Yipee, well the cows have all gone home today, so that gives me a bit more time to do things I want to do - catch up on the forums, start some christmas cards, continue making bits and bobs, might even manage a relax in a chair with some knitting - but won't bet on it. DH is off to the UK first week in December so I have to get everything sorted prior to then - pressies, cards, etc, he can then deliver the lot and save me the bother and expence of the post office and we are assured they are delivered on time.
Doing quite a bit of sewing (SS things), as Kathy says the shopping here leaves a lot to be desired - oh unless you want to spend mega bucks!! Did the Prima on line after ready Mrs Moneypenny's posting and there seems to be quite a few things I could have a go at.
Off to catch up with all the postings properly, then its some card making and book marks this afternoon. Love and cuddles to everybody, not easy at this time of the year for lots of you so be gentle with yourselves.

Have added a subscription to the "Prima" to my Christmas Wish List - well I can dream can't I?
WHILE SEARCHING for inspiration came across this-use up some bits of wool

What a lot of posts to read back through --- lots of very gentle thoughts to all those with their hands totally overflowing at the moment. I think lots of our "friends " are having a hard time for one reason or another. So for fear of leaving anyone out I am sending a big hug to everyone!
Busy here trying to tie up all the loose ends before our return to Spain-- Oh ! and entertaining Buster of course!
So must get on but thinking of you all x
Try and do a good deed every day.
  • ISOM - I am Scottish but I find living in Brittany easy going and very peaceful, I am right out in the sticks, extremely rural and definitely a farming community so no pressures for us, no more commuting to work and getting home exhausted and having to juggle home life with the job. There are downsides - my nearest half decent shops are an hour away, unless its the baker in the village. I can live without the shopping trips tho'. I think it is also one of the wettest part of France, the upside of which being lush, green, juicey grass for the cows to make lovely milk, butter and cheese. We have been here for about 16 years now and DH commuted to sea for 14 of those, so I was left pretty much to my own devices, he is home now (early retirement) and at times I find that exceedingly hard, having never had that previously. I grew up in the wilds of Scotland so country living is easy for me; I know a lot of ex-pats tend to find it rather a chore during the long dark winter months, DH seems to be always searching for something to be busy about, it's early days for him after a lifetime at sea. I love the dark nights and look forward to time indoors doing cosy stuff, or curled up on the sofa reading a book.
I can just picture you and your mum helped by Isoke, all cooched in and loving every minute of it too! Back tomorrow, I am meant to be printing off bookmarks tonight so I had better get a wiggle on.

  • you make it sound positively idylic Roamin'

morning all cant believe im first in.

spent yesterday trying to tidy our bedroom, its turned into a dumping ground for all sorts and doesnt look remotely restful, got sidetracked by wrapping up my sister familys christmas pressies. but only a couple more to wrap then they are ready for giving.
ive managed to find enough to fill a box for LH so will post that off tomorrow while DH is giving blood.
Im tempted to go looking for some of that crofter self patterning wool - i blame orkneystar who keeps posting beautiful pictures on te knitters thread. I really know i shouldnt as while in our room i sorted a large spacebag and a drawer under the bed full of wool, i know there are 2 binbaags in the attic and there are five carrer bags full stashed in the cupboard under the stairs so im not exactly short of wool.:o
Ive done 20 of the 32 mini stockings i need but only 10 are sewn up so im concentrating on them at the mo, i think charity knitting will take a slight back seat now till after christmas as there are so many other pulls on my time. i have a few WIPs that i want to get finished tis side of the new year but dont really want to start anything new till christmas is sorted. That doesnt mean hthe sewing machine might not put in appearance as that is instant gratification when i feel the need.
    WIPs that need finishing are
    12 ply fishermans hat
    2 ply baby square
    log effect balnket square
2nd one of a pair of wristwarmers.

i hope everyone has a lovely weekend

    Gosh, quiet on here today.
Hope it`s cos everyone is busy and not because we`re all down in the dumps.

I know I get into the CBA`d mood when the weather is pants - sometimes wish I could hibernate till Spring has sprung.

Mmmmm, Chalky will be getting ready for her return to Spain so she`s probably packing her bags full of wool to keep her going. :T

Mioliere is probably being `Dave` or clearing up behind t`other half.:A

Roamin` is likely in the sweatshop.:D

mrs - moneypenny might be on the ironing duties again  By the way have you seen this self patterning yarn ?

Bit cheaper than the Crofter and very pretty too. Someone has done a lovely blanket on LH with it. I`ll see if i can find it. Here it is.

Sock knitter, you`ve been missing for a wee while now - hope you are OK ?
F1 widow, have you moved yet or are you still decorating ?

Lots more of you I`ve missed out but thinking of you all the same.
    (((Hugs))) for you if required.

Been knitting a curly scarf this afternoon but not really enjoying it - circs and me really don`t get on :(

Think I`ll go and look out something else for tonight. Just put the fire on so will be having an evening in front of it and might do a few little purses for the school fayre, mindless knitting tonight methinks.

Have a good evening if you are lurking :)
