  • Hi everyone.
Thank you all for the the welcome!
I'm not disappearing and I will definitely try and get some stuff done for these causes.
If I am quiet, it's not because I've left it's because I've only just registered on here and I'm struggling to find my way back to this page!
Good grief, It's really confused me!

I've been and bought another "learn how to crochet" book today. I am so determined to learn how to do it! My nanna tried to show me once but she ended up giving up because I was hopeless! She's in a home now and can't remember where she's put her slippers, never mind how to crochet!
My mum was always a knitter, never a crocheter so she is as good as me!

Right, I'd better get some tea cooked!
I'll let you know how I get on!

f1 it would be lovely painted all white or cream, then you could do a feature wall as and when you decided what you wanted, or just use accessories for colour which makes life easier if you change your mind. Just a thought.

Smiling Ducky pleased you're staying. If you give us a general idea of where you live it's possible there might be someone nearby who could show you how to crochet, which is always easier.

Chalky Buster is just gorgeous, know what you mean about you worn out and he's still full of beans. Oscar is like that and he's twelve and a half.

F1 Widow - oooh! exciting times eh! A new home and a fresh start for your DS - I hope his new school is more enjoyable for him - it is so important isn't it?

Re the new house - gosh, what an opportunity - firstly I would go white/off white or cream throughout for a couple of reasons (rather practical ones for me - :rotfl:) i) if walls and woodwork are all he same colour then mistakes don't show. ii) its the quickest way to clean/ freshen up a place. iii) basic white paint is the cheapest!!!!!

Plus, you can add warm accents to each room using the soft furnishings you already have and using accent colours as a theme.

There was a period in my life when we moved 7 times in 11 years - we worked on the principle of clean it - paint it plain, dress it with bits & wait 18 months - if you're still there the "decorate to taste".

Not sure if this helps but I hope (((HUGS))) for you all!

    luv

Good morning, everyone. I'm up early this morning for some reason. I just woke up and couldn't put the thought of a cup of tea out of my head!

Smiling Ducky - I'm so glad you've joined us. It takes a while to learn how the forums work here but, once you've found your way around, it's really easy. If there's anything you are unsure of - whether it's to do with woolly stuff or using the forum - please ask. Martin Lewis says that there's no such thing as a stupid question, and he's right, there isn't! When I first joined I was always asking questions!

F1 - sadly the 'lovely' Mr Mioliere is not treating me to dinners out every night! For one reason, we look a mess at the end of the day, especially a 'plastering' day, and by the time we've cleaned up and showered, the last thing we feel like is dressing up to go out; for another, it would cost too much! Sadly, the only takeaway here is McDonalds (how very French - NOT!) which neither of us likes, so we're just muddling through but each day gets a bit better.

As for your next home, I am another one who would suggest whites and creams. It's been years since I've painted the walls with colour or even wallpapered and, as Pam says, you can add accents of colour with accessories. If you get any marks on the walls, it's so easy to whip out the paint and brush and touch it up, too, and whites and creams are always easy to buy, too.

Well, after the cold start yesterday morning, it warmed up quite well once the sun was out but not enough to sit out, so I finally gave in and put the garden furniture away. I've been really putting it off because it means that the summer is definitely over but it had to be done. I suppose I'll soon get used to how bare it all looks now, especially as we brought our orange trees indoors, too. I have two little olive trees in pots and they are doing really well so I've been reading up on whether or not they should come in to the conservatory too; apparently they can stay outside with a bit of protection against the frost. I've wrapped their containers in thin foil-backed insulation then placed them in bigger pots and raised them up slightly from the ground. They're just outside the back door where I can keep an eye on them!

Shelley - you are in my thoughts.

Maytaurus - if you're reading this, I hope you are recovering well.

Chalky - I bet Buster is having a wonderful time with you all!

I'm going to try and sit down for an hour this afternoon to catch up with my crochet - we only get about an hour's sit down in the evenings by the time we've cleared up and had dinner, so I'm just not getting anything done.

Well, I'd better go and put the kettle on again.
