Oh, Chalky - what an emotional rollercoast for you, lately, especially seeing DD so upset. It must have broken your heart to see her like that and be so far away. Thank goodness she found her passport in the end - I bet she never does that again! I hope, besides all that worry, that she is having a fantastic time, though.

As for poor service, you were really unlucky with the hotel, weren't you? I would definitely make sure you let them know; what are events managers for, if not to make sure everything runs smoothly and that the hosts and guests just enjoy themselves on the day? I hope you at least get an apology and a promise that they will improve things.

Well, really cold in the mornings here; today was no exception, yet it must be about 28 degrees out there now! I end up in a state of confusion deciding what to wear in the mornings; I can put jeans and a jumper on first thing then, by about mid-morning, I'm hunting out my pedal-pushers and a summer t-shirt! Still, I'm sure it won't be long before it's only jeans and a jumper!

The kitchen still hasn't progressed - mainly because DH decided to do some windows instead. I think it's because it's going to be a big job, bigger than he thought at first, but we have decided to make a start at the weekend. I'm dreading it because I have to empty all the wall and base units just for one complete run to be moved further along the wall by about 8", then all the stuff can go back! We still have an extractor to fit, as well as more base units - which will be great because we'll have more work space as well as storage, so we must just push ourselves to get on with it.

I'm still crocheting squares for name-buntings as and when I can, although finding the time is difficult at the moment. I haven't done any charity stuff since we came back from the UK, apart from finishing of some IS hats. I shall get the name-buntings finished, then do some more things for charity. I think once the kitchen is finished, I'll feel more organised and DH won't need my help - hopefully - to get the last bits of the house done.

May - that was a lovely pattern, thanks! And, as for the bus - I rather think the balls of wool on top will be hiding bunks, perhaps? Not that we'll get much sleep - we'll all be too busy talking!

F1widow - you must have thought you were going mad when the lady said there was no such magazine! Glad you got to the bottom of it!

I hope everyone is having a good day.

Oh Chalky hugs to you. As we've said before how do these people keep a job, though it sounds like they'd taken on too much at one time.
Glad to hear your daughter is ok now, what a worry!

Well, just call me MRS NOAH! Nearly had to build a boat yesterday, all fixed now tho' so that's another drama over and patiently awaiting the next- bring it on I can handle it! Tho' it certainly looks like its Chalky who is currently in the firing line. I would dearly love to know why we PANIC in regular lumps of time and space. My dear wee sister says that I am definitely a dab hand at crisis management and have on a great number of occasions had to prove it, but I am tried to the limits at times- the beginning of this week being one of those. All calm on the Western front now.
Love the knitting bus, perhaps that one could be one of a fleet for the wool stash carrying, as we will surely have an awful lot - we most surely don't want to run short or heaven forbid not have the right stuff at hand?
Janette and the boys while here at the weekend just asked if I could do their "labels" for them.......do believe she meant her christmas card list, so I will have a quick type up of some this afternoon and then TYPE HER THE INSTRUCTIONS so she can do them herself, I am not into that one at all. I know if I do them I will get all sorts of label type things chucked at me and I can be doing without that little number.
Managed a pair of slipper socks so with luck and a following wind I shall be "fair set" to climb back onto the knitting machines by tomorrow. I still have a ton of sewing to do - perhaps I will feel more up to it next week.
Chalky, what a sad outcome to the party correspondence to be entered into me thinks. Good luck with the pricing for selling goods....I only once timed/priced a job I was asked to do and when I told the person how much she had a fit but stumped up reluctantly. No one ever wants to pay what I would call "proper money" for any type of crafted goods. Prime example the animal/zoo activity books, which I have to say I just love to make, the eyelets alone for one book cost over six quid but just try and sell them for real money.....NOPE nobody wants them, apart from other "crafters" who appreciate the time and effort. Won't stop me making things tho' as I thoroughly enjoy the challenge and the fun of trying something new.

Off for a tea then I believe its back to pooter time for me. Back later then folks, hope you all have a great day. FREE CUDDLES FOR ALL - take as many as you like

KATHY - clothes.....fold up "hems" on your jeans to make pedal pushers for the afternoons...I do and slip off the jumper into a shirt or t shirt, but its getting colder by the hour here.

HI Jean - glad you didn't have to resort to building a boat? Isn't a water leak one of the messiest things to deal with? We've had several here for various reasons, the worst being before we put inside stairs in - there was a leak dripping down into the kitchen from the old (now-deceased) water tank, and we had to climb up a rickety outside staircase into a spooky attic, in the dark, in a howling gale, on a cold November night!

Today's jeans are 'skinny' ones and very tight round the ankles, but I will definitely try your 'instant pedal-pushers' trick with normal ones! In the space of a couple of hours I've gone from flip-flops to socks and croc-type shoes - lovely ones that my sister gave me because she didn't like them; I can't believe how warm they keep my feet. I would never have bought a pair but, now that I've tried them, I will always make sure I have some. The only drawback is that the make the feet look huge - not a good look with skirts and dresses!

It's a very good idea, typing out the 'typing labels instructions' for Janette! If you'd said you were going to do them for her, I'd have sent you all mine, too!

Anyway, I'm trying to get some work done in here and DH is banging something with a hammer just the other side of the wall, despite promising me that I would find calm and peace in my office! I'm going to do something even more useful than working - putting the kettle on!

Wow ! It's never been known -- Me first on and so late in the day. Perhaps everyone is hiding under the covers because of the rain!!
Love to one and all x
I am still just quietly getting some little bits and pieces ready for DDIL.
Learnt something else about myself today --- I have just about got over the fact that I have not the patience for the Jan Eaton Book when I decide merrily to launch into this pattern.

Well that lasted 2 rows and about 10 minutes. My first experience with circular needles -- they would drive me round a circular bend!!!!!!
So now to find a neck warmer pattern using 2 needles.
    May -- Where are you?
Will pop back later to see if anyone has come out of hibernation-- perhaps you are all packing for the bus trip!
