Just got back from ISOM's fantastic lunch - lovely food, lovely people and enough leftovers for us all to take supper with us! Saw Weezl again which was very nice - must check her meal website again as it is being updated all the time
Just have to dash off now and make best use of my all day bus ticket by taking my broken juicer back to Lidl - sadly for refund rather than replacement :( - I loved that juicer and being so cheap will not be able to afford another one until they get them in again!
SK - hope your mouth is feeling better (((((hugs))))) to all who need them.
  • evening all! Just done and now home done in! Glad seakay enjoyed it! I thought it went very well...kids running about; the "team" we had assembled worked like clockwork and people mucked in at the end (which I knew they would!) and I was thoroughly spoiled with a lovely bottle of red, nail stuff and a 30 knitting shop voucher which all were unexpected as i was meant to be treating them!! People seemed to enjoy the food and I gave a brief thank you speech at the start (felt quite emotional actually) as just dont know how I would have got through the last year without them all...some werent able to come but it was right as it was iykwim!! Back and feet killing me now. Managed to get new fridge freezer online and its coming thurs - could have it tues but refused to pay the 20 extra lol!! Freezer works ok and we can do till then and it gives us time to defrost and chuch stuff which will take a few days!
Tonight will be nice wine and painting my nails and watching a film with some hooky fun! Must finish the blanket...my aim for this week as well as doing some violin practice!
    hugs all!

  • morning quiet lot! Had a lovely sleep and today is pj day! Havent had one for weeks so both mum and I very excited at the prospect of slobbing! I plan to try and do the majority of fergs blanket with the mantra "I will finish!". Seakay hope you werent too wiped out by yesterday? The flowers are looking lovely in the sitting room. Isoke has her new collar one (silver this time) and it will snap off if she gets caught;she keeps getting her leg stuck in it and it looks very painful so this way she wont hang herself if she gets caught anywhere...no doubt will cost in lost collars but worth the money me think.
Chalky and miol hope your days were a success too?

there is the cheap meal site seakwy. They really have worked incredibly hard on it; havent contributed myself other than encouraging from the sidelines but must make an effort with the recipes as were spending too much on food budget at the mo.
Off to watch helicopter heroes on catchup and start the blanket.
socky and miol hope youre ok physically and less low socky?
Pippa lucky you...I am jealous! mum especially so as loves cruising.

    Hi everyone

Late again on here, I'm afraid!

ISOM - glad your 'do' went well!

Chalky and Jean - hope yours did, too!

We had a great time at the sausage sizzle last night; although it was quite a cool evening, the bar owners lit a lovely fire in the garden and laid lots of tables and chairs out, right down to the edge of the lovely river at the bottom of their garden. There was live music along with some of the guests being persuaded to sing, including a newly-arrived ex-cop from New York and his son who both had beautiful voices. We've been invited to a local production of 'Allo, Allo' next month and have already met some of the cast.

We drank a little too freely of the falling-down stuff which left us a bit weary today, but
we managed to visit a local book fair and I was able to buy another collection of books. Even DH chose a book and that's not like him!

We have finally moved my desk into its proper office and, although it's a little further from the kettle, it's very comfy in there and no-one else needs to go into the room and dump screws and bits of sandpaper on my desk - at last, it's mine, all mine!

We came back from the book fair and had some lunch, then a doze in the conservatory, then we found that there was a good film on, so we moved into the front room to watch it (and I was going to do some hooking) but we both dozed off again, so not an awful lot has been achieved today. But, then, as I reminded DH, it IS Sunday!

It was very cold in the night and we woke up to a bit of a frost - there was even ice in the water I put out for the birds - but, by mid-morning it had warmed up to about 23 degrees. Not as warm as we've been used to, but better than I expected.

Anyway, I hope to log on more often next week. DH is going to getting on with sorting out the kitchen and I will tuck myself away in my office. He'll be out of my way, and I'll be out of his!

Oh, another challenge - we have something scampering around in the bedroom ceiling. The room, including the ceiling, is all newly-constructed and the room is more or less finished, then something has to move in and spoil it. The room is in the attic, so there's no crawl space that we can use to investigate and I was really worried that it was rats, but the locals have said it could be a 'loir' (which I found out is a type of dormouse) that has moved in to hibernate (except he's not sleeping, he's chewing the rafters up there!). We've bought an electronic device which DH needs to install into the space where we think he is, and we've been told about some special bait to buy, so we'll be getting that tomorrow. If I know it's not a rat, I won't be so worried but, of course, he's doing damage and needs to be got rid of. The first night we heard it, I was scared to death and DH was worried about what he was chewing. I even made up the spare bed ready for us to escape to, but we've stuck it out and hope that it won't be long before he's been sent on his way. We've called him 'Larry' but that doesn't mean we'd like to keep him!

Anyway, now that I've probably given you all the heebie-jeebies, I'll love you and leave you. Hope to get some hooking done this evening - I'm pretty sure I've had enough sleep today after two naps!

Hope you are all having a great day.

Hi Shaz - I hope you can get somewhere with the appointment tomorrow. There's no point reducing his meds if it means that you end up with a situation that you can't cope with, is there? I wish you well.

Glad you had a good day in Blackpool and that your mouth is not so sore.

sock-knitter - good luck today with the appointment - it seems so wrong that they want to do this if the adverse affect means everyone suffering - will be thinking of you xxx

kathy - sounds like you are busy - great you now have your study - you deserve a "me" space - Im not sure men "need" one as much as women - although DH has his garage so i suppose thats his me space - show us a pic when you can - maybe you should get a teasmade? or a travel kettle and tea tray for your office xxxx

Had a busy weekend - had MIL & FIL & DH's Nan over yesterday - so I only had to cater for 6 and was cheesed off with washing up, and cooking by the end of the day so lord alone knows how you others felt
