can i grab a hug please, and salso may i take one for my son daniel please?
today has been more like friday the 13th than friday the first.
firstly at 9 am, daniels school rang to say they had rung all the taxi's and the kids were on the way home. the class teacher had collapsed and died instantly while preparing the classroom for the day, so obviously the coroner and whoever would have been called, so obviously they didnt want the kids in today.
secondly at around 12.30 daniel started complaining of a sharp pain in his left side of his tummy, the pain got worse, and he looked really ill and felt sick, so we took him to a and e, after lots tests x-rays etc and a lot of waiting around he was finally allowed home with medication for a bowel obstruction
thirdly, whilst at the hospital i rang my mum to see if she could look after josh after school as i was at hospital with daniel, the answer was no, my dad's sister is fading away, and they were off to say goodbye. so josh had to make his way to us on the bus.
fouthly the chemist where i had left a prescription for daniel earlier in the week, had lost the prescription, so i have to ring the doctor who wont be around now till next tues.
hope everyone else has had a better day, off to do a bit of knitting this evening, if i can stay awake long enough
hugs all

Hello all
Gloomy day today but I am crocheting my crocheted squares together which is very satisfying. After it's all done I'm going to teach myself to crochet a boarder.
First day of the Ryder Cup up the road so downpour for most of the day. Apparently you can't play golf in the rain (although I say a film the other night where they did and they had ordinary clothes, but it was a film).
Going to meet up with a few friends this evening to celebrate a birthday; no big deal but quite nervous as meds mean alcohol tastes unpleasant and feet are especially painful at the moment. Will be really nice to see some old friends though.
HAeve just been looking at those mobius links - wow! Now my brain really hurts! Looks good though.
Hugs to all ((((( ))))) Big hugs to SK - just read your post. Hope that your evening is more relaxing than your day!0 -
evening all from a rainy Cardiff! I work in the city where the ryder cup is and it was eerily quiet today as they had shut the schools (dont get me on this one makes my blood boil...anyone misses a day for a holiday theyre up in arms...hypocrytes me thinks!) but did feel for people who will have spent a bomb going and been very excited for an age to be greeted with cold, misty, yukky (but best of Welsh!) weather!
Socky sorry youre having such a tough time. Big hugs for you...
Rather you than me with the cowl chalky! My brains dyslexic at the best of times!
Am going to try finish the blanket in between jewellry making!
roamning hope things ok your end en france?
Miol hope the house going ok!
Seakay enjoy the night out!
Mum and I are off for a pamper day tomorrow...leisurly morning with a massage, facial and reflexology before coming home to chill!! bliss! Very sad that the closer finished yesterday but the apprentice starts next week so happy with that!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Hi everyone
Yes, I know it's early but I just woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. I lay there for a good half an hour and just couldn't doze off again. I'll spend half an hour here then log off and go back to bed.
Shaz - what a terrible day you've had. I so hope tomorrow is better for you and the family. Very distressing that the teacher died - must have been a real shock to everyone. As for the pharmacy - one wonders just how they could lose a prescription in a place that dispenses them. Is it possible that you could phone the surgery and explain (or get the pharmacy to do it) and see if another doctor can write you out another one?
ISOM - I'm not a golf fan but I did feel sorry for the fans who had spent money on tickets, then even more money, it seems, on waterproof gear. I can hardly believe they closed the schools, though!
Seakay - hope your evening went well and that you weren't in too much pain with your feet.
F1widow - oh, dear. I forget to do the update this week. Thank you for reminding me of it. I will do it tomorrow so at least it's done before the next one is due!
Jean - thanks for those links. I might try knitting one but I find it easier to crochet these days, so I'm hoping I can find a crochet pattern for a neck-warmer.
Well, yesterday was so busy here. I've only just realised that I didn't even post on here. We had friends pop round in the morning - just for a quick coffee but the morning just flew by and, suddenly, we'd all been gassing for about three hours! I had to go out in the afternoon, then come back and do a few chores, and then it was time for dinner. The day just ran out on me. I still haven't finished organising my office so I really want to get that done tomorrow. Things need to be put in the right places - at the moment, my desk is covered with folders and bits of paper, and it's driving me mad!
Well, I do believe I'm tired now, so I'm off to bed to try and get back to sleep!
See you tomorrow.

Thanks, Jean - I'll do that. I think they would be quick and simple for charity, and I'll probably make one for my Mum for Christmas and one for me, too; sometimes long scarves get in the way, don't they?
Well, I went back to bed and finally dozed off but it was a rotten night's sleep so I will be due a nap this afternoon. The situation wasn't helped by the fact that we have something scuttling around the ceiling in the bedroom; talking to the neighbours, they think it's probably a 'loir' (not a rat, but still a rodent!), so we've armed ourselves with an electronic thingy that emits a sound they don't like (humans can't hear it) which DH will fit today, plus some special bait that we will put out, too. I was really worried when we first heard it because I just assumed it was a rat! Anyway, I will keep you up to date with progress on Larry, as we've called him!

morning all, woke up to sunshine this morning, but now it looks like rain.
it wasnt the surgery that issued the missing prescription, it was an adhd clinic doctor, so will have to wait til tues to phone her. unfortunatly daniel still not sleeping, i woke at 4 am, to find he was up with the tv on, not ture whats broadcast at that time, but probly somet unsuitable.
this afternoon both boys at a youth club so i can grab a couple hours quality knitting time, i am making some hats for the charity craft stall in nov, knitted in aran, they only take abgout a day for an adult sized one.
kathy, hope you get the rodent problem sorted,
isom, hope you and your mum have a lovely relaxing pamper day
hugs all

Kathy- just get the best "poison" from magazine Vert (garden centre) or co-op Agri and keep putting it down...regardless of what it is! Mark the calendar to make sure its not forgotten. I know it's hateful but believe me its the only way. We have three plug ins and they don't do a thing. Best I have found is mouse/rat traps (they adore a slice of mars bar-but you then have to deal with the evidence). We use rat/mouse poison where the dogs can't get to it. The worse problem we had was pine martin....just kept thinking it lived here too, it was in behind the plaster board in the loft bedroom, I moved out but we borrowed a trap from the maire in the end for that one. Keep your compost bins well away from the house, lids on all buckets that the foxes can't take off etc. I am sure you know all of this but just thought I would let you know you are not alone Obviously if you have another cat on the scene you will have to be extremely careful with poison, we cut a hole either end of a little oblong cardboard box when we kept a cat, they also sell it in sachets these days which are supposed to be "safer" not sure about that one tho'.
back later - lunch time calling.
Jean
