No spend day yesterday due to a 6 a m start and not finishing until 11 p.m. Today I have a Board meeting and a staff party this evening. I am running on empty but still, A NO SPENDING DAY. 5 days to pay day and I have no idea how much I have left I'll do a proper update tomorrow when I have a bit more brain space.0

Phew this has been a week and a half. Yesterday I had dinner with friends sitting outside, it was really lovely and cost £40.00. And on the credit card £106 for curtain fabric IT WAS A BARGAIN. I will have a bit of a count up and see what remains for the next few days, and also work out what has been spent this week.0

Just remembered add on coffee £2 and 2 X croissants £2.200

OK I have £68.22 left in change and three days to go until payday BUT yesterday I did my big shop during the England match (blissfully quiet) and that cost £60.78. I am over drawn, £168 but not stressing too much with everything that has been going on this week. Next month I begin to cut down and pay off..........................that will be interesting. I have a holiday in France to pay for plus a week-end in N.Ireland and a target off the debt of £2000.0

Good luck!! ON a positive note at least now you KNOW where your money is going - which is always helpful! (And not as simple as it sounds
)

Yes it goes on coffee, food top ups and clothes! And today I spent £2 on coffee and £15 on a taxi which I can't claim back but which saved me from the Tube.0

You will not be surprised to learn that I am not a saver, however I am a brilliant bill payer, never late or forgotten. With a bit of luck upping my targets and paying them on the first of the month will work for me. I work in the public sector and whilst I probably won't be made redundant (far too expensive) who knows what the future will bring. I need to make more of these times of earning a good wage in order that I am not bought low through a change in employment or circumstance. As a follower of Taxi's diary (now she's an inspiration in very many ways) I am conscious that we are not always in control of our own lives. I do want to enjoy life with my friends and family but I am sure I can fit it all in with a bit of planning.0

SO right re the lack of control at times. We've always enjoyed a good standard of living (well, once you get out of the junior brackets) and bought our first house at 21 (a very good move in retrospect, even though it went into neg eq the year after - thankfully not by too much in the end) DH had worked for the same co (a bank...) for 21 years and was made redundant last year (but big pay off) Thankfully went straight into new job but was made redundant fromn that 7 months later (funding was cut - and will be hit even harder now, so I suspect more will be going from there) 3 months out of work and then he set up as a interim manager - good work when you can get it (but does shis head in as he can't deal with uncertainty)
Yes, we could pay our mtge off earlier, but DH works damn hard (as do I doing all his bloomin' paperwork and organising the 4 kids - I'm no lady of leisure!) so we enjoy some play time too - it's what keeps him sane (well, ish!!) We could cut back on lots - but life wouldn't be as enjoyable. I think we've got a reasonable balance at the momentI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200
