Well It has been a busy but lovely day as Mr Chalky loves to celebrate his birthday on Nov 5th plus now DDIL shares the same day so it has been a double celebration -- so nice meal and good fireworks.
Big Clean today so my Craft Corner ( growing bigger by the day) has been packed away and crochet hook and wool all packed for a Spanish few weeks. I think I have 3 items of clothes and the rest crafting materials for the Spanish contingent. It is not as bad as it sounds as we literally have 2 parallel lives with everything we need in 2 places -- except the laptop of course.
Lots of gentle thoughts to all and special thanks to Roamin just those few sentences made me feel so much closer to you. I guess we all feel that we do not want to burden this thread with too many personal things but we seem so close yet actually know very little about each other.
However it works I think it is wonderful but it was lovely to have a little bit of history to your life in France
Lots of love to one and all xTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
Hi everyone. Up early this morning for some reason - trouble is, once I'm awake all I can think about is a cuppa!
Well, yesterday went by in the usual blur. I had to do some online work in the morning that seemed to take ages in between helping DH, and I had to go to the doctor in the afternoon - I've been invited to have a flu jab, so I had to take the form I'd been sent to get it signed by the doctor, then I had to collect the vaccine from the pharmacy, and now I have to telephone the nurse who will come to my house to give me the jab! Back at home in the UK, the doctor would have given me the jab in his surgery! What a wind-up! The vaccine is complete with syringe; I'm tempted to get DH to do it!
I also had to go to the Ford dealer to pick up the bit that DH needed to fix the water leak in his van; we were told it would be ready to collect after lunch but, no, it won't be in until Monday! We have also been trying to find the same sort of anti-freeze we buy in the UK, the sort that you dilute yourself, but France doesn't seem to sell it - the only stuff available is ready to use but is so expensive - DH just can't bring himself to pay through the nose for what is, essentially, just water with a little bit of anti-freeze in it! He'll have to in the end, though, once he's fixed his van!
Chalky - a belated happy birthday to Mr Chalky for yesterday! My dear nephew is a bonfire night baby, too, and had his 12th birthday yesterday, complete with new laptop which he seemed to have sussed out in three seconds, so I've been getting some delightful emails and he's now my 'friend' on Facebook (although I'm sure you have to be 13 or over for FB?!).
Jean - it was lovely seeing your post about living here. You seem so settled while I am really struggling after twenty months here. I was told some time ago that 'everything in France is a b****y performance' and the person who told me that certainly wasn't kidding! It seems so difficult to get a simple thing done here! I love the house and I really love the peace and quiet where we are, but that doesn't quite seem to make up for all the time spent trying to get things done! I love the French people we've met but, boy, do they take their time! And why do I keep forgetting that the shops close at lunchtime?! Worst of all, I am missing the family more and more, and that was the bit that I thought would get better over time.
Maytaurus - if you're reading this, I hope you are feeling a lot better now.
ISOM - hope you and your mum are feeling a lot better now.
Shaz - we've missed your posts. I hope things look up for you soon. Please have some (((hugs))) from me.
Well, today we are in for a treat. I need to go to local English-run pork farm we have just a few miles from here, and one of their sows has just had nine piglets so we will be meeting them all this morning! I can't wait - I love pigs. They have another sow just about to give birth, and a huge pet pig that just wanders around the place and is very friendly, plus goats, chickens, and so on. It's a lovely place to visit; I just have to try and not feel guilty when we eat the delicious sausages and so on that they sell! Still, at least I know the animals have a lovely life before we eat them!
Anyway, I am determined to get some crochet time in over the weekend - I've been really hard-pressed to get that sort of time lately and it's not doing my frame of mind any favours just looking longingly at my little wool corner in the sitting room, and not getting the chance to sit in it!
Anyway, I hope you all have a great weekend.

morning all, thanks for all the hugs, i really appreciate them. i havent felt myself since the school hols, where i stupidly took an overdose and ended up in hospital. the boys are such hard work, and i get no help or support. my mum lives nearby but because her and my dad have poor health they are not able to look after the boys. saying that dad slept on my sofa while i was in hospital, so lads didnt have to go into care, i'm grateful for that.
on top of that i have severly painful swollen gum, which may need surgery. i have a piece of root left over from a previous tooth extraction, and its touching the nerve, mand is below the bone of my jaw, at the mo, i'm on my second course of anti biotics, hopeing that it will cure it and the surgery wont be necessary.
gosh sorry for the long moany post.
isom, hope you and your mum feeling better soon
kathy, (((big hugs))) must be so hard living away from family

chalky, dosent seem 2 mins since you came over to uk, and now its time for you to go back to spain

Oh Shaz you poor girl. It's really time you had some sort of help with the boys, especially as they're nearly grown up. The root sounds really horrid, hope that gets sorted soon. Wish I knew of some way to help you. Cyber hugs anyway. xxx0

Shaz - I'm so sorry that things have been so bad for you. It puts my moans well and truly into perspective when you have so much to contend with. As Kinsey has said, it's about time you had some help with the boys, especially now that they are teenagers. I really hope that the right help was out there, and I also wish that I could do more than just send you some (((hugs))). I'm sure we would all love to be closer to you so that we could help for real; between us all, we could give you a much-needed break.
The root sounds painful so I hope the antibiotics work and that there is no need for surgery. One of the best things you could do to help it along is to rinse with hot salty water several times a day. When I was a dental nurse, my boss recommended that above anything else, even commercial mouthwashes. It cleans, soothes, and disinfects, although it doesn't taste too good. It's the best treatment for wisdom teeth that get infected as they're coming through so works well with other infections. Of course, it won't work with an abscess - that definitely needs antibiotics and treatment.
Will be thinking of you today and hoping that it's a good day for you and your family.
