Morning all, sorry been mia lately. Life getting in the way.
Very excited about a fundraising event my family hosted on Friday night.
As some of you know, our family has been affected over many years by heart disease, several members lost to itand my son and myself going through major heart surgery in more recent times.
Well, my son thought he would like to give something back for the support and treatment we received and raise some funds for the cardiology department of the hospital and the British Heart Foundation. He's hoping to train with a friend for an event in the summer, but in the meantime we decided to do something else.
First event we had was an evening with a clairvoyant on Friday. About 100 people there at the local bowling club and everyone seemed to have a great night. She is a very popular lady in this area and many people like to go to her 'Audience with......' nights. Lots of 'messages' from beyond, including one for me and my family !! Apparently from my dad, mum and dear Jim.....
My three girls were all in tears by the time she finished with me.
I know some folk will say it's rot - my son and indeed Jim said that sort of thing was bunkum - but there was stuff she mentioned that very few people would have known. Makes you wonder....
Anyway, I digress. The result of the evening, which included a fantastic raffle, was DRUM ROLL...........£1,120. !!!!
We were absolutely gobsmacked, the raffle itself brought in £376. Normally at these things it's lucky to reach about £150, so we were all delighted.
Other news, I start a new job this week. Closer to home so much less travelling. Training will be done at a store five miles away but the brand spanking new store which is due to open soon is just across the road from little J's nursery. Much nearer home than the last job so no travelling time / petrol expenses.
The only way it could be better is if it was a wool shop.!! Now THAT would be my idea of heaven.
Woolly stuff took a bit of a back seat but still doing granny squares, will get in the post soon.
Gosh I've rambled on today. Hope all are well and not too bothered by the weather. Got a wee bit of snow and ice, gritters have been conspicuous by their absence, so roads are a bit treacherous.
Off to pick up wee man and go to Costco. Back later.xFully paid up member of S.A.B.L.E.

Ginnyknit, I have a patons pattern for a leaf blanket. It's made up of 12 large squares - each large one is 4 squares joined together with a leaf border all around. Prettier than the one in Jean's link I think. Sorry Jean
Pm your address and I can send it if you want. Can't find a photo cos it's an old pattern of my mum's. I'm sure I have a newer version as I KNOW I started a pale green one ages ago and I think it's been consigned to the cupboard of doom. Must have a hunt for itFully paid up member of S.A.B.L.E.

Ginnyknit it's similar to this, but 3 large squares across and 4 long. My pattern is done in dk not Aran.

The one I'm doing is similar to that but the leaf is only on half the square, the 2nd half is in stocking stitch so you get leaf squares alternated with stocking stitch squares puters broken at the mo so I can't do a photo I don't think as I haven't worked out how to use the iPad as a marry and then post a photo from it. I haven't knitte any of the border up yet.SPC~12 ot 124

DD1 suggests either park the car somewhere else or try mothballs she once had to deal was a car a squirrel had stashed it's nuts in and after clearing them all out they smashed a couple of mothballs up and sprinkled that round to deter critters nothing came back but she advises against touching the mothballs or using something like a rolling pin to smash them as she said you'll never get the smell off.SPC~12 ot 124
