Hi everyone. Another morning for me without any power. WE had to shut it off while yet more wiring was done in the kitchen. Instead, I braved what was a freezing cold morning out in the garden, emptying all the summer tubs and containers, sorting out plants for overwintering in the conservatory, and generally tidying up. It all looks a bit bare now, sadly, but I will take a trip out this weekend to see if I can get some winter bedding for some of the pots. The sun came out late morning and it's been lovely for the rest of the day so far!
ISOM - welcome back. Glad you had a good time but sorry you had such a bad trip back.
Elaine - hope you are keeping well, and that the snow stays away!
It was 0 degrees again overnight and a really cold start to the day. My FIL phoned us at lunchtime; he lives in Cyprus, it's 28 degrees, and he was just about to take a dip in his pool! Sounds wonderful, doesn't it?
Jean - well done on sorting out both the sewing machine and the printer!
HOpe you are all having a good day.

Hi everyone - from our house of dust. DH thought he'd have a rest from plastering and decided to sand down some beams in the kitchen before painting the ceiling in between them. Well, you would not believe the dust! He's been told off because he promised it was only a 'bit of light sanding' and, as I predicted, it's gone everywhere. He's been told to whistle for lunch and probably dinner, too, because it will take a long time to clean up. As it is, I'm having to wear a dust mask and I'm not the one doing the sanding! My inhalers will be doing double duty today.
Anyway, rant over but it did me good to tell him off then tell you all about it!
Shez - my thoughts are with you. As others have said, the funeral will be a celebration of your mum's life and a time to reflect on how lucky you were to have such a special mum.
Pippa - I hope you are having a good time with your girls?
ISOM - it is a bit quiet here but it's been a sad and worrying week and I think we are all feeling it.
Well, I'd better see if I can find the kettle - or shall I just shout through to the kitchen and ask DH to make me a drink?

Hi all,
Oh no Kathy, best go make it yourself, at least you`ll make sure there`s no dust in the cup before you put the tea in !!!
I can totally understand your feelings. Many moons ago, a certain person who is no longer with us (Jim) decided it would be best to sand down the living room walls before I papered them, even tho` I said just a wee rub with sandpaper would do. Well......it took days to clean all the mess up and I was finding dust everywhere even although I`d shut all the doors. Needless to say he didn`t do that again after the ear bashing he got
.
Bit fed up today. Knitted a fingerless glove last night and started the second one as well. Did a bit more while having a cuppa this morning and discovered I`m not going to have enough wool:( The first pair I did was with the pattern and yarn from a magazine which was 25g and there was about 2ft of yarn left when I`d finished. So I found some other yarn which was 30g and decided to fancy the next pair up a bit by doing the garter stitch bits at top and bottom in eyelash wool to make them more girly. Now you`d think that I`d have plenty of wool by using the two kinds - well I did anyway - but maybe I was having a `lala moment` as there`s only enough wool to do half way up the second mitt  Will rip them back and rescue by putting in some stripes in a different shade I think, but oh how I hate ripping stuff back...maybe I`ll just bin them.
Shelley - hope the funeral goes `well` if you know what I mean.
Sock knitter - hope everything is quiet at your house for the moment.
ISOM - hope the amoeba is going well.
Bugstunny & Maytaurus - big hugs for you both. Take it easy girls.
Hugs to anyone who needs them - grab a few if you like they`re free. :T I like free, it`s my favourite price.
Off to do a bit of ripping back now.
