Hi, have you tried circular needles? there is less weight on the needles and so less strain on your hands.
    best wishes :)

Not yet, they scare me :o

Be brave, get a cheap one and try. You don't have to knit circular just use them to go back and forth like ordinary needles.

I suppose it would be a great excuse for a trip to Black Sheep Wools ;)

I don't do "just popping out", I don't find leaving the house easy so need a few days to work up to it.
I could make it one of my challenges for next week though.

Where do you come when you need a virtual hug...... Here. Sitting here with a big box of tissues. Thought I would be. This saying goodbye for 6 months gets no easier especially when the sweetest William says,... " but, grandma I am going to miss you!"
Be back tomorrow after I have banged the Hoover around for a few hours!!!!!
Try and do a good deed every day.

Big huge squishy hugs for you Chalky.

I can totally understand how you are feeling - and the Sporty one as well no doubt.
At least my little ray of sunshine is only away for a few days at a time, and the big hug I get when he comes in is so special.

I've no doubt you will find something to occupy your hands while your memory plays re-runs of all the magical days you all had together.xxx

Dibuzz, I've heard that bamboo needles are good if your hands bother you. Never tried them myself though, I just plod on with my good old metal needles, not even too keen on the plastic ones and circulars.........no way. Old fashioned,me.

Glad to hear the mums/mil's are on the mend.

Finishing off a blanket for DD's friend. Baby wasn't due till 17th but he decided to come yesterday, bad planning cos his grandma is away on her holidays and was supposed to be a birthing partner.
Must crack on as I'd like to do another wee cardigan for him as well.

    Love to all.

Oh, Chalky, I bet you can't believe it's over. I know exactly how you feel - the only thing to do is to bang the hoover around, sob your heart out, eat chocolate, and plan, not just for the next visit, but for the next Skype call, which won't seem so far away. I feel for you, I really do. You have some wonderful memories and you have been able to see for yourself how well he has recovered from his bad accident. And,just as important, you know he is in good loving hands. Sending huge hugs to you and DH.
