal snowy things robins etc, ( as i grew older i realised it was actually xmas cake)but for my 40th she had baked a proper cake, i love my mum. she also bought me some jasper conran perfume, it smells gorgeous. also got a knitting book, and some wool, as well as usual smellies and chocs. dad took the kids into town for an hour so me and mum could have a chat and some quiet time without the boys. they came back with a selection of wool too, they had picked all my favourite colours pinks, and blues. also my best friend who i went to school with has paid me a visit, and brought a card and more choccies.
my friend who is currently in cyprus is ringing me tonight, i so look forward to our chats, he really makes me feel special.
boys are behaving, which is brill, usually on my birthday they are really naughty for some reason, but they really seem to have changed and behaving better, hope it lasts.
have finished knitting all the xmas pressies , just one that needs sewing up, but that is for a friend who i wont see now, til jan 7th, so tonight i might start some small baby stuff for charity, something nice and easy and relaxing
    hugs all
    love shaz xxx
