May I please join in? I'm in the middle of knitting a baby cardy for a friend at the mo, but afterwards, I'd like to have a go at preemie knits (probably to go directly to the local Unit) and I wouldn't mind doing some squares. Are these still needed? Are there any restrictions/requirements I should know first?Elizabeth

Hi Donny-gal my first thought was Oxfam. I know they used to have their own pattern but I am sure they would be useful. Sending them to Syria also sounds like a very good idea.
Roamin all of the booties are lovely don't think the recipients will be bothered what colour they are. I particularly like the blue random ones. I hope your DHs review exceeds expectations.
Rushing to get Christmas presents for Saudi Arabia finished, they have to be with a wedding guest by 20th of this month. They are coming over for my DDs DHs sister's wedding. They only have 3 days leave so not time to see them. At least I can get presents to them this year.

Between them I am getting about 50 patterns a day of gloves, hats, scarves and cowls. Purple Kitty Yarns send you a whole bunch of lovely vintage patterns every month. Sign up for news letters. Got some lovely ones for my DGS. Children's patterns are a little small in American patterns. I find I have to use the next size.0 -
welcome Elizabeth
you can knit what ever you like and someone will find a use for it.
we tend to try and knit for good causes close to home now so that we can eliminate the need for lining the post office coiffures. prem hats sound perfect if you can take them to your local hospital. thats what im working on at the mo. forgot to take a bag with me today when i went.

Bet that was a wonderful sight MrsMP, scans are amazing, did it make you knit faster :rotfl:
Dgs is finally well again :T I have been so worried as he was really fed up with it. Sad news yesterday my friend Rosieben passed away, some of you may have known her from the threads where I met her but we became close friends elsewhere. I have had a reflective day with tears and smiles.
Lovely to hve new people calling in - every tiny things we make for others is a blessing so keep on knitting guys.
I am putting together a community blanket on another site I belong to as a gift for the sites creator who is generous of spirit like all here. I didnt think it would take off as it did but I now have lots of squares to join up all in the colours of the Scottish countryside. Wish me luck its going to be mahoosivebut my legs will be warm

Hi everyone. I hope you are all doing as well as can be. It seems my internet problem has been fixed- well, until the next time, which I am sure won't be too far away.
Hi to you, Donnygal. Thank you for thinking of this group for the vests. I hope they soon find deserving homes.
Ginnyknit - I am so sad to hear that Rosieben has passed away. I know she contributed a lot to the OS Daily thread. That is such sad news.
Welcome to you, Elizabeth Braun.
I have done the latest update, which you can find here:

I will do a longer post tomorrow, and I am thinking of updating a description of what we do. I've just looked at the last one (on page 95 of this thread) and things have definitely changed - not just where we send donations, but the fact that we try not to incur postage. If anyone can think of what they would like to see in our description, or any changes they would like to see, please let me know. I expect many of us are busy thinking about Christmas these days; I know I am. I am also kept quite busy as an Admin on a particular Facebook group, and feel as if I have neglected this thread a bit. It is still very close to my heart, as are the people in it, so I think now that the winter evenings are drawing in, I can concentrate on it.
Will call in tomorrow.
Love to you all.

I walked up to the local Church which is being used as a centre for
sorting shoe boxes and delivered my hats, scarves etc today. They seemed please to get them. The Christmas knitting is finished so I think I'll try and finish my Oxfam blanket before I start anything else.0
