Oooh Chalky thats a b*gger, I broke my ankle in the gym at school many many years ago and they sent me on to my next lesson  I had to demand an ambulance, luckily I was rescued by the rufty tufty head gym teacher and she swiftly dealt with it. Funny the things that come bck to you, havent thought of that in years.
Psso now what could you have bought yourself :rotfl: yarn is the healer of all woes.
Got a busy day of making stuff for Ds's blessing and sewing his work pants - he always comes to Mum bless him.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Hi everyone
Chalky - I am so sorry to hear about your DD1, especially as you've only just got over worrying about William. I hope she is soon mended and that it doesn't take six months. Will take a look at your FB page.
Jean - that will teach you to look forward to spending the weekend in your jimmyjams! Love the hat ornaments, and they look so easy. I will email the link to my DGD1; she'll love it.
Elaine - glad you are feeling a bit better. Can't wait to see what you have bought!
F1 - the e-ciggies are definitely worth a go. You will save loads of money once you are set up, will feel a lot better, and won't have to stand outside in the bad weather! There are forums online full of information and advice - one I looked at when I was researching for DH is called Planet of the Vapes.
We had a hornets' nest in our chimney (the outside, luckily) which was disposed of this morning, thanks to one of our neighbours whose brother is the local pest man. We thought they were wasps at first, but they were definitely pretty big hornets. DH is terrified of them; they kept coming into the house. Luckily, they don't frighten me so I was able to deal with them but, once we realised that it was a nest, we had to get it sorted out. It was great that the man came out so soon. He had to climb on the roof in all his gear, which was quite tricky, and frightened the cat who was quite happily dozing up there in the sun! Anyway, another problem sorted out, thank goodness.
I have just finished a pair of wristwarmers for my mum for her birthday next month; I want to have a go at some socks for her, so will need to order some sock yarn from somewhere. I think I might also make some wristwarmers for my granddaughters for Christmas presents.
The teddy I made for a local charity arrived (expensively thanks to La Poste) but it's going to a good cause, and the lady was really pleased with it.
Anyway, I had better get on and do something constructive.

Amazing! Did you use a slightly different pattern for the book art? It looks a bit more complicated with the heart standing proud of a border - how did you do that?
Love all these new ideas for crafty makes and charity ideas - my local charity shop always has some books which will not sell and they soon run out of room - this idea for an alternative way of raising money from them is brilliant!0 -
They are both fantastic, Seakay!
Dibuzz - you know, you are right about knitting being constructive!

Morning all
persisting down here so different from just a few short weeks ago, not cold...cold but a lot cooler and duller
We are meeting an OT lady at moms flat later to see if she will be able to manage with a gutter frame(sounds awful but its just a zimmer with arm and hand things on but much higher) her flat is so small I am not sure she will manage with it, and also at the moment she has 2 people helping her with it when she needs the bathroom as she is so frail, the physio said she has reached a plateau now and its doubtful she will ever get any better mobility wise, she is still very confused and tells us the same thing many times over, she also falls off to sleep for most of the time we are there. It is so sad seeing her as she is now to what she was not too long ago
chalky - ouch!!! that's painful poor DD1 I really can sympathise, I did the same thing some years ago putting new curtains up I over-reached and the steps and I parted company and landed in a painful heap on the floor...a nurse also told me a break would have been easier to deal with, I was off work for a couple of months, sending her a comforting ((hug)) x
psso and dibuzz it is so sad when a trusted and much loved neighbour dies and I am sure they will be much missed xx
jean - thanks for the link for the hats and corner book markers I will send them to my DGD's they love craft work, it is loom knitted cowls at the mo as winter is on the horizon...
kathy - hornets...ooo nasty glad you have dealt with them
psso - online therapy...hmmmm wonder what that is...can't be yarn 'cause that is always needed :rotfl:

Thanks roamin (and F1)! I am in the midst of selling my house and moving to rented on the other side of the country, hence my occasional appearances at the moment, but I've bookmarked these so that when (!) I finally get around to unpacking I will have some lovely craft projects to break up the task with!0
