Thanks for doing that, they have updated the website now!
It's a charity I am quite happy to support so will make a few decs. :)

PS just noticed they want "makes" in by the 29th of Aug. not a lot of notice for a time of year when people are busy with children/holidays etc. :(

    Hi everyone

Haven't been around much for the last week or so; we had unexpected visitors to stay for a few days which caught us off guard, especially as we were still getting over the last lot of visitors. We are also going through a phase of things in the house breaking down, our hot water tank was one of them, so that had to be replaced immediately. Before we realised that it had broken down, it was shorting the power supply, so we had to check everything until we found what was causing it. It was just out of guarantee, annoyingly, but, now that the new one is in place, we realise that the last one we bought must have been faulty because the water came out scalding. It has to be set to a certain temperature here to control the threat of Legionnaire's disease and, because things are done differently here, we thought the temperature was normal. I expect our electricity bills to go down significantly from now on! Another breakdown was our lawnmower; we have lots of grass to mow here so have had to borrow one while ours is in for repair. It was still within the guarantee, luckily, but now that August is almost here, and France practically shuts down for the month, we've been told it will be about three weeks before it's fixed. We've had a few other minor disasters, too, but are hoping that that phase is coming to an end, especially as DS1 and his family are travelling around Europe and ending up with us in the middle of August, which we are really looking forward to. It will mean that we will spend time with the two eldest grandchildren (DGS14 and DGD11), so we are looking around for places to take them while they are here. I just hope that nothing else breaks down!

I'll do the update tomorrow but will now go and catch up with all your posts.

I hope you are all keeping well and that the weather is being good for you, wherever you are.

Have just looked at that link, Anakat; thanks for posting it, and to Elaine for finding out which charity it is for. As my Mum has Alzheimer's, it's a cause close to my heart but I agree that the deadline is a bit imminent. It is a busy time of year for most of us.

Pippa - hugs to your dear Mum

Mrs Moneypenny - hugs to your MIL, too

Chalky - the videos you put on FB of little William have been lovely; you must all be so happy to see him running around and having fun.

Jean - we've had some spectacular thunderstorms here, too, and they are like firework displays sometimes!

Anyway, I have received the call to put the kettle on - again, so I'd better get going.

    morning all
hugs to everyone who needs /wants one. you are all brilliant so everyone deserves one.

ill try and pull a couple of deccys in as its a good cause to be knitting for.

went warfarin clinic with mil yesterday, got to go again next week.
she seems to be doing well, but now shes got used to the nurses running round after her shes more than happy to expect me to do the same. i am having to gently point out that she is capable of doing some things herself.
got to do some cleaning here today, DS2 comes back from a week away at scout camp tomorrow so i want to be free to have time to devote to him if he wants me.

I've finally managed to knit again, thumb was a bit sore after so I'm going to try doing a bit every other day for now.
It was lovely to get the needles back in my hands though.

Hi, have you tried circular needles? there is less weight on the needles and so less strain on your hands.
    best wishes :)
