I'm going to have to have a moan .... My joints have been given me jip as has my stomach for a few weeks now last time I spoke to dr he said ring if no better ...... My dear Chalky, as an ex charity shop manager ( various charities - Sue Ryder Care, Marie Curie to name but two) I know that not a lot of the money made actually goes to the needy. They are the public face of a charity who make more from bequests and direct cash. However the more money the shops make, the more goes to the needy so the more you help the better it is. Sometimes a smaller charity - not the scruffy ones but the well run ones run by volunteers get more of the cash. Whichever charity you use will benefit if they put a proper price on your makes and not just chuck them in a tub. If you could sell them yourself you could then send the money to water aid or one of the charities like that. They are beautiful things you have made and look even better with the tags on, I do hope you find the best way to use them and its a wonderful idea xxClearing the junk to travel light

whew........the very last of the fuzzy blue 4 ply yarn. I have been missing quite a bit this week as DH is off in the pampervan by himself tomorrow - I got to clean it, polish and make the bed, stock the cupboards - he was busy doing log cutting so I won't be getting cold while he is off watching BIKES (again). I shall be in my jimmy jams for the whole weekend and slob around pleasing myself what I do....off to read the postings over the last few days, I hope you are all well - cuddles free again today so grab one while you can

Ginnyknit - hugs to you and your family. You are going through such a lot.
Mrs Moneypenny - I hope the first day back goes smoothly for you all.
F1 - have you tried an electronic cigarette? My DH gave up over a year ago by using one, and he hasn't looked back, and doesn't even feel like smoking. We have several friends that have tried them, too, and they have all, every single one of them, stopped smoking, and they stopped from the very first time they tried the electronic one. There's lots of information about them online and, when my DH was thinking about trying one, I did loads of research. I know not much is known about them long term, but he's really feeling the benefit from not smoking, and the electronic cigarettes cannot possibly be as bad for you as the real thing. Another good thing is that they are so much cheaper than real cigarettes. I hope you consider one.
Chalky - I hope you enjoyed the break. Your accommodation looked amazing from the photos you posted.
Jean - that angel set is so sweet and delicate. Enjoy your slobbing-about weekend! DH disposed of the spider, thankfully, so it's out there somewhere scampering around putting on weight for his next visit, no doubt! It very kindly stayed in the same place all day, so was easy for DH to find but he did go a bit pale at the size of it!
Well, I went to see if our lawnmower has finally been fixed. It stopped working over a month ago but, as it is still under guarantee, we took it back for repair. We've had a lot of French hassle with the shop and the thing is still not ready - 'perhaps next week' is all the chap would say, with the usual shrug. Anyway, we reminded him that our grass hasn't stopped growing just because we currently have no lawnmower, and he has loaned us one, free of charge, so at least we can mow the lawn now. But what a palaver! I hate buying anything new here because I always have to think about the consequences of returning it if it breaks down! They seem to hate replacing anything, and don't like repairing things, either, if they can get away with it. Rant over!
Oh, another rant. I made a teddy for the tombola for a local-ish charity and posted it off this morning at a cost of almost €6, and the parcel was only light and was only going to the next department. I wish I'd sent the money instead!
Anyway, at least the sun is shining and my washing is drying!

Hi all, sorry not been about much lately and today am in serious CBA mode. Our lovely, next door but one neighbour died very suddenly a week past Sunday and his funeral was this morning.:( He was such a lovely man who just had his 80th birthday a couple of weeks ago, always on the go and helped me a lot after Jim died. We'll miss him in the street.
Anyway, woolly wise I cast on a Sands blanket last night but not done very much so farmight have to set it aside till I feel a bit brighter. Crafty stuff hasn't much appeal right now.
Been trawling the websites for yarn to knit a snake with for middle grandson. Thought it would be good for using up odds and ends but he requested it to be snake coloured. Brain is hurting with the effort.
Hope things are better for the rest of you. Will try to be a bit brighter soon.Fully paid up member of S.A.B.L.E.

Elaine, I am so sorry to hear such sad news. He sounds as if he was a real gentleman. Hope you manage the snake.
Mrs Moneypenny - you are so right. France almost grinds to a halt in August because most people go on holiday, which means that shops and other businesses operate skeleton staff. It can be a nightmare at times, and makes September a welcome relief! I hope you get your threads soon! The borrowed lawnmower is doing a very good job, so we will be hanging on to it while we wait for ours to be fixed but, as it's August.........!

Sorry about your neighbour, I used to help look after 2 of my neighbours until they went into a home and one died 2 weeks ago. They helped me with a lot of things over the years and I found his funeral very difficult. His wife couldn't attend as her Alzheimers has worsened and she would have just got herself into a state. Very sad when they had been married for almost 60 years.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
