we don't include petrol in ours. we have £50 a month petrol , and on the 23rd each month we fill the tank right up. this month we only needed £34 of petrol to fill it up. but then we only drive about 20 miles a week. as hubby has a van supplied by the work for work use, and i use car to go shopping once a week and to collect daugther from nursery and maybe to visit in-laws. other than this i walk everywhere. i'm vey lucky really0

 I'd decided on budget of 300.00 for 2 adults, 2kids and dog, starting gently I thought so as not to be too much of a shock to anyones system. Started writing all spending down and have realised that before the first week is over I've been to Tesco 3 times!!
Thats bad planning- although one spend was only £2.00 . Total spent so far this week on food and cleaning stuff (starting 31.8.06) £90.55!! I'm posting this so that I can shame myself into trying harder.

Complete newbie to this, but i'd like to join.
It's me and my boyfriend - currently he's fighting to get jobseekers so atm my £5.20/hour has to pay for everything including rent/council tax!
I have NO idea whatsoever of what i normally spend on food (tend to shop in bits and pieces as i work in town so can get out at lunch - but no car so harder to get to do a 'big shop'). So this month i'm just gonna try and be as economical as poss and keep all my receipts.
My main aim this month is to stop joining in with workmates and popping out during the morning for expensive drinks and snacks!0 -
by the looks of things i am going to go over my first ever weekly budget plan:eek: ..but... in my defense....£12.80 of that was to buy a new caserole pot.. and some utensils....so i think if it wasnt for that i would have prob... stayed just under budget....
but these were things... i think were justified.....so i can do more home cooking.....and do more of a variety of things.....
but on saing that even though i am prob... going to have to dip into... the bank for more money for the shopping this week.. it is a start....and it is better than what we normally spend:eek: which to be truth its normally around the £80 - £100 mark....
so still very proud of myselfWork to live= not live to work0 -
I'm joining in again this month, and although I went over my £50 budget last month (me, OH, DS and 2 cats - not surprised as £50 is very little but I also did shock myself just how much food I really did have when I looked - I could have stocked a corner shop!:rotfl: )
Anyway, I would be happy this month to just come in under £200
Have spent about about £92 so far but we now have meat to last us the last two weeks of the challenge (I hope).. enough rice and pasta for at least this month and can get a good amount of potatoes from my local market for about £1 so things should go well things month.
Really chuffed with myself yesterday... went to the local market where there is a family run butchers and got (can't remember exact figures on the lamb... sorry!):
2x 3lb packs of bacon misshapes for £1.99 (£1.99 ea bogof!!)
3lb sausages for £1.99 (so cheap as they were meant to be plain but the herbs fell in when they were being made - tastiest I've ever had!)
3lb beef mince £3.27
4 lamb neck fillets (can't remember price of this)
All for just over £13. Very chuffed indeed.April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -

Well 3 days in and I haven't spent a penny yet! I'm trying to eat my freezer empty at the mo, so rather not do a shop (needs a defrost). But have no bread left, and running out of cereal (what I eat in work).
Got a bloke coming round in a sec to see if he wants to buy my snake, so might have a few extra pounds.

did my first ever meal plan today so i actually knew what i needed before going into tescos. made such a change from just wandering round aimlessly, throwing anything i liked the look of into my trolly, then realising when i get home that i just had lots of random cr*p so ending up eating frozen pizza again
worked out much cheaper and i shouldn't have to go back till thurs and that'll just be for some veg etc.
only spent £16, much less than my usual £30-£40 and that was including toiletries that i didn't "need" but they were on BOGOF so saves me buying them laterWiggly:heartpulsFB0 -
Hi all:hello:
Well my spend is going to increase today,as need to get kids new shoes for school tommorow and pe pumps!!!!
But i have also done my meal plan for the next 2 weeks so just need to write the shopping list from that, just realised i do need to change it a bit, as DH starts new job next monday and will need packing up ( he is at home in the day at min, working a split shift so eats with me at dinner, thats going to take some getting used too him not being here in the day)But at least this means we can eat as a family at night, something we havent done for ages due to his working hours.
My storecupboard is running a little low so need to fill up on the basics, and i am considering buying some new baking trays/tins, so i can cook more in one go.
Good luck everyone, hope you all have a great day!:jProud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0
