Good morning to one and all - x and gentlest thoughts to all those struggling at the moment.

Made second batch of apple chutney yesterday---really easy recipe on my blog if you have any spare apples -- makes about 12 lbs which makes a good amount as I always end up sharing a few jars!

We are going to Dartmoor with our friends today- to Widecombe of Widecombe Fair fame -- there is a lovely old pub there , a Devon Longhouse called the Rugglestone Inn . They do a lovely soup so think that will fit the bill perfectly.

I am still knitting and hooking for Charlotte's stalls so lots on the go!
    Have good days everyone

    Hi everyone.

Chalky - I went to the Rugglestone Inn on my DIL2's hen weekend in Devon. We had lovely food there. Enjoy!

Very cold today. We woke up to a real hard frost; the cows in the neighbouring field have only just come out of their barn now that the sun has come out. It's gradually warming up, though, and we have lovely blue skies.

Yet again, my day will be spent helping DH out with the plastering - I'm getting VERY fed up with it all now and could do with a few days off. Hopefully, next Monday he starts some outside work - really outside, at someone else's house! I shall have some peace and quiet and won't have to look at another bucket of plaster for a while! I might even get some proper woolly stuff done, instead of just the usual half an hour I can cram in in the evenings after clearing up and before dozing off on the sofa!

Shelley - my thoughts are with you.

Bugstunny - (((hugs))) to Maytaurus. I hope she is recovering well.

Jean - hope things are going well in your corner of France? It seems OK here. I just had to go out and buy some more plaster and everything seems as normal in our area. It seems the filling stations are open like they were yesterday, although reports are that the cost of the fuel has gone up by about 5 cents a litre!

Pippa - your preparations for the girls' visit sound wonderful. I bet you'll have a lovely time with them!

Anyway, off to wash buckets. I love that - just like being at the beach!

I've been making some things for christmas stalls as well Chalky, and I did these http://www.jpfun.com/patterns/free/angels/f104004guardianangel.shtml then sewed ribbon on the bottom to turn them into bookmarks. What are you making?

mioliere good luck with washing out plaster buckets, yucky job and it always sets!

Hi Kinsey - yes, it is mucky job and, worst of all, French plaster sets very quickly! They do a one-hour, a two-hour, and a three-hour one, and DH goes for the one-hour so, as soon as he has emptied the mix onto his board, I have to grab the bucket and run. It means getting kitted out first in an old fleece, some old shoes, and Marigolds because the plaster reacts with the skin on my hands! The only good thing about it is that it sets off-white in colour unlike that depressing dark pink UK plaster, so it gives you more of an idea of what it will look like when it's painted.

YOur little angel pattern is lovely and what a good idea to turn it into a bookmark!

  • KINSEY, love them, may have to add them to my (getting longer all the time) list. Have just started to sew up some "heat bags" as wee extra pressies, cotton inners filled with rice or barley or buckwheat, dab of lavender oil (that will make folk sleep) and an outer bag (any posh material at all) with a piece of valcro to close it. Just had to bung one in the micro for a couple of minutes to make the sweatshop smell lurvely! Got some more slipper socks on the pins and haven't yet managed to make it as far as the knitting machines all week - I should be sacked.
MIOLIERE - ask your local farmer if he has any of the green buckets that the cattle cake/salt lick comes in, that's where I got mine from and I just chuck them
CHALKY I am green................pub lunch............off for a swift cuppa along with a quick sannie ggggrrrrr
PIPPA.S - so did you manage to get everything done and you are now languishing in a comfy chair awaiting arrivals enjoy the visit
