Yes you can make money from some of these cashback deals if you are organised just like gromit said. These cashback companies will put obstacles for a lot of people even if they have abide to the terms, simply take legal action and they have to pay up. I have had and currently use cpw, osps and e2save for the past 3 years and have always get my cashbacks. I currently have 3 contracts - 2 with e2save and 1 with osps. There was only one occasion where they were being difficult with my claim but got my cheque in the end as I have proof of posting (special delivery).0 -
What a complacent attitude this is. Use these companies and keep paying them when they are obviously ripping people off even those who play by their silly rules like the OP. Then to get some of your money back and for them to abide by their contract....................... Take them to court. As if people have nothing else to do but to take a bl***y mobile phone company to court and waste so much time and energy on every small thing in their lives. Where do you start and when will you stop. Just take your business somewhwere else for goodness sake.ArsenalFC wrote:Yes you can make money from some of these cashback deals if you are organised just like gromit said. Now advice to the OP: go and get 2 or 3 more contracts with them but don't forget also to sue them. I am sorry but this is really a joke what people are saying. No it is actually a tragedy.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0 -
Aiadi, you simply have no idea on how these cashback works and how to resolve the problem if the companies are not paying up. Does taking your business somewhere else means you can get 12months free line rental? NO, I dont think so.
No one here are saying people should take out cashback contracts, merely to advice on how to get the best deals or help to fight and get their money back. You choose not to use these cashback deals with these companies, many people like myself have had free rental or pay very little each year.
Dont slate people because you think its too difficult/time consuming for you to bother with these things.0 -
Sorry Arsenal if you thought I was slating anyone but getting these B******s out of business is the only way for us to eventually get decent customer service.
And trust me I have had my time with cashback deals but never again.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0 -
Aiadi, it's been explained on here many times before, but I guess it needs explaining again.
Cashback deals are designed to trip up the unwary. Many people are incapable of sending back forms and bills on time, even though they think that they are when they take up the offer. That is how the companies make their money.
So, play the system right and you make the money instead. These companies are not charities: they will estimate how many people successfully obtain their cashbacks, subtract these from their income, and calculate that they can still make a profit. As you say, no "goodness of their heart" comes into it - it is purely a business strategy, and a successful one it seems.
I'm surprised you haven't grasped this concept, given the number of similar things Martin recommends you do to beat the system, such as be a credit card tart or open a bank account for the bribe only to close it again at the earliest opportunity. If you want to be a moneysaver, you have to work at it a bit.
That is not to say that it always goes smoothly. But bear in mind that you don't tend to hear about it unless it goes wrong. Not belittling the opening poster's situation at all, I can safely say that this is not typical.
I hope it's all clear to you now.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
Hi
I was about to send a cashback claim. I was double checking the address on their website. I see that CPW have changed their cashback address.
Do you think some claims will get 'lost' because of the change?
04 July 2007 - I was given the address
Redemptions
PO Box 4311
Dunstable
LU6 9BJ
by a CPW member of staff when getting the phone contract.
This is the correct address according to the Redemptions department at CPW who I rang today.
There is still a Wednesbury address however shown on their website so my advice is to ignore this. I pointed this out to the CPW person in their redemptions department and he said he would talk to someone about it.
There were quite helpful and did call back because I have given them the wrong length of contract information. Will be doing the cash back claim shortly.0 -
My understanding is CPW (+e2save, osps etc) are using 2 different redemption centers
The one in Dunstable is the old, regular, friendly (?) one with reasonable 45/60 day limits etc
The new one is for the "price match" contracts on e2save. These have much more stringent conditions, but also larger discounts - more geared to direct competition with other online stores.
I thought hard and went for a less-attrative CPW (e2save) deal as
* they'll still be in business
* the conditions are more reasonable
* I've had 2-3 issues in the past but all have been sorted out amicabally
* I've had previous cashbacks paid without incident (Dunstable)What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
You're confused. The Dunstable address is the normal one now; the Crewe address is for Onestop and E2Save so-called "price match" deals. Wednesbury is history.0

I looked at deals on carphonewarehouse over the past year and many 18 month contract deals only offer discounted line rental for the first 12 months. i believe the cpw think that this is the contract you've taken.
the calculations explain this:-
Offer - 18 month contract with line rental for the first 12 months at 5.99.
so £15x6 = £90 (discount given by the network provider)
then £30x6 = £180
total = £270
line rental 5.99 x12 = £71.88
cashback to be given =£198.12 /3 = £66.04 at each claim.
bottom line they think it's 5.99 for 12 months on a 18 month contract, you say discount is for the entire duration of the contract - 18 months. if your contract clearly states 5.99 for 18 months then they can't argue and should pay up.
btw - i've just looked at their june/july 2005 offers and couldn't find any 18 month deal that offer the full 18 months discounted.
good luck
Are you sure the above is not correct. Whenever I do a cashback deal its always the first 12months which are discounted, and there is normally a calculation that shows the total amount that will be paid back, so that you can work out yourself the months x rental, less your cashback, divided by the contract term.
Hope u r right though0 -
OK. Now I'm worried. I was just about to return Bill 6, as stated in all the online documentation, but decided to call customer services anyway (I had to change my home address). Anyway the nice lady told me the info on the web was all "rubbish" (her word). And in fact I should have returned bill 4. I was a little shocked, given that bill 4 arrived more than 60 days ago, but she said it was fine and "we will honour it". She then told me the 3 bills I would need to send were June, October and Feb. I pointed out that the June bill was bill 5, not 4 (or 6!) at which she said it was the month, not the bill number that counted and I should definitely send bill 5 (June). At the time I took this at face value, but did a quick Internet search to see if I could find anything in writing to back this up, and found this thread. Now I wonder if it was all some some evil plot to make me send the wrong bill and forfeit the cashback ?0
