Garage tried to rip female off with MOT fail..they failed in end!

Why? She deliberately took her car to a "mates" garage when she didn't get the result she wanted. She got a "mates" MOT and is using a dodgy MOT not done to VOSA standards to justify her belief that she was ripped off.
So damn what? You want to report that garage for passing her MOT? Joka.0 -

Can't give you the definitive answer on the 407, but the 106 we own has a ribbed metal pedal under the rubber one, so if the rubber drops off mine while I'm using it I can still perform the process of stopping before I pull out safely.
(and I just checked personally)
My Astra has pedal covers from the SRI on it (metal with rubber bits) and when they fall off (not if, it's a Vauxhall after all :rotfl:) you certainly can still stop the vehicle like you say.
Lol @ "you have an MOT not worth the paper it's written on" - you mean like the ones every single car dealer has issued on a car they're selling?!0 -
certainly. What if the sole of her shoes were wet and slipped off the metal part of the brake pedal causing her to collide with a pedestrian crossing at a set of traffic lights at red? that's "damn what"(sic)
And if there just happens to be children crossing at said crossing at said time too!
THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!!!!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::cool:0 -
I bet you will seeing as they do dodgy MOTs.
It isn't an advisory, its a fail:
http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_330.htm
Reason for rejection:
b. the anti-slip provision on the brake pedal pad is missing, incomplete, loose or worn smooth
So yes, you got a dodgy MOT.
Read the link, it says
"Vehicles with a smooth brake pedal pad which from manufacture did not incorporate grooves or the fitting of an anti-slip material should not be subject to rejection."
So either grooves or rubber is acceptable, if fitted originally.
If it's not missing, which it won't be if the pedal is grooved, it will pass. If the pedal is smooth, it should fail.0 -
TBH I find it hard to believe cars ever fail for that - think of the amount of taxis/pizza delivery cars/etc that are around town all the time and will wear a set of pedal covers in 20-30k0

Taxis & the like may wear the pedal rubbers, but they won't wear them back to bare metal.
Hammyman is right about the missing rubber being a failure, although I'd be more concerned about the fuel leak that doesn't seem to have been addressed.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0 -
