Decided that after a long time of lurking and never posting i need to pluck up the courage and write down my feelings, dreams and frustrations as this might just help me get on in llife instead of dwelling on the past.

I am happilyish married to my hubby we will have been married 15 years next month:eek::D, he is lovely but a bit selfish a times i think this is because he has only child syndrome (hope i havn't offended anyone:o). I have 2 wonderful children that i adore, i am in my thirtys, work part time and well seem to be dwelling a lot on the past at the moment, lots of if we had waited to have children would we be better off, i i hadn't listened to hubby and bought a house in the late 90's when they were cheaper would we be better off, if i had decided to get off my backside sooner and study for the career i'm in now i have been happier etc etc, god i sound like a right moaning m

We have gone through all our outgoings, cut back where we can, gas and electric has just been reduced to £70 a month for the two, i hope this will go down further as we have had a wood burner stove fitted and hubby is able to get wood for free, so we are hoping that unless it gets bitterly cold that this will be enough to warm the house, i have also been and bought a airer from argos using some vouchers i had, i will use this to dry clothes instead of the dreaded tumble dryer.

So far today i have made £4 on a survey which has gone into Paypal account, when Paypal gets to £20 i withdraw into bank account, have £12 in at moment.

I recieved a parcel from postie which was some splenda products, i'm going to try using the sugar substitute to make some cakes later, fingers crossed they turn out ok.
Have spent £4.44 at the post office sending ebay parcels, but as i have already recieved this money it is not really a spend.
Spent £4.12 in the local shop on ice lollies and fruit juice.
£6.50 on Avon, bought some make up that i desperatly needed and some sun tan lotion.

Welcome :) I'm new here too! And if there's one thing I've learnt is that there's no point in dwelling on the past. It has happened, and unfortunately as much as we would all love to turn back the clock, we cannot.

At least you've taken this huge step to get your debts paid off quicker! One thing I have found that really helps to keep the motivation going is to make smaller goals, rather than one big: "I will pay everything off by 2020!" Having smaller goals really does help. For example, I'm woking on my cards one at a time whilst keeping the minimum payments on everything else, and seeing the balances coming down each month really does motivate me to clear more and more of them each month.

Do you have a plan of action for what you want to achieve? Most people, if after advice, post an SOA to give us a better idea of how you're spending/saving.

    Good luck :)

    16%... One of mine was 30% and I didn't even realise :(

Needless to say this became my top priority and now I only have about £300 on it left to pay :)

nice one ... will look forward to reading with interest
  • Been having a route through the cupboards and freezer, was going to go shopping tommorrow , but i think with some planning and some baking that we should be ok until monday:D.

Found some bolognaise sauce in the freezer so have made a lasagne and will have with salad, DD is stropping about though as she has announced that she doesn't like lasagne, told her its tough, that she eats bolognaise, she eats cheese sauce and pasta, so either get over it and eat it or do without and her dad can take it to work with him tommorrow:D. I am now officially the worst mum ever:rotfl::rotfl:.

    Xmas Saver!
Hi i'm new here just joined today and reading your post i feel a lot of the same things i think. i signed up to the mse emails yrs ago and never really did much with it all until about 1 year ago when i changed jobs and my income dropped. at the moment i don't have an exact debt amount but its around 10k for me and me OH. we also owe £80k on a house now worth £65 - thank you recession :( we're at a point in life where we want to get on our feet properly, get a bigger house and have children. that all seems impossible when we can barely save £100 a month for the "emergency fund". i do a lot of the what ifs like you and i don't know how you get past that i guess its just a personality thing you're either gonna be positive or negative and i'm negative :(
i just keep hoping that one day all the little things like searching hours on comparison sites, planning meals for a week then shopping, walking to the supermarket on my lunch break instead of taking the car out on my day off eventually pay off and we get there. but for the moment it seems like money controls us and its got a pretty tight grip
Living half in debt, half in denial
At the bottom of the hole....pass the rope and hoist me up!!
  • Had a good morning so far, managed to get both children to tidy there rooms:j, have got 3 loads of washing done, trying to get it all dried as its clouding in here and looks like it could rain.
Recieved an email from Green rewards so had a nosy on there site, id forgotten i had 1000 points with them, so spent them on a honey and almond duchy soap and its delivered free:D, i know its only a little thing but it really brightened my day.

Have made a choccy cake, its a bit lob sided but sure it wil be ok onced iced.
  • Today has seen a dent in the bank account,£5 for afterschool football club for 2 children, £50 swimming fees for 2 children, school photographs £36 did get some extra of these as i will put them away and gets some nice frames and will be used for christmas presents for great grand parent etc and £10 petrol, so i now have £24 to last me 2 weeks:(. i think i will be raiding the change jar and bagging up some coppers to take to the bank.

Looking on the bright side no bills arrived in the post and i managed to save my snack i took to work as there was some choccy cake as it was one of the teachers birthday.
  • Just managed to order 5 miele hoover bags from espares for £2.44, had an email from them to say they had credited my account with £5 as i hadn't shopped with them for ages, also was able to use Paypal, so in theory they havn't cost me anything:j.
  • Very boring day today, work this morning, nipped to Tesco as forgot to buy toilet rolls on monday and was very good and only spent £2.88 as i also bought fruit juice.
Recieved £5 amazon voucher this morning, which has been the highlight of the day so far, no bills have landed on the mat so at least thats good. will spend another £1 later on parking as DD is at the dentist after school and that will be another day done and dusted.
