    Welcome to diaryland pennywisepoundstupid!!

Well done on making the changes now and doing something about your debt.

I find it so hard to budget with the kids as something always seems to come up no matter how much you budget doesnt it!

The DVLA wrote to my husband last week to say his licence is about to expire and he needs to pay £20 for an updated photo. Not sure if you can keep the same picture and just get a new licence, need to look into that. Theres just always something to catch us out each month.

Keep up the hard work :T. Mummytogirls :D

  • HI mummy thanks for posting, glad to know i'm not just waffling on at myself. Budgeting with kids is hard, I find school is the worst, we always seem to be getting letters for money for something, or wanting donations for raffles etc.

My hubby has had the same letter from the DVLA, from what i can make out you need to send a new up to date photo.

My DD starts preschool in September so im sure I will know exactly what you mean then. Im already finding that the uniform will cost a small fortune. They are required to have the school polo shirts & sweat shirts at around £8-9 each! Nearly had a heart attack when I found that little gem out!

So il be saving money by buying her trousers/skirts etc from the supermarkets.

Thanks for the info on the DVLA, havent had time to sit down and read it. Thats another £20 I need to add to the expenses then!

  • School uniform costs a fortune, £16 each for my kids sweatshirts, just because the school logo is embroidered on it:mad:.
Luckily polo shirts are plain, so i can buy those from Asda, i've even managed to pick up skirts/trousers from local charity shop and nearly new sales for around 50p and they are almost always in good condition. Stopped buying uniform from Next for DS as the amount of times he has come home with holes in the knees of his trousers from playing football:mad:, just not worth buying expensive uniform.
  • Hello.

Another mad morning at work and have been asked to do a couple of extra hours next week, which is good and will go towards clearing evil additions account.

I applied for a post office credit card last week, anyway arrived home to find i have been sent a pin number for a card, so it looks like i have been accepted:D, no idea what the limit is yet but transfers are 0% for 12 months, The plan is to transfer halifax onto post office and hopefully halifax will offer me a super duper low rate for a balance transfer and i can transfer most of barclaycard onto halifax, thats the plan anyway, just hope i get a decent credit limit on post office card.

Oh its also been a NSD :j.
  • Hi pennywise, well done on the 0% card thats great i hope its enough to clear your halifax debt what about seeing if its 0% on purchases and maybe pay off additions and next card in one foul swoop ?? then they get less intrest and then transfer the rest of the halifax across, just a thought :D Good luck on the debt free wannabe journey x
I AM A MONEY MAGNET, THEY ARE MAKING MORE MONEY FOR ME AS WE SPEAK:pMIKES MOB, DFW NERD 1071, DFW LHS 132!MIRACLES HAPPEN I'VE SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES. LBM 08£77240.69 Current outstanding total £36083.01 Paid so far = £41157.68
  • Hi Happy:D, good idea, but its only 0% for 3 months on purchases so not really worth it, what i might do if i get a large enough credit limit is pay addition, next and la redoute with halifax card and then transfer the lot onto post office, fingers cross that i can. Thanks for putting the idea in my head:T.
  • Not a very exciting day today, been at work for most of the day.

Last night i emptied the change tin and bagged up £15 in coppers, changed them at the bank at lunch time and spent £14.20 of it in Tesco's on bread, fruit and sandwich stuff for next week.

Was offered another 4 hours overtime next week at work, which will be good if mum in law can pick children up from school, means that hopefully i will be able to pay a bit more off the evil debt.

Have no children this evening as they are staying at in laws:D, so going to have a lazy evening, soak in the bath, with some lush goodies i got for my birthday and a bottle of pear cider as thats the only alcohol in the house and didn't have enough money for a bottle of wine, couldn't justify it either at the moment, i will use up what we have in first.

No children also means 2 less meals to cook, and as there is cottage pie left from last nights tea, hubby will be having that, i will probably have cheese on toast or scrambled eggs.

No new credit card in the post hope it comes tommorrow, really want to know what the limit is on it, so i can shuffle some debts about.
  • Good morning.
Postie has brought me new credit card this morning:D, limit is £1300, not as high as i was hoping, have rang up and transfered £1100 from halifax card onto it( maximum i was allowed to transfer), so that will be 0% for 12 months. so that leaves £542.37 on halifax card, not sure what to do now, was thinking of using halifax to pay off next la redoute and additions, which would roughly put the balance up to £750 and concentrate on paying it off as quickly as possible and then hopefully transfer barclaycard onto halifax, hopefully at a low rate.

Morning Pennywise, I cannot believe the price of your uniform! I really hope ive got the price right on ours and its not any more. I dont really buy from Next anyway so I wouldnt be buying any uniform from there, not when you can pick it up so cheaply in our places.
Im a bit picky on shoes though, they have to come from clarks, so thats £35 gone in a breath!

Hopefully you can get your 4 hours overtime in and get some more paid off the debts.
Yay to the credit card arriving and you doing your balance transfers, its all coming together now isnt it!!

    Catch up soon..
