DH was so excited after I said last night he could come to the supermarket with me - he got me up at 5.30am.............grrrrr doing it during the 12 - 2 lunch time non rush, one cashier on the till, rather than try and fight with other shoppers hitting him with a trolly. I am a pure Saint to even attempt this after the last time. Have a terrific day folks, its cold and frosty hear but the sun is up and with luck it will warm up a bit before bedtime. x

That was very brave, Jean! I find lunchtime is the best time to go shopping - everyone else is stuffing themselves with food and wine! We had the hardest frost I've ever known here - it was -9 at 9am but it's 'warmed' up to -6 now!

shoulder is coming along nicely, thank you - I am being extra careful not to over work it.
After the supermarket sweep yesterday got home and unpacked and put away the groceries, DH happened to mention he thought his feet and legs were swollen - HONESTLY MEN - they were about double the size they should have been; got his shoes and socks off and gave him his biggest pair of clogs, rang the Doc took him down for 4.15 - in and sorted in jig time, has different meds now, continuing with the physio, heart, lungs, etc all checked. Nurse was in this morning for a full blood scan - she really did take a whole arms worth, I am now back to doing b/p daily and keeping a note. I am also watching him like a hawk. He was in bed and alseep by 9.30 last night and slept through till 6am which is a first and really brilliant. Popped a little packet into the post to Mrs Twins, am now onto some Chelsea squares but doing everything in a relaxed way (for me that is).

    FIRST UPDATE THIS YEAR

Hope you all have a terrific day, I intend to........xxxx

hi everyone, i have not run away, but have packed my bags as i am going away for 3 weeks - some to london (where OH has some work for a week) and then 2 weeks in the sun. strangely i am loving the colder weather here in the south of france, and nothing is more beautiful (to me that is) than the sight of the snow covered mountains with the morning sun on them. i also love my hour after lunch sitting in front of the fire doing some hooky work. i finished a present (blanket) for a newborn in the village - those things are very very very rare, only the second one in 5 years, and not likely to be many more as there are not very many young people here. am also working on a blanket for my nephew and when thats finished one for my niece. then on to a jumper for the OH (i am such a rubbish knitter that i might get my neighbour to do it on the machine) and then on to other things.

i know i don't have any chelsea blue (OH's team) yarn, but i do have some white, so will be happy to crochet a square - let me know where to send it to.

other than that, there is not much news here.

kathy, sorry to hear that sam had to go back into hospital, but i am sure that with all the love being sent to him, he will be out in no time.

hope that everyone else is feeling top of the pops soon, if not dr dpixie recommends several hours of crafting therapy! it is better than any medicine/antibiotic, and has no side effects!!!

have a lovely day one and all ... thinking of you all

This cold weather is making everyone post more often.

Not done any more charity knitting. Started an Aran weight cardigan. Was coming out far too big back went right round me. I am now doing smallest size 32. By no stretch of the imagination an I a 32 bust.

Will get the back redone then do the squares for a change so nothing for this week.

I hope Sam came out of Hospital for his sisters birthday.

    Welcome melodramaticme.

    Take care everyone.

Hi, everyone, and thanks again for your kind thoughts about my dear grandson.

Chalky - I hope DH is behaving himself and following doctor's (and nurse's!) orders!

Jean - the same to your DH. I'm glad he's had a good seeing-to from the nurse! Hope your shoulder is feeling better now.

DPixie -good to hear from you and to know that someone is actually enjoying the cold French winter! Have a good time away!

Pippa - I will probably be too late to wish you bon voyage - and I would have asked you to wave to Southampton for me if I could!

Nursemaggie - it's been years since I did any Aran knitting; I remember making Aran jumpers for my sons when they were little, but I've never tackled anything adult-sized!

I will definitely get the update done tomorrow, along with last week's. It's been a strange couple of weeks in my life, and things are a bit out fo sync.

The good news is that Sam was able to come home from hospital in the early hours of yesterday morning, having been pumped full of intravenous antibiotics, then waiting for cultures to show if they had worked, which they did, luckily. He had a good day yesterday, and was able to enjoy some of his activities - sadly, not any sport which he is missing, but indoor things. He has another chemo session on Thursday, and one the following week on the Friday, then he will have tests so that the doctors can see how he is doing, and plan the next stage. He's allowed home in between sessions simply because they live within a short driving distance from the hospital; some patients in the same ward live too far away for comfort if they need emergency treatment, so they have to stay in. My son was telling me about some of the other cases, and I can't get them out of my mind; some of them are absolutely heartbreaking and even more distressing than Sam's. We are all still worried sick about him, but his chances are far more positive than some. Life can be so cruel, can't it?

On a lighter note, Sam decided to have his head shaved because he's been told his hair WILL fall out, not that it 'might'. He has a Mohican at the moment! He's normally quite shy so would never normally do something like that, but it makes me smile thinking of the fun he and his dad have been having with the clippers.

I have done a blue and white square for Sam's blanket, and a Sun Granny square for the SIBOL challenge - I found some really bright citrusy orange for the 'sun' bit and it cheered me up to work with it.

Well, as you can see, I'm up early this morning, so I'm off to make another cuppa and have a surf around.

Thanks again for all your kind wishes.

Had a slight accident with a pan of toffee and a couple of my fingers on my right hand are really nipping - I can still move them all and they don't look too bad - obviously I wasn't paying enough attention. hey ho. DH update - leggies and feet and ankles are slowly going down, thank goodness. I have a fun packed week programmed with the knitting machine and the crochet hook. Happy news there Kathy, your DGS managed to get home for the birthday girl, that's another week knocked off that original 5 too, so I'm continuing to send positive thoughts and love your way. Back sometime this afternoon when I get a bit more caught up. Lots of love and cuddles to you all.
