Firstly I want to thank you all for your concern for OH, he is feeling much better now, he had his well man clinic on Thursday and all was well so that has cheered us both up a lot. But what a week it was, I had my yearly COPD check-up on Wednesday and it seems the yoga breathing is still helping, so I will carry on with that, I have my well woman clinic next Tuesday and for good measure the dentist txt asking me to make an appointment...but I think I will postpone that for a week or two, until we get back from holiday.

kathy - what wonderful news Sam home for the weekend, it will be good for him and make such a difference to all the family
chalky - ouch!!! poor OH hope he is feeling a bit better today...please count me in with the blanket :)
ginny - my mamogram was clear too...such a relief isn't it?...sending a (hug) I think you might need one x
jean - hows things in your neck of the woods? hope OH is improving
dipixie - how lovely to see you and read all your news, 120 balls of wool how exciting all that woolly loveliness where will you start I wonder :)
nursemaggie - well done with all the baby jackets
psso - hope the 'hooley' has not returned

Have just finished another scrappy square blanket, must say I enjoy making them, realised there were rather a lot of small balls of all colours in the bottom of the craft bag so just joined them up without even looking at the colours, I have posted it on flickr here is the link if you would like to have a look http://www.flickr.com/photos/pippa-anne

    Update following kathy

Love to you all Annie xx

Hi, everyone, and thanks so much for your kind words about Sam. Just to bring you all up to date, I have actually spoken to him on Skype this evening. He looks a bit washed out, but he is ravenously hungry and really enjoying his food. He has a rucksack full of drugs and has to have his temperature taken twice a day; if it goes above a certain number, it will mean he has an infection and will have to go straight back in to hospital. So far, he has managed to sleep and lead as near normal a life as possible. He was even allowed to go and watch his friends play rugby this morning, which he loved, even though he would much rather be playing than watching. My son says we are not to think of them all sitting around looking worried and miserable, that they are making the most of being together and having a laugh and a joke and enjoying watching TV and so on. I feel so much more reassured having seen them all, and Sam in particular. He has to go in for another chemo session on Thursday then he can come back home. They think he will be at home for most of the time, just going in for treatment and check ups. I do hope it works out that way because it will be good for him, and the whole family. It is still very early days, and does have a huge mountain to climb, but we are taking each day as it comes. It was just so lovely to see him and talk to him. I wasn't expecting a Skype call, so you can imagine what a great surprise it was. Thank you all once again for your support.

Nursemaggie - how do I find the toughie thread? I would love to have a look at it. Well done on the weight loss!

Chalky - hope DH is recovering as well as can be expected.

Jean - hope your DH is also doing well.

Well done on the good mammogram results; it's always reassuring, isn't it?

DPixie - lovely to read your news, and glad you are enjoying your French life!

Pippa - what gorgeous things you have made, and I love all the colour!

Will do the update tomorrow. I have heard from Zippychick, the board guide, and she said we can refresh the thread whenever is convenient, that there is no rush, so I will get going on that soon.

Have a good evening, and thank you all again; you have no idea how knowing that people are thinking about Sam is helping.

Sorry Kathy I should have put doorstep that is the toughies thread's present name. It is on the first page most of the time there are rather a lot of us.

The weight loss was just from not eating I just thought it was a bonus though I have been losing weight since just before Christmas just the result of my appetite falling. I could do to lose another stone.

Pippa I do love looking at all your Flickr photos.

I have been through all my buttons and found enough little ones for premi clothes if I knit nothing else for the next ten years. I also found a set for a just completed cardigan and one for the yarn I just bought at Ald! I have been know to buy a cardigan at a jumble sale just for the buttons. It usually works out cheaper than buying a set.

If you ever see a bag of buttons in a CS buy them it saves a lot of money. I think my two bags must have saved me over £50 in all those years.

Of course Sam is starving have you ever heard of a boy his age who is not? He probably looks washed out from lack of food and lack of sleep. He is much safer at home among his own family germs.

Morning all hope everyone is as well as can bey
Kathy such brilliant news about Sam being allowed home for the weekend
Chalky, hugs to you and I hope things go better than predicted with your DH knee - count me in also for joint blanket effort.
Lovely to see some returners to the thread
DD2 is convinced she looks like a galleon in full sail but she really has a lovely neat little bump, I've started the 2nd ball of wool I've got so done 14 squares so far, need to do 22 more, Im going to run out of the marked baby wool I'm using - it came from aldi forever ago so I think I'm going to have to make a patchwork of marled and White squares and hope that works. I've had to put good causes knitting to one side while I get this finished as I want it done for when babe gets here, but I will be doing some more as soon as this is done, saw a couple of appeals on Twitter for hen body warmers and catnip mice so have sorted out my patterns for those.

Hugs and good wishes to all I hope I haven't missed anyone, but you know you are all in my thoughts often.

Mrs Moneypenny - it's so exciting to have a new baby on the way. When is it due?

Nursemaggie - thanks, I'll look at that thread. It sounds interesting.

As for buttons, I have loads and the charity shops are a great place to find them, but I still can't resist buying them. My eldest GDD loves going through my buttons when the family visit, and last time she went back with loads. She does use them - she's twelve years old this week, and already has a grown up sewing machine that she saved up for.

Well, it's Sam's fifteenth birthday tomorrow, bless him, so I'm hoping he is well enough for another Skype call. I think his dad was going to shave his head last night (he's been told he will definitely lose his hair with the chemo, sadly)' so he will probably look quite different.

I hope all the poorly ones have had a good day, and that you all have a good evening.

    Morning all,
Babe is due end of March, we can't wait. I managed 2 more squares yesterday, I'm a button lover as well, there have always been button tins in our family. A neighbour gave me a bucket full of buttons his wife had told him to take to the tip! I was in heaven-he said he thought id find a use for them.
Obviously we are all thinking of Young Sam constantly but tomorrow I'm sure we will all be especially hoping is birthday is as enjoyable as it can be. Isn't it funny how the threads are woven this group that if someone's loved one or themselves are in pain we all feel it. Equally we can all sha in each other joys and happiness in the good times.
    Hugs to all

I am inviting Ladies on MSE to help by making a 6" Crocheted Square.
All details are on the SIBOL BLOG.
    Here's the LINK.

We are making a special Sunshine Blanket so we need Squares designed by 'theemuts' on RAVELRY. It's called the 'Sunshine Granny Square'. It's a pretty Square and we need 24 in total with a special centre Square.

If we manage to get more Squares arrive. These will be sent to a Home in Belgium for people suffering with Cancer.

All details are on the Blog.
I am always so very grateful to everyone that has supported our project over the years. I can't believe we have now reached 949 Sunshine Blankets. Just think how many lives we have made a difference to.

    I hope everyone are well.
Something to do on these cold nights!

    Thank you

Thank you all for your kind words. Mrs Moneypenny, I think you are so right about feeling the pain of others. Last year, we were all thinking about Chalky's grandson when he had that horrible accident, and poor Jean's DH when he fell out of that tree, and there have been so many others, too, Pippa and Ginnyknit's OHs, and so on. It all goes to show that you can't take anything for granted, and things can change in an instant.

Sam has his best friend round for a birthday tea, so I was really pleased that he was 'up' for that because it will help take his mind off things.

I should have done the update today, but I got carried away with cooking and baking, which takes my mind off things. I had both slow cookers going with home made soups, made some of Chalky's IKEA buscuits, and some cakes. Tomorrow, I will mostly be cleaning the oven and hob!

I shall go and look at Mrs Twin's blanket square project now.

Hope you are all having a good evening.
