KINSEY, rice is perfect - if you have an Asian or Chinese store near you that's the cheapest place to buy big bags of it, brown or white but not Ambrosia (but you knew that). Also read on t'internet that if you have herb flavoured tea bags (mint/) one of them into the outer bag will give you a nice smell as it warms through. Lavander oil burns in the micro, so if you are using any essential oils put them onto a scrap of material and pop that into the outer bagafter heating the innner one - I do 1½ minutes in my 850watt micro - err on the side of caution less heat to start with and see what it needs. Inners must be in naturual cotton but any shape you like, outers can be man made fibres as they will never be in the micro (fleece is lovely). I made tons last year, then was if I could do some for the school fete this year, hence starting early. School dinner chef is supplying the rice - hope it isn't in a hunderweight sack!!The Hooligan Wooligan – age 9¾

Thanks for that Roamin', no I wouldn't have used Ambrosia:) A cwt bag, they don't expect too many then! I've got some muslin and a spare fleece throw in a nice bright pink so will give it a go.0

Hello to Everyone x
Sorry not posted sooner. It’s been a bit hectic x
It was lovely for my mum to see all the messages of support and well wishes from everybody here. I printed all your messages off and took them in for her to read. She was very touched by everybody’s understanding, love and well wishes. She asked me to send her love and thanks to everyone.

May Update -They couldn’t move mum on Monday as planned; there were a few problems with her blood pressure and things. They moved her on Wed morning instead, for the angioplasty.
It went well, unfortunately she had another 2 stents fitted. That makes four now, but were all very glad she didn’t need the bypass surgery. It seems to have gone well; her breathing is much better, especially when she’s talking. There’s strict bed rest for now, because of bleeding from her op. She feels much better, so it’s all looking good. Good news at last x
Were keeping her supply of anti bac cleanser full and taken patterns and her wool ‘addiction’ bag in, so I’m sure she is feeling better. Mum sends lots of love and thanks to you all.
Thanks for making us both smile...

Hi Bugstunny - thank you so much for keeping us up to date with your mum's progress. It's sad that she's not back at home where she belongs but good to know that the angioplasty went well and that she didn't have to have a bypass. The strict bed rest is the best thing for her right now but I was really cheered to read that she has her wool and patterns with her; she must be feeling better!
Please give her lots of love and tell her that I hope every day gets better and better for her.
I'm sure Shez will take great comfort from your lovely words.
Once again, thanks for the update.

Bugstunny thankyou so much for keeping us up to date. Relieved to hear Maytaurus is a little better, get well soon May.
What a lovely poem, and how thoughtful of you, you're certainly your mother's daughter. Big hugs.0 -
Smashing news about Maytaurus, thanks for keeping us all updated. Well, the computer on the sewing machine went daft on me yesterday - so I stripped that all down and came away with tons of fluff!!! NAUGHTY ME - works fine this morning, DH was ready for flinging the printer/scanner out the window this morning...I could here him banging it around, so asked him to go for a run on his bike while I uninstalled and then re installed it, works fine now. Patience is obviously more with me than himself. The sun is shining in my bit of France but its a bit on the chilly side, so I will go stuff myself away into the sweatshop after lunch and get on with a bit more sewing. Lou at Loving Hands is having some surgery today, so I am keeping fingers, toes and legs crossed that it all goes well for her. Hope you all have a great weekend whatever you are up to.

Afternoon me lovelies! Im back!! Had a lovely week with "my girls"; taught best mate to crochet; had lots of cuddles with friend, girls and dog as well as many a cappuchino! The Italians have coffee at all stages of the day and tend to have it standing up which seems a bit pointless to me! Hopefully I have done enough hexes to finish the blanket and am then starting another - this time one for me!!
As you were typing yesterday Kinsey I was sitting in the first beautiful sunshine of the trip, next to a small lake eating a flat open bruchetta type lunch as my last meal before return home. the trip back was horrendous - flight was 1/2 hr late then theyre doing road works at Gatwick so took a while to sort transport; then had to hunt for petrol and had a 40 minute diversion so finally arrived home at 4.30am! Had a few hours sleep; caught up with mum and just unpacked. Will have a snooze later but today is a quiet day at home.
Good to hear that May is on the mend; would people like me to arrange a card for her? If so please pm me your messages! Meanwhile May thinking of you; make sure you do as youre told and rest!! Isoke (very excited!!) sends a big get well purr and says she recommends regular cat naps for optimum healing! We miss you so please get well soon!

Hi everyone,
Well it`s still very cold here but no more snow thank goodness.
Even with the heating on I`m still cold. Have concrete floors downstairs and I swear I can feel the cold rising up through the carpets !! One good thing though - I`m snuggled up with `friends`right now - I`m sitting at the computer with my `friendship blanket` round my shoulders, so thanks girls you`re helping to warm my body as well as my heart. xx:A
Good to see Maytaurus is on the mend, albeit slowly. Had a problem with bleeding when I had it done as well, so can totally sympathise and understand.
Good to see you back ISOM, glad you got a weeeee bit of sunshine after all. Mmmm cappuchinos, lattes lovely stuff - best enjoyed sitting down tho`.
Roamin` - did you make a long skinny one for your DH ? Have to look after the poor love as well as everyone else.
Mrs moneypenny - well done for resisting temptation. :T
I`m sure high pitched signals come from yarn shops and stalls to lure the unwitting shoppers like us in, with the intention of parting us from our cash. Did you have cotton wool in your ears or was it your ipod ?
Been doing some beanie hats lately as a change from the mini sized Sands blankets. Every time DGS comes in he asks `Is that for me Grandma?`When I say no, he sulks. I did him a scarf and hat last year and I don`t think he ever wore it - well I only ever saw him wearing his favourite tv character one anyway - so my efforts will be going elsewhere I`m afraid.
Off to do a taxi run - DD and little lad are away out visiting so have to take them to the bus stop. Still at least she`s not expecting door to door service.;)
Back later.
