Pair of tights £4, pair of tights £3, pair of mittens £9.99, Christmas advent super dooper doll/Scandinavian decoration £10.00. I have a terrible TK Maxx addiction and this is quite a good total for me - absolutely no will power. Cleaning money to niece £20.00. I am taking my Mum out for dinner tonight.0

Today I have made lamb curry, Scotch broth, roasted some tomatoes for the freezer, and blitzed yesterday's celery soup. I am working up to a massive November challenge of buying NO food. I just need to clear enough space in the freezers for ten pints of milk I genuinely think I have enough stuff including fruit and veg to live for a month and spend no money on food. The added advantage will be empty freezers for the post Christmas bargains. By monitoring my food spend this month I am learning what I spend on food even when I am trying not to overspend, it is considerable! I have to have paid off my 0% CC by Christmas which means £1500 for the next two months so a "no food spend" month will really help. Off to tackle sewing my dress now.0

No Spending Day. Managed to get the collar on the right way round so I will be able to finish the dress next time I am here in a couple of weeks. Shame.............. I was hoping to wear it tomorrow. I have had a lazy afternoon lounging in front of a roaring fire, lovely. Really, really don't want to go back to London tonight, it really feels like winter evenings now and that makes the journeys a bit of a chore. In London next week-end.0

Coffee £2.20, ham 69p, milk 84p, yogurt £1.09. Hmmmmmmm trying to persuade 3 national museums to hold a joint staff craft fair not going that well. Early night tonight, taking my ex-boss out for dinner tomorrow.0

Ex-boss dinner £78.56. We take it in turns to pay and it definitely was my turn. No coffee in a small attempt to defray the expectedly expensive evening! Chinese delegation visiting work today and for some not very clear reason a minor Government minister, separately I hasten to add. Also a leaving party for a member of staff which I need to poke my nose into for half an hour.0

Wednesday, no spends, Thursday no spends. I believe this is a record two days of NO SPENDING. Off to see friends tonight for a well deserved comedy club thing, looking forward to the week-end and getting straight in the flat. I will make it to pay day without being overdrawn I think (am pretty sure). It has turned really cold and my theory of waiting for the sales to buy a winter coat is being severely tested, a journey of two buses and a train means lots of hanging around in bleak and windy places.0

Well done on the 2 NSD, and not using the overdraft. It is BLINKING FREEZING in London at the moment, definitely can't imagine holding out another 3 months for a coat. Do I remember right in that you made a coat last year - is that a winter one?
Enjoy the comedy!Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

well done on the NSDs!! I seem to be having a distinct lack of those! :rotfl:
Hope the comedy club was good
ditto on the coat its FREEZING at the moment, getting flu/colds will be a price to pay for waiting for the sales!! bet there are still some bargains out there to be had!

I had a really good night out last night £56ish. I ended up sharing a cab home which bumped things up but was nice! On the coat question, yes you are right I did make a winter coat at the end of last year, I had forgotten, it is hanging in my Newark wardrobe, I can pick it up next week. But also last year I bought an Edina Ronay mac which is a slightly fetishy black quilted rubbery/plasticy/shiny thing..............Anyhoo it was too tight last year and I rejected it as making me look a bit too like a "special" condom tied round the middle, a look to be avoided by anyone but especially the trying hard middle aged woman. I tried it on yesterday and it is converted to a slightly edgy, trendy trench coat that is a wee bit too big, hurrah! It also meant that I was as warm as toast. It got a lot of admiring questions from friends last night, so one up for profligacy!
I am staying in today to autumn clean my flat. Already done two hours and it is at teh stage it looks worse than when I started.0 -
2 X milk £1.68. bleach £1.60. I hate cleaning, I am not that keen on this flat, it needs work doing, I am sick of living like a student, I can't bear it. On a more positive note NSD, early night, looking forward to spending a day with friends today. I have to find someone to tile the kitchen and bathroom floor and paint this flat, that is next weeks task. Everything sorted by Christmas would be good.0
