i am joining in on this - trying for £200 for the month for me, OH and 4 kids - altho one of them isn't eating yet lol as she isn't gonna be weaned for another month or so.....
we are pretty stocked up on toiletries etc [H goes to costco when his mum does and stocks us up on stuff] so the money is really only for food [I use cloth nappies and wipes so no need to add those in]
started it yesterday and think i am on target[ish] will see how it goes:rotfl:five children? I must be mad........ :rotfl:
aug grocery spend - £166.450 -
so far so good .. only spent about £5. of my £50 weekly budget.. so will have to change sig...as i am using up stuff from freezer and cupboard...but i really do need to go shopping... for tins etc... tomatos beans ....
this way... i am making sure.. things are used up...basically becuase there's nothing else there ...
so dont know whether its worth me just doing very small shops.. 2 or 3 times a week... and that way.. maybe be able to use more money off vouchers....but havent used any as yet.. since the challenge started...as i have sent hubby for the milk and bread...etc.. and he will not hand over coupons.....will have to shop sometime today... so might go this evening after x factor... so might pick up some bargins as wellWork to live= not live to work0 -
Ok, so budget from 30th August to 30th September was £275
I am over on this weeks part of the budget, but only because I've stocked up a few things from next weeks budget
Spend so far - £31.25DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
Wow, this is sounding good. I have no idea what I spend on food. If I run out of money I just rely on stuff in the cupboard or freezer as I seem to be able to make something out of a few bits and pieces.
I'm going to write down everything I spend this month - probably get a major shock. It's only the 2nd day of September and already on my way back to work yesterday (after attending a course in another town) I just popped into Pets at Home for some dog ear drops and ended up buying 18 tins of dog food. No idea how much it worked out per tin but I couldn't be bothered to go to the large Tesco so of course I missed out on points. Left work late and popped into Tesco express for a pizza, came out with 2 bags of shopping! Its quite clear I need a plan so will start with the menu planning when I finished here.
Good luck to everyone with their 'Grocery Challenge':o0 -
i seem to have had a very spendy week and can see old habits slipping back in (food in july was over £800 for 2 adults and 1 and 3 year old!!) had unexpected meals with friends and picnic out so did make cakes but must get back on track. I have done a meal plan for next 2 weeks so hopefully that will help.0

I'd like to join too please.
I'm going through my bank statements, trying to work out how much we spend each month, and it's not pretty. During August, in Asda alone, we spent £431.85, and that's for 2 adults and a dog  We spent a further £87.27 in Waitrose! Gosh, I really don't want to work out the rest
We definately need to get a grip on the amount we spend grocery shopping. I'm going to try and find the courage to work out the total, and then show my OH.
I don't know how much we should be spending on grocery shopping each week, but it's certainly a LOT less than we have been :mad:0 -
Hi
I am going to have another go this month - failed miserably last month on my attempt - mainly due to feeling sorry for myself after having an operation and felt I needed some treats!!!!
So,I am going to budget £300 on food, cleaning and toiletries for 2 adults and 2 little ones, seems like a lot but we have visitors for a week and a family tea to do for my sons birthday and the freezer is bare, so hopefully I can make a better attempt this month.
Good luck to everyone.
JoStarting with a clean slate.
August grocery challenge - £2500 -
ok, i'll give this a bash too. just checked aug bank statements and spent £150 in tesco, but thats only when i used switch card. also withdrew £190 cash so not sure what that all went on (probably alcohol! )
i'll give myself a target of £100 which i think shoud be doable for me + 2 cats.
good start so far, only £2 spent:cool:Wiggly:heartpulsFB0 -
Remind me not to go food shopping with my husband and/or kids again!!!
We had to take my MIL to Aldi today for her shopping and my lot managed to put £21.40 worth of shopping in our trolley. As I only planned on spending £36(including £4 to milkman) next weekand we only managed to buy 4 items on this week's list it will be tight.
My husband tends to put in nuts, spicey pickles, fancy cheeses and other unnecessaries! So the challenge is can I buy the other things on my list for £10?0 -
Hi, please can i join in too!!
I am aiming for max of £70 a week, for me Dh and 4 kids and the cat.
Does this total only include food? Or do i include petrol in this?
Hoping i can do this, i am really interested to see what i do spend??????????Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0
