Congrats on Jake's safe arrival! Thank god you chose a proper name, after some of the suggestions here!

I am 'inflicted' with a shortened version of a name and hate it! Similarly, surnames as first names are getting dafter.

Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)

I just put Jesse Finnigan into facebook and sure enough there is one living in Indianapolis. I sent him a message and asked him if he likes his name and he said he does, I also asked him if people take the micky out of his name and he said no most people think it`s kinda cool. But he is in America. But are we not just America but a couple of years behind. They had Macdonalds first and Coke (not the drug). He looks like a cool teen as well very Kurt Cobain. Decisions, Decisions.

American has also had the wildwest (Jesse James). Do you think in a couple of years we are going to be gun totin' cowboys in the U.K?Mind you some parts of the U.K are like the wildwest these days:eek::rotfl:
You said about your grandads name being Henry, and he was called Harry. This is because Harry is a nickname for the name Henry.

We`ll weve had our son. It was a very traumatic night for my lovely wife, as our son was born at 2.05 on the 6th of August 9lb 10 and a half, and believe me the half made all the difference. Weve decided to call him Jake Lee Finnigan as Jesse was not getting alot of nice looks from my family. Hope you lot like it and thank you all for your help with names and stuff. It just shows how nice some people are that you lot would bother with your posts. I hope these posts are a help to future couples having baby boys as this is an imporatant thing to choose.. My next post will be called "How to stop a baby crying". Thanksxx Must go now and wipe up some poop.
Congratulations!!!! :T:T:T:TI love the babys name too :D

I've never understood why people do this.

My cousins' baby was born a few weeks ago - thankfully, he does have a proper name. (Michael Richard)

It's even worse when the surname is one that can be first name, like Nicholas or Martin.

I have come across a number of pupils with 'upside down' names - very confusing and I'm sure they'll be suffering mistakes all their lives.

eg Jackson Martin or Taylor Nicholas

I used to know someone in that situation. His name was Connor Benn. He had to keep telling the teacher "My first name is Connor; not Benn".

  • I got it off the side of a big red lorry

    You mean this one?

Then you should be pronouncing it 'gnaw-bare' - Norbert Dentressangle is a French haulier :rotfl:
