You're dreaming. Do you really think that the car's pedals are designed with that much redundancy?
No point putting the rubber on it in the first place if that was the case!
Anyone with half a brain knows that a car missing half the pedal shouldn't pass an MOT!
I'll have to concur, if you say you have half a brain I won't argue with you.0 -
Good glad we cleared that up boys and girls!!0

Can't give you the definitive answer on the 407, but the 106 we own has a ribbed metal pedal under the rubber one, so if the rubber drops off mine while I'm using it I can still perform the process of stopping before I pull out safely.
(and I just checked personally)0 -

I will use them in future,i only didnt because i felt i was using hubbys contacts and we have split.
I bet you will seeing as they do dodgy MOTs.i was told the pedal cover was advisory and i am doing it in next 2 days...
It isn't an advisory, its a fail:
http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_330.htm
Reason for rejection:
b. the anti-slip provision on the brake pedal pad is missing, incomplete, loose or worn smooth
So yes, you got a dodgy MOT.0 -

be interested to know if the advised missing pedal rubber is on the advisory sheet (its an instant fail regardless even if it has ribs on the pedal)0

For what it's worth Hammyman does seem to know what he's talking about - if the requirements say that the brake pedal should have a rubber cover in order to pass and this cover was missing then clearly the car shouldn't have passed.
