As it happens, Jean, I DO have a melon baller! Great idea and I will try it when I make next week's batch of biscuits. Funnily enough, I keep thinking it's Saturday today; must be something in the French air! Glad your ankle is better but don't go mad with it, now!

    evening all
haven't read back yet but will later I have been out almost all day visiting...

mom's first with some shopping made her a cup of tea and did a bit of cleaning, she just wants me to sit and talk to her but I see things that a few years ago she would have been most upset if they weren't done so I have to do them on the quiet so as not to upset her, I get OH to chat to her and I just disapear for a bit;)

Then we popped over to see Mr and Mrs Twins with my latest contributions, 2 shawls a blanket and some butterfly's had a cuppa and a chat about this and that

Next we went to see my friend Jo and her new man had a lovely lunch and another chat...no wonder I'm so thirsty :rotfl:
all in all a lovely day

got back about 5:00 and had a pootle round the garden for an hour and now I am a bit tired so off to put my feet up and watch TV for a bit with some woolly stuff

While I think about it has anyone seen this about the bunting???Mrs Twins told me about it

Anne I saw it on the day it was published - I am sad I know I admit I read the Daily mail on line no less!! Someone on that local council needs to get out a bit more or they need to pay proper money and get some REAL POLES for their street lights!!
Have just slung the bunting round the sis in laws brand new deck (our birthday pressie to her) himself did the deck under my strict supervision I did the bunting - no help at all - in fact somebody should have measured the space cos I have enough bunting to go round twice!! the short box bit on the end is so they have access to the drains! its a design feature don't you know.

I get so tired of ridiculous decisions being blamed on health and safety - they are rarely if ever involved.

Most decisions of this sort are a result of fear of the increasingly litigious society which we live in. Councils and private companies face ridiculous claims all the time and are hemorrhaging money because if the amount claimed is under a few thousand pounds it costs more to defend than to pay out.

Health and safety is a safer excuse than saying "we believe that a proportion of our local residents will do anything for money and we can't afford to defend or pay out on all the claims sad experience tells us to expect"

Examples: the woman who went for a walk in a country park, tripped on a rabbit hole and sued the council for an amount £1k under the amount which they would go to court to defend. After some letters back and forth she was paid.
The person who tripped on a slightly uneven paving slab and did the same thing.

Then there are the companies and individual shops facing the same thing. Plenty of examples online of people 'slipping' in supermarkets in the hope of cashing in.

Drivers deliberately rear ending cars in order to claim without penalty.

All very amusing but all of the £ks given to those who get away with it are paid for by all of us in higher retail prices, increasing insurance premiums and rocketing council tax.

So while many individual decisions appear ludicrous, that's because the reporters are looking for an amusing story to get everyone riled up, rather than looking for the facts.

And here's the truth about the often repeated banning conkers lie and other stories:

Hello one and all and lots of love to each and every one.
    Some lovely,lovely makes going on.

We have had a busy few days catching up with a friend who was widowed a while back who is trying to move house. She lives in Somerset. So we went to " hold " her hand whilst she looked at some. TERRIBLE! I can not believe people put their houses up for sale when they are such a state. But, she has sold her house so has to find somewhere !

All well here. Village fete yesterday ans DSIL 's dog Wong first prizes the dog show. He is a little Westie and only been in the village for five weeks so she was chuffed to bits.

Just a quick pop in because we have DD 2 and DSIL x2 and DBIL for a BBQ in a while. It is glorious here and I am keeping everything crossed for it to stay dry as Dubai family will be here in 2 weeks!!!!!!! Not excited at all !!!!!

Can I send the gentlest thoughts to all who are struggling in one way or another. And seakay I wholeheartedly agree. It's such a shame that some elements in society are so shallow.

jean you sound the perfect SIL to me.

Kathywi have reduced the sugar too and just use a wet teaspoon to dollop them on. I nre get 100 and they are gone far too quickly.

psso keep on keeping on. Bless you.x

f1 so sorry about delay... Such a pain.

pippa think of you often. Could do with a breakfast meet!
Try and do a good deed every day.

SHAZ -have a wonderful holiday , hope the sun shines for you and don't forget the midgie cream!
SEAKAY- we share the same sentiments!
PSSO- sis in law has been toasting herself on that terrace all day - in wine and in sunshine...perhaps tomorrow she
will fish out the umbrella so we don't all get burnt! (especially the Scottish Blue People - namely me)
