Supermarket spend £57.60(enough dry goods for nearly 3 weeks)
Farm shop £45.18 (enough meat for 3 weeks)
Milkman £25.95 (paid upfront for month and includes 30 x eggs and 25kg spuds)Rebel No 220 -

There his, he wont get rid! Today I will be writing my menu plan for the week using as much of the junk I have in my cupboards/freezer as possible. Will be preparing sandwiches every day for the man o' the house (finally he says! better watch what I put in the sarnies hunny pie) I am going to budget for £60 a week to start, and see how I go.

Went to Lidl's instead of usual Tesco venture. Spent £65 which, although better than it would have been in Tesco, was a bit on the high side.
Have worked out that I have enough meat and fish, pasta and rice to last the month easily, plus cleaning materials and toilet rolls, so hopefully the remaining budget will just go on milk, bread and vegetables (although the garden is supplying us pretty well on this front too which has been great!).
We have minimised on our nights out for the time being and so have treated ourselves to a couple of bottles of budget wine and some beers and some ice cream.
Fingers crossed I can keep it up!!!Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Hieveryone, went shopping in Asda today and spent a grand total of £14.87 bringing my total for the month upto £110.13:eek:
Did get lots of bargains though although I am having tesco delivery tomorrow night - shouldn't be that bad cos got loads of BOGOFs in that. Also managed to cancel a few items tonight off my Tesco order that were loads cheaper in Asda so that's good. :j Only went to Asda cos my sis drove me there as can't drive at mo cos toe's still poorly:oOfficial DFW Nerd - Member 408 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!0 -
i must admit....actually joining in the grocery challenge..and openly putting my grocery spending amount in my sig for all to see is really and i mean REALLY..making me knuckle down and cook more from scratch.. and i am really injoying it....ok i do injoy cooking anyway... but when you got money worries laying heavy on your shoulders.... it does make you depressed and lack of energy... so then you go to the chippy for food.. whick means spending more money.. and more food being wasted from the fridge...
i know that i will have gone over budget in my first week..as i have mentioned in a previous post... that i think... over the next few weeks... it will be easily done....
there is a car boot sale market tomorrow morning.. and some one told me the fruit and veg is really cheap.. so might go and have a nose... and try and keep away from the car booters.. so i dont spend any money... or might even try and get some things together and do a boot sale...
but thanks to every one who is posting on this thead... as i know i am not alone when i read the posts...:beer:Work to live= not live to work0 -

I knew that doing this challenge would really make me look at what I've been spending. My month starts on 25th as that is payday for both of us. I set myself a monthly budget of £200 and I'm down to £80 already. I've been writing down everything I spend and I can see how those trips to buy 'a pint of milk and some bread' really eat into the budget as I always end up picking up other stuff too. I have had to buy washing-up liquid and washing powder this month and as we live on a boat and all out waste water goes into the canal I always buy Ecover, not the cheapest but I feel really guilty if I buy anything else - especially as we've had baby moorhens in a nest just opposite the boat!0

Week 1 and so far, so good. I haven't been to the shops to spend, so the only thing that will go out the budget is milk from the milkman (3 times a week).
Meal-wise we have had pasta 2 nights running, and last night OH made a lovely potato and veggie layered dish with a dolmio sauce and a homemade cheese sauce. There's enough left for tonight and some more to freeze in portions too. All ingredients we already had in.
I've paid up-to-date for our organic veggie order, and cancelled this weeks as we don't need it. OH usually deals with this, but we keep getting a big box of veg every week, which we can't use up quickly enough, so I've taken the bull by the horns and amended the order0
