Isaac is a name that I like.0

I much prefer the name Jesse to some of the more outlandish or chavvy ones. It is a traditional biblical name.

Saw a woman in IKEA the other day with 'Chay-leigh' emblazoned on her upper back with a tattoo. I can't stand those sort of names.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
I like Jesse. A Jesse won last night's Mastermind.0

I Like Jesse for a girl but not a boy.
The first thing that comes to mind is my grandad saying "you big Jesse" to the boys in the family if they cried/moaned at something trivial. I can't help having visions of you having a big butch boy who plays rugby & you are standing on the side lines shouting"Jesse":rotfl:it just doesn't seem right!.But that is just my opinion & you asked for people to respond if they liked it or not!.
My Hub was so fussy when we where choosing i wanted an unusual name, every boy name i suggested was too sissy for him etc.
Have a few in your mind, we had two we AGREED on (despite the fact i had a huge list!)& the minute he was born we looked at each other & ruled one of the names straightaway as he just didn't look like one! it's funny how once they are in front of you your ideas change.0 -
I'm still keeping an eye on this thread. We're still in the same position as we were with DS1, no name as yet and nothing agreed on at all!
We have a name which we think is okay, it's cute but not in any way original, which isn't necessarily a problem in itself, but I've always liked the thought of my children having a first name where you could reasonably guess that there won't be any others called the same in their class. I went to school with people who had very popular names and were forever being identified by their first names and last initial - there were lots of Kellys, Rachels, Craigs and Davids, for example. I just always knew I didn't want that to be the case for my kids - not that it matters in the scheme of things but hey!
I also adore another boys first name that I've loved for years and years, OH I think is warming to it more (I know he likes it) so I keep referring to baby bump as the name in question in the hope he'll get used to it!:D
FWIW OP I do like the name Jesse, I think prob more it's the connotations that other people might apply that could be a problem if you picked that name OP.Dealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63
